Hotmail hackers impersonating people on facebook chat.

The Living Force
A friend of mine on facebook has had her hotmail account hacked. Through that her facebook and other passwords were stolen and she was locked out of them. The hackers then appeared on the facebook chatroom to beg her friends for money etc. Its not sure if the hackers are using this to infect other peoples accounts. I don't know how that works.

If you have a hotmail account and keep getting weird requests etc, it might be a good idea to close that account and find a different email. I got rid of my hotmail account years ago.

This is just an fyi for anyone here who is finding friends in the facebook chat room acting oddly and apparently chatting from somewhere they've never been, asking for help. Its another means online predators take advantage of people, and forewarned is forearmed. :)

A couple of friends of mine have suffered with fishing scams where their facebook page automatically sends out messages trying to lure people on to the a particular site,! I think the only way it can effect you is if you open the messages, so its basically a case of avoiding anything that looks suspicious. Also, if somebody adds you as a friend, and you don't recognize them, check and see how many friends they have on their profile page, if its only a couple of people its most likely a hacker!

Thanks for the tip. Being a computer whiz is all fine and good, but hacking for the sake of manipulating people...what scum.

while i agree on that , I must say that in most cases these guys are not really hackers (yet) , You should consider them as a children who wants to learn how to hack by simply hacking and crashing things.
At the same time it should be said that responsible computer user (same with car users imo) should know how to operate his/her computer , and also should know which services are safer and which are not. Imo , one cannot blame every script kiddie out there just because one does not know how to use stuff , so again , its all about knowledge.

Quite recently i have had a few requests from people i do not know , or have no friends in common with. One needs to make a quick decision on these requests , because if you don´t make a yes no decision and leave it pending , that person can still see your posts on FB.
One can send them a personal message i suppose to ask them for some details.

And yet i got a request from a patrick Walton with only 37 friends , none in common and one does not get the option to send him a message only to add as friend. I find this a little strange. He got a no.

hmmm.
