George Carlin - A man ahead of his time! Corona virus!

Just watched and shared it on FB and oh man, what an incredible feeling of looking at an entirely different reality, it almost feels like a different planet entirely, one where someone like him would freely be able to come out and say exactly what he said in the way he did.

It never gets bored to listen to George carlin. He is not only ahead of his times, promoting so-called "conspiracy" into main stream in the name of comedy. He inspired people like John Stewart ( soft version though) that got trust of 30% of the youth during pre-Trump decade and half. Even if Trump goes out and tweets "Deep State" , no body can say it is "conspiracy" because people heard enough number of times and they can sympathize with him. The hypnotic effect ( subconscious selection and substitution) of "conspiracy" weakened, but It seems to popped up again with CoronaMindVirus, as it became too personal. The off shoot of the John Stewart unfortunately became left gate keepers ex: colbert , Trevor Noah and John Oliver etc.

George Carlin, I really don't think promoted so called conspiracy" I really think he was a man of the truth.these other men you talk of don't have an original thought in their head , well, maybe John Stewart; ; but George Carlin never gave a crap. He never trusted the government He says his views in comedic way, but there are some deep truths coming from him. He was an observer of the world. He saw the human race objectively. He didn't like what he saw.

Carlin was absolutely brilliant, maybe my fave comic. His material has aged way better than Bill Hicks for example, as good as Hicks was, his "Goat Boy" persona and obsession with sex/porn was grating after a while. Back in the "wild west" era of youtube, when people put their DVD collections up for viewing, I caught pretty much all of Carlin's concerts; between about 1990-2005 he was untouchable, a true great.

I tend to agree with you, Carlin predates the new wave of comedians but I think they departed from the line of work he embarked on.

nowadays you have brilliant comedians still, but seemingly not daring to “go there”, as they all seem very tied down to the idea of maintaining a career and a public persona that is accepted and PC and “clean” (like Trevor Noah or John Oliver). And the ones who ebd up just being funny but with no real depth (think, Ricky Gervais or Louis C.K.) they make you laugh but not really think.

The only one that I may compare is Dave Chapelle, although he’s very focused on racial issues (and maybe he should), but his jokes usually have a certain depth to them that go beyond mere entertainment.

What I mean to say that Carlin's "Truth" is "Conspiracy" for the MSM and authoritarian followers.

Over the many years, I have admire George Carlin's brutal honesty from his views. I tend to forget most of his skits in detail, but one line will Always follow me, something to the tune of: It is One big club, and we ain't part of it. I follow some of the happenings of hollyweird, and Ice Cube came out recently saying almost the exact same thing. The good'o boys club. Both are stand out humans in their own right and times. Truth to power as they say.

The following gem from George Carlin in a 1996 interview pretty much sums up the philosophy underpinning this forum: "Bring on the comets!" and, "Sit back and enjoy the show!"
