A huge influx of general aviation air traffic is expected to hit the San Francisco Bay Area during the first week of February in anticipation Super Bowl 50. While you're watching football on Sunday, the Air Force will be watching the skies in case an errant pilot wanders into the protected airspace surrounding the big game.

But it takes practice to intercept a slow moving Cessna with a big twin-engine supersonic fighter jet. The California Air National Guard and the Civil Air Patrol[/b] (CAP) have been busy preparing should such an encounter be required. CAP's California Wing spent an entire day last week flying two Cessna 182s low and slow around Fresno to help U.S. Air Force fighter jet F-15 crews maintain their proficiency. Another practice flight is scheduled for later this week over Oakland.

In response to 9/11 (there still milking this event) the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a permanent flight restriction surrounding every major sporting event across the United States. The standard dimensions of the restricted area are only three miles in radius and just 3,000 feet above the ground. But combination of the already congested airspace in San Francisco and the influx of airborne traffic from one of the most-watched events in the world, this flight restriction has been enlarged to a 10 mile radius

With newer restrictions around Washington DC and moving flight restrictions popping up whenever the president ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMIbP3XLhBc) decides to travel
, in flight interception between military and private aircraft have become more prevalent. So much so that the FAA has even set official In-Flight Intercept Procedures to train pilots in the event they see an F-15 or F-16 roll up and rock their wings. If a wandering pilot is shocked to see a fighter jet off their wing, what they won't see is the second fighter directly on their tail.

During the game
, the F-15s will be supported by tanker aircraft operating out of March Air Reserve Base and will be available for in-flight refueling. The high-flying gas stations will supply fuel to the fighters from an altitude of 20,000 feet, allowing the fighter jets to continually stay in the air and monitor the no-fly zone.

Whether it's a curious pilot attempting to get a bird's eye view of the historic game or a more devious attempt to cause harm, the 10 miles above Levi's Stadium will be well-guarded come Sunday.

Feel safe NOW

-____- Well I guess at least there will be something cool to look at during the game.

Big waste of tax-payers money if you ask me.

Hey... you Americans can do what you like. Your country. Just don't get mad if the rest of the world looks at you all like you were in one of those vine videos that feature people doing extraordinarily stupid things and getting themselves hurt, earning comments like they should be handed Darwin awards. [s]Gun control works.[/s] It is being proven over and over in every country that implements it. But hey... you guys wanna be like the guys in the youtube videos...the ones that accidentally shoot your nuts off because you stuck a handgun down your trouser and forgot to put the safety on... be my guest.
And hey, US... congrats on being school shooting free all of 2016, so far. Hopefully it stays that way for the 365 remaining days.

Safety Expert Reveals Five Tips For Surviving A Workplace Shooting

Not mentioning all the terror propaganda, it s five tips how to get yourself easily killed, it is so wrong that it is not even wrong. Like a wooden door and a table and chairs is going to protect them from bullets, pistol bullets go through wood like through butter, rifle bullets can go through steel if armor-piercing rounds used, not mentioning brick walls with standard rifle rounds, they ll gonna empty full mag through the door if someone is inside - casualties: considerable, running to the guy with automatic rifle who opens the door - suicide. You have better chance with jumping through the window not paying those security money vacuums a cent.

The Los Angeles subway will become the first mass transit system in the nation to deploy portable body scanners to screen passengers for explosives and weapons, officials announced on Tuesday.

The scanners, made by UK screening company ThruVision, are able to screen passengers walking through the station without slowing them down and will be deployed over the next few months according to Alex Wiggins, head of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation's law enforcement division.

“We’re looking specifically for weapons that have the ability to cause a mass-casualty event,” Wiggins said. “We’re looking for explosive vests, we’re looking for assault rifles. We’re not necessarily looking for smaller weapons that don’t have the ability to inflict mass casualties.”

The machines scan for metallic and non-metallic objects on a person’s body, can detect suspicious items from 30 feet (9 meters) away and have the capability of scanning more than 2,000 passengers per hour. -AP

We’re dealing with persistent threats to our transportation systems in our country,” said TSA Administrator David Pekoske. “Our job is to ensure security in the transportation systems so that a terrorist incident does not happen on our watch."

And before you worry about your kibbles and bits getting scanned into some secret database, rest assured that ThruVision's technology is "safe and respectful," which their website describes as "Completely safe, with no anatomical detail revealed and physical ‘pat-downs’ no longer needed."

Thruvision is a proven people-screening camera able to detect any type of object hidden under clothing. Based on patented, passive terahertz technology, Thruvision provides safe and respectful real-time imagery of items concealed in travelers’ clothing, allowing law enforcement agents to take decisive, pre-emptive action if suspicious items are seen. -ThruVision

The technology is reportedly passive, meaning it doesn't shoot beams of radiation through one's body.

Los Angeles will post signs at various stations notifying passengers they are subject to body scanner screening. And while Wiggins wants you to know that the screening process is totally voluntary - those who refuse won't be able to ride on the subway. Around 150,000 passengers ride on Los Angeles' Metro Red Line daily, while over 112 million riders used the system last year.

We can picture it now.

Transgender candidate for governor wins Vermont primary
Mid Snip:
Dustin Tanner, a Democratic nominee for the Vermont state Senate who ran uncontested on Tuesday, said he voted for Hallquist.
A self-described “Bernie-wing” Democrat, Tanner said there are parts of Hallquist’s platform that are “a little conservative” for him.

However, he said her (He- She), plan for rural broadband connectivity was a main reason why he voted for her in Tuesday’s primary. Tanner, whose day job is in the information technology department of a local school, said he’s keenly aware of how crucial it is for Vermonters to have fast internet.

When your brain is scrambled you can't cure yourself. No Hope !!!!

The scanner story is also showing the general direction where this Society is going. To the trash dump. Amazing !!!

I wonder what the health issues are for those operating these devices ;-)
