My friend received an @-mail alert message coming from Mikhail Nasarov russian patriotic group (Nasarov is the author of the Letter of 500 prominent figures of Russian culture. who referred it to me by phone:
Yesterday at 18-00 local time there was an explosion on Chernobyl atomic power station. Ukrainian government keeps total silence on the event. Information has been passed to us by a local ortodox priest who was on spot. Please don't let your children go out of homes, shut all windows and take iodium tablets. Russian media keep a total silence too. I'm checking if any alert is coming from forums

UPDATE: there is an mail alert coming from Mikhail Nasarov's 'Russian idea', and i can't find anything at all anywhere on the net about any explosion yesterday.
If there was anything happening yesterday in Chernobyl, how with all cell phones, internet access MSM would be able to silence the event? But from the other side, Nasarov is not likely to walk around with disinfo...

We have received the information that needs to be confirmed.
It states that today, May, 17th, 2007, Kiev time, there was an explosion in Chernobyl and the reactor is burning. These data are now being confirmed. No government statements were released as for now [15 min (or 1h 15 min?) after incident]. The information was received from the orthodox priest who works in [KGB – Russian or Ukrainian Intelligence Services].
May be it is worth to warn people not to go outside for several days until the situation is clear;
Advise them to close windows and to give Iodium – Active to children to neutralize a possible radioactive poisoning.

I see nothing on the 'net about this. Only these two recent explosion in Ukraine: a cafe explosion in Yalta (hXXp://www.today.az/news/society/38672.html) and a gas pipeline explosion blamed on negligence about ten days ago (hXXp://www.eubusiness.com/news_live/1178629202.04/view).

i tried to get a word from friends in Ukraine, and it gets quite strange:
many DID receive info about an explosion on 17th, sources of info are different, it's not coming only from Nasarov.
Curiously, some did get warning about explosion in Chernobyl, and some - about explosion at South-Ukrainian nuclear power station. One person told me that gov. radio even came out with a shabby dismissal not to worry about such rumours. Small controlled explosion (not nuclear) would obliterate any hopes and aspirations of neocon's patsy cartoonish 'president' Yuschenko for pre-term parliamentary elections... Maybe it's not the case but something is in the stove...
