These kind of changes would certainly contribute to 2023 being "rocky":

1. Oil price will rise to $150 a barrel
2. The UK will rejoin the EU
3. The EU will collapse after the UK’s return; Euro will drop out of use as the former EU currency
4. Poland and Hungary will occupy western regions of the formerly existing Ukraine
5. The Fourth Reich will be created, encompassing the territory of Germany and its satellites, i.e., Poland, the Baltic states, Czechia, Slovakia, the Kiev Republic, and other outcasts
6. War will break out between France and the Fourth Reich. Europe will be divided, Poland repartitioned in the process
7. Northern Ireland will separate from the UK and join the Republic of Ireland
8. Civil war will break out in the US, California. and Texas becoming independent states as a result. Texas and Mexico will form an allied state. Elon Musk will win the presidential election in a number of states which, after the new Civil War’s end, will have been given to the GOP
9. All the largest stock markets and financial activity will leave the US and Europe and move to Asia
10. The Bretton Woods system of monetary management will collapse, leading to the IMF and World Bank crash. Euro and Dollar will stop circulating as the global reserve currencies. Digital fiat currencies will be actively used instead

My initial thought was some of these things may happen, but a high level politician publicly predicting can become fuel for him being getting roasted publicly. Probably he is trying to get some publicity for being relevant or simply trolling which Russian public understands (which western reader can't). The twitter responses are predictable - How much Vodka went in etc.

But, he has been doing this type of tweet for a while. Probably he wants to break the mindset of western political correctness. since Musk was dragged in to the conversation as future "American President", his responded them as "absurd".

Medvedev was expertly deploying sarcasm and irony here. I laughed out loud. His predictions about the West are as likely and reliable as the West's predictions about Russia. And THAT was the point. Not even that subtle, but so many just didn't get it. No sense of humor.

Interesting predictions. I heard about the UK rejoining the EU not a long time ago, from Krzysztof Jackowski:
Worth noting is that according to Jackowski, there will be another iteration of the EU, with some countries excluded. So maybe Medvedev is watching him or maybe he's a "Russian agent", as he was called before ;-)
I can also imagine some partitioning of Poland, especially when hard times come, and regions like Silesia could be a target for German intelligence since there's a lot of German industry there and some population with dual Polish-German citizenship. $150 for a barrel could also happen one day when the USD will untangle from petroleum, especially since the Chinese economy is waking up after the lockdowns, and they are now open to trade crude oil in local currency... Maybe the lack of humor by many commenting was because those somehow felt real, and coping mechanisms got activated?

It is simply not possible to keep one's seriousness and politeness for so long in the face of oinking psychopaths, black humour is a very effective strategy, not only does the beast come out of hiding, but it traps itself.
Dmitry Medvedev must have had a good laugh too when he wrote this tweet, perhaps with a tear of bitterness for those "happily oinking piglets."

Yeah, it was a mix of realistic predictions with a lot of subtle digs for those with eyes to see. Consider his ref. to Germany establishing a "fourth Reich" with its "satellites" in the Baltics and Poland and the "Kiev Republic". I think that's a ref. to history, where the 3rd Reich was established partly as a result of dire economic conditions in Germany in the 30s. Germany is currently subjecting its own economy (with the help of the USA) to a similar economic downturn, so why not suggest it could give rise to another "Reich"!

Overall it is a pretty good summation of the general trends. In fact, the list is pretty much what Putin talked about previously, on more than one occasion, about the move away from a unipolar world to a multi polar one, although he was talking about a general trend with no specifics, that would take some time. So Medvedev was being "outrageous" by giving the specifics and suggesting it will all happen next year. The thing is, if what Putin says is close to the truth, then most of Medvedev's predictions are very likely to happen in one form or another. In all, it was some expert trolling in the true sense of that word.
