Dark theme

YouTube did this recently as well, or is it only my screen? I'm not a fan of this dark look. Can I change it back? It is only the opening main page, the others seem fine when you open them. YT is like this. My SDD did shut down a couple+ weeks ago, so maybe this is a continuation of that? Or is this an actual dark theme by design?

I do not understand what you mean. Can you be more specific? What do you see? What do you mean by “dark look”?

For youtube/firefox there's plenty of add-ons to change appearance , for the forum color scheme there's a setting in preferences.

This website:
Preferences tab-> Style variation -> pick "light" from dropdown
Youtube:
Windows 10, Windows 11:

Just now, it's not doing it upon first bringing up the page. I checked YT and it's not doing it either... so must be on my end? I am still working on rebuilding my computer after the SDD failed. My settings look ok... not sure, but it's not doing it now. I don't have them set to dark, and that is what it looked like... interesting.

ps... remember to do a backup, trying to remember all the 'favorites' links is the main problem after getting this fixed... could be a Windows legacy gift, or not.

Hi gdpetti, click on your name on the top left and select "Preferences". From there you can select "Style Variation" and set it to light or dark. In modern operating systems often there is a system preference for dark or light, and many online websites default to the OS setting, but often you can change this in preferences to be whatever you like.

As I said, my settings were correct. I use Firefox in Ubuntu, and everything looked right... and then, later, as I said, everything was normal again. Odd. The real problem now is how YT requires a login so often. Tracking never stops and neither do the algos, which should keep them busy if nothing else.

i HATE the inflation of yt and videos: these steal your time and keep you captive. i refuse to watch EVERYTHING lasting more than one minute, i refuse logins, i refuse paywalls, i refuse cookies. there still remain enough sites of interest..
