Is Alternative Health Anti-Science?

A recent article that seems to be pumped by a pundit David Colquhoun downplaying homeopathy studies in Europe may have more to do with pharmacology downplaying the competition.

I was researching this person and his stance against nature it seems. He is coming over as a humanist, [atheist - one life only], and he is also [speculatively] being enhanced by a few big pharma boys. He has a political blog and quite a few websites, and he is hitting all these studies hard saying they have no science.

It is possible that many of these studies may not be in line with good science, but also possible they may indeed change our perception of science, that of not whacking everything that comes along with a yard stick.

When I read the [if you remember] heyday thread, it seemed the person by the name of Dane was pushing some of the exact same belief structures. Here’s a guy who is a well known honorary fellow at UCL [London] and spends a lot of time going to forums and posting info downplaying practices such as acupuncture or any type of alternative medicine because he’s a conventional medicine man of sorts.

It may be that heyday was testing you on religion and psychology which is right up the ally around here. He also talks a lot about religion elsewhere by easily searching his name.

What’s strange and dangerous about him is he is also against the war, and vehement against religion, while quite thick in with the pharma people, which just seems odd. I believe he may also have a quackery site.

I presume his students run the last link?? Honorary what? This last page has every article that has hit the news wires on the entire planet just installed today!!!!

These guys really are on the attack.

Whether David is Dane or not, I realize I cannot nail down. I would like to read any thoughts on David and his stance though, by anyone who has better neurons than I do.

Original banned heyday thread:

I did make one connection though. Heyday made this statement.

That is beginning to match him to David. Any thoughts?

Also, when I search Richard Dawkins, who David seems connected to, in this forum, the first thread that comes up is, you guessed it, heyday and the religion of psychology. The Richard Dawkins text in somewhere in the heyday post, I’m still looking for it.

When I search David Colquhoun, I find nothing, before today.

You ve said it dude. In Europe there is currently campagn going on to outlaw homeopathy.

Homeopathy is actually very cheap art when it comes to remedies. All you need is one set of remedies which you can reproduce forever.
Some of my remedies are from the stock more the 200 hundred years old.

Real nightmare for pharmaceutical industry :)
