Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): General information and discussion of Home Units

We (all family members) finally decided that it was the right time to purchase a hyperbaric chamber. Thank for everyone who posted on this tread and the abundance and precise knowledge shared about it benefice, adding it to our wellness protocol as a complement to diet, sauna, exercise etc... Became obvious. My daughter who train a lot, she will run her first half marathon next Sunday, follow many professional athlete and all use an hyperbaric chamber as a complement and help for performance and recuperation.

Our final choice for the hyperbaric chamber is this model Oxyrevo Apex32 - Oxyrevo Hyperbaric Chamber system with “all-in-one- machine”. The same model that LQB presented a few weeks ago in this post, Hyperbaric Chamber

I like the feature that it offered, the possibility to choose the ata pressure from 1.2 to 1.5 ata, because being a scuba diver I know that some people have difficulty to equilibrate the pressure within the ears canals as I saw many time during dive so it may be necessary in certain case (person) to go gradually with the pressure level in these occasion. Other feature are the all in one (more compact) and design in general as for example the many windows (could help someone who as mild claustrophobia) on the hyperbaric chamber and the esthetic of the unit in general.

So thanks for LQB for is post and his presentation of the Oxyrevo Apex 32 HBOT we contacted Tommy the sale manager at Oxyrevo for an estimate for the cost of a unit and shipping. As LQB said in his posts, Tommy knows about and follows this tread on the forum and trough the good relation that he developed with LQB he is offering the members of this forum a good discount (10%). As well, there was a 2-3 weeks delay for production but this morning Tommy email me to say that because I was from the forum, he pushed the production of my unit in priority and that it should be ready within 7 to 10 days for shipping.

Also, I contacted LQB for an evaluation of the product and he is totally satisfy with it performance so far (17 sessions).

So we are all looking forward to start our HBOT therapy and I really appreciate LQB effort in facilitating and negotiating with Tommy on my behalf and the members of the forum.

Indeed - hopefully you'll get yours soon.

As Laurentien2 said, all forum members will get a 10% discount. Best not to post prices since they are subject to change and shipping costs go up and down. PM either one of us for the current pricing and current shipping cost.

I've done 62 sessions now and for the past two or three days, my lower legs were really achy as though the bones were hurting. I even had to skip my second gym day of the week because I was afraid I would injure myself. Today, legs are better (today is my day off HBOT along with Sunday).

So far, my varicose veins are practically gone, so I expect similar vein activity going on throughout my body. My brain fog is mostly gone, my memory is dramatically better, my skin is improving overall and I sure do heal fast if I get a scratch or a bruise. (Pikabu likes to bite me when I comb her.)

I guess having your circulatory system re-tooled is something big especially if it is happening everywhere in your body including your brain.

I don't know what the aching leg bones could be, but there it is, for what it's worth.
'Growing' pains? Great to hear of your overall improvement.:hug2:

I just did my 60th session (1 hour sessions at 1.5 ATA) this morning and looking forward to possibly doing at least another 60. I mentioned in a previous post that I thought I might have COPD due to having shortness of breath and a 'tightening' in the chest area in the mornings (I'm a mason so I've probably breathed in a lot of cement dust in the last 36 years of being a mason) so I finally saw a doctor to deal with it. Even though I have many of the symptoms, the only way to get a real diagnosis is done at the hospital and there is a 10 month waiting list before I can get it done (used to be a couple of weeks prior to the covid bs). In the meantime I'm taking other tests - chest Xray, blood work, etc - to see if I may have something else that's causing it and should have the results early next week. But, whatever it is, I noticed in the last week or so that I have very little, or none at all, of the 'shortness of breath' in the mornings and the 'tightening' in the chest area is mostly gone.

What impresses me the most though, is what seems to be happening to my brain. I've never felt this way before in the 62 years of my life. The thinking is so much 'clearer' and memory, especially short term memory, seems to be so much better. It's hard for me to explain this but it's like I can 'see' more options to base my everyday choices on... Anyway, it's like my brain is being rewired for optimum functionality (but I'm sure I still have a ways to go yet).

Congrats!

Yup, my lung issues - whatever they were - have lessened significantly. I still get phlegm on some days, but that's due to my food sensitivities and I know what causes it.

And yes indeed, the same for me on the brain clarity and short-term memory. It is truly a blessing.

Ok, Carola wanted to try the chamber, she was a little bit worried due to previous experiences with her ears when flying. After just 2-3 min she had to stop, her ears were hurting badly, she yelled out to me. It was traumatic for her. The pressure was only 1.1, she said it started right away. She did all the things you're suppose to do with the jaw and swallowing etc.

Still, she wants to able to do it, but is of course worried. All I could come up with was to go really slow and stay there until it is comfortable, and work her way up.

Any suggestions?

here are technique to equilize your ears, same as in diving.

Pinching the nose, mouth close and blowing (trying) air trough your nose will force it to your ears and stabilize the pressure. She should practice it.

In my.first session I got strong ear pain.I In my second session - I dont have a chamber yet - the practitioner went really slow in raising the pressure and I did the Valsava maneuver. Also 1h in advance I used an anti histaminic nasal spray (otrivin). All of this together kept me painfree in my ears. Maybe this helps too.

Thanks, will start with going slow then.

Yes if it's possible to pressure up and down more slowly this might help, I also chewed on chewing gum so I could constantly swallow.
If it doesn't improve maybe it would be worth getting a quick check-up with a specialist to see if there is anything going on with her ears. You don't necessarily need to mention the HBOT, maybe just say that it's an issue when flying.

I had serious ear pressurizing problems the first 5 to 10 times in the chamber. But I was determined to overcome this. What I did was to do the maneuver every third breath, starting even BEFORE I began to feel the pressure. And I kept that up until the chamber was fully pressurized. I never did feel any kind of "pop", but I think what my efforts did was to slowly, but surely, force tiny amounts of air through the eustachian tube to equalize the pressure.

I didn't blow super hard while holding my nose, but I kept the blowing pressure steady and firm for a few moments. Then, I would take a couple of normal breaths, and do it again, repeat, etc.

At some point, fluid began to drain from the tubes and from my sinuses and I realized that I must have had a bunch of blockages there.

Now, I hardly have to do anything to equalize the pressure. It happens almost automatically. But it did take about 30 sessions to get to this point.

Ok, thank you all. I will pass it on to Carola. She is determined too.

She remembered that she had 5-6 severe ear infections during a short period of time as a kid (3-4 years old) and the docs decided to remove her adenoids(?) in her noise and then when she was 20 they took her tonsils. Well, maybe she can correct the underlying cause with the HBOT.
