And it's like "omgwtfbbq" :o

A Magnapinna squid swims about 11,090 feet (3,380 meters) underwater off Oahu, Hawaii, in 2001.

Captured by a Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) ROV, the image is from a video that clearly shows the undulating, winglike flaps that gave Magnapinna ("big fin") its name--as well as the distinctive tentacles, extended at right angles and trailing like fishing lines.

Whereas giant squid and other cephalopods have eight short arms and two long tentacles, Magnapinna have ten appendages that all appear to be the same length.

Thanks for the link, Polonel.

That is one different looking creature. I though I was watching the SciFi channel for a moment.

Indeed! And thinking of the diversity of lifeforms and shapes on this planet, i wonder how should a truly alien creature look like in order to appear "original" and "out of this world"! ;)

Thank you Polonel for the link.

I saw that some time ago
very creepy
I almost got goosepimples

This reminded me about a picture I found out on a website, reporting a picture of an alledged giant snake photography, which you may find at the following address:

_hxxp://www.meta-religion.com/Paranormale/Cryptozoology/Snakes/giant_congo_snake.htm

Here is the text coming along with the picture:

A Belgian chopper pilot called Remy Van Lierde took the photo (pictured left) during a patrol over the Republic of Congo in 1959. The snake he witnessed has been estimated to be anywhere from around 40-50 feet long. It was possible to estimate the size of the snake because of the many features on the ground in the images taken.
It was described by the pilot as a dark shade of brown and green with a white coloured belly. The jaws were of triangular shape. The pilot claimed the head was a massive 3 feet wide adding that as he cautiously moved in lower for a closer inspection the snake raised itself in the air as high as maybe 10 feet, looking like it may attack the helicopter.

After much expert analysis the images taken of this 'Giant Congo Snake' were deemed to be genuine.

Well there are just so many animals that science 'cant explain further'. And this is one of those! The magnapinna specie had never been captured and their feeding behavior wasnt even known.....

Well in the Philippines there has been a discovery of a giant crocodile approximately a quarter larger than the largest one captured before this one! It takes 10 people holding hand and hand to equate to its length.

Thanks Franco

21-foot male crocodile. It is huge!

While it's not 1000 ft long, it's still big:

Thanks for sharing, Polonel.

Very interesting to see such a giant creature. It sure does look like something out of SciFi movies. It just may not be the only one from the depth of the ocean's unexplored realm...

Gawd only knows what is really down there in the deep blue depths. We can send a man to the on (they say), but we cannot get down to the ocean bottom to explore. I guess that's why it's an excellent place to hide, eh?
