That an interesting story and the way "Stephen Vokić, school janitor who for fifteen years" looked after the wounded stork. And the way most storks mate for life and still take care of each other. It almost seems like STO behavior I think.

Storks were once thought to be monogamous, but this is only partially true. They may change mates after migrations, and may migrate without a mate.

Storks' size, serial monogamy, and faithfulness to an established nesting site contribute to their prominence in mythology and culture.

I guess some storks don't always keep the same mate but most probably still do like this couple.
