Mass Migration - a plan, or just a consequence of some other plan

"The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration" (II)

The following article by Judith Bergman sheds some light on this "Global Compact" that is to be agreed upon in only four weeks time. I think this is as close to openly declaring a New World Order as we have ever come.

On a second look though, the global instigators and organizers will have to keep the economy afloat and the global money flow going to implement all of their dreams...

UN Member States: Migration Is a Human Right

Article by Judith Bergman (The Gatestone Institute)

It cannot be stressed enough that this agreement is not about refugees fleeing persecution, or their rights to protection under international law. Instead, the agreement propagates the radical idea that migration -- for any reason -- is something that needs to be promoted, enabled and protected.
Almost all UN member states, except for the United States, Austria, Australia, Croatia, Hungary and possibly also the Czech Republic and Poland, are expected to sign it.

The UN has denied that migration is being made into a human right.

The UN has no interest in admitting that the agreement promotes migration as a human right; until recently there has been little debate about it. More debate might risk jeopardizing the entire project. The wording of the agreement, as documented below, leaves little doubt, however, that with the signing of the agreement, migration will indeed become a human right.

The agreement is divided into 23 objectives toward which the signatories apparently wish to work. Objective number three, for instance, envisions the promotion and enabling of migration through a number of means.

Signatory states commit to:
"Launch and publicize a centralized and publicly accessible national website to make information available on regular migration options, such as on country-specific immigration laws and policies, visa requirements, application formalities, fees and conversion criteria, employment permit requirements, professional qualification requirements, credential assessment and equivalences, training and study opportunities, and living costs and conditions, in order to inform the decisions of migrants."

States, in other words, are not only supposed to open their borders for the migrants of the world, but should also help them pick and choose their future country by providing them with comprehensive information about each country they may wish to settle in.

The service level envisioned to facilitate more migration is also high. Countries are called upon to:

"Establish open and accessible information points along relevant migration routes that can refer migrants to child-sensitive and gender-responsive support and counselling, offer opportunities to communicate with consular representatives of the country of origin, and make available relevant information, including on human rights and fundamental freedoms, appropriate protection and assistance, options and pathways for regular migration, and possibilities for return, in a language the person concerned understands."

Once migrants have arrived at their chosen destination, the signatory countries commit to:
"Provide newly arrived migrants with targeted, gender-responsive, child-sensitive, accessible and comprehensive information and legal guidance on their rights and obligations, including on compliance with national and local laws, obtaining of work and resident permits, status adjustments, registration with authorities, access to justice to file complaints about rights violations, as well as on access to basic services."

Migrants are, evidently, citizens of a new world, in which all countries must spring to the assistance of anyone who has chosen to travel and reside there for whatever reason. Borders may exist in theory, but the UN -- comprising nearly all governments of the world -- is working hard at making them disappear in practice.

Migrants, according to the agreement, must also be "empowered to realize full inclusion and social cohesion" in their new countries (objective 16). This means, among other things, that countries must:
"Promote mutual respect for the cultures, traditions and customs of communities of destination and of migrants by exchanging and implementing best practices on integration policies, programmes and activities, including on ways to promote acceptance of diversity and facilitate social cohesion and inclusion."
All cultures are equal and must be equally respected. Presumably, this means that, for example, the tradition of female genital mutilation (FGM), which almost all Somali women experience in Somalia, must be acknowledged in London and Paris as deserving of "mutual respect" in the same way that it would back in Mogadishu.

The agreement goes on to enumerate the work that states must initiate to accommodate migrants.
"National... policy goals regarding the inclusion of migrants in societies, including on labour market integration, family reunification, education, non-discrimination and health" should be developed. In addition, the host country should facilitate "access to decent work and employment for which they are most qualified, in accordance with local and national labour market demands and skills supply."
In other words, newly arrived migrants in, say, Europe, should have the same, or at least very similar, rights to education, the labor market and health care, as Europeans, who have worked hard and paid taxes for half a century to gain access to those very same things. Europeans, of course, will have to pay for all of this out of their tax money.

The authors of the agreement evidently do not expect it to go down all that well with their populations. An agreement to facilitate mass migration into primarily Western countries from the rest of the world (there is no migration to speak of in the opposite direction) may prove a bit much for people in the West. The agreement therefore clearly signals that any disagreement with the agenda will not be accepted and that the signatory states will work to dispel "misleading narratives that generate negative perceptions of migrants."

To make this objective a reality, the signatory states first commit to:
"Promote independent, objective and quality reporting of media outlets, including internet-based information, including by sensitizing and educating media professionals on migration-related issues and terminology, investing in ethical reporting standards and advertising, and stopping allocation of public funding or material support to media outlets that systematically promote intolerance, xenophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination towards migrants, in full respect for the freedom of the media." (Objective 17)
This is Orwell on steroids. Almost all UN member states will sign an agreement that says media outlets that disagree with government policies will not be eligible for public funding? On top of this, the agreement claims, bizarrely, that it is being written "in full respect for the freedom of the media", as if that is going to make anyone actually believe it.

Second, the signatory states commit to:
"... eliminate all forms of discrimination, condemn and counter expressions, acts and manifestations of racism, racial discrimination, violence, xenophobia and related intolerance against all migrants in conformity with international human rights law." (Objective 17)
The agreement, conveniently, offers no definitions of what constitutes "racism" or "xenophobia" in this context. What, for example, is "related intolerance"? Is criticism of UN migration policies, for instance, "intolerance"?

Originally, all UN member states, minus the United States, had approved the finalized text of the agreement and appeared ready to sign it in December. Recently, however, more states have announced that they are withdrawing from the agreement.

In July, Hungary withdrew from the agreement. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto described it as "entirely against Hungary's security interests," and added:
"This pact poses a threat to the world from the aspect that it could inspire millions [of migrants]. Its main premise is that migration is a good and inevitable phenomenon. We consider migration a bad process, which has extremely serious security implications."
In July, Australia also indicated that it would withdraw from the agreement, at least in its present form. According to Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton:
"We're not going to sign a deal that sacrifices anything in terms of our border protection policies... We're not going to surrender our sovereignty – I'm not going to allow unelected bodies dictate to us, to the Australian people."
In November, both the Czech Republic, and Poland announced that they were very likely to withdraw from the agreement and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic wrote in a statement that she would not be signing the agreement. "Our sovereign principles on securing our borders and controlling migration flows are absolutely the priority for us", said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Also just this month, Austria announced that it also would not be signing the agreement. "We view some points of the migration pact very critically, such as the mixing up of seeking protection with labour migration," Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said.

The European Union immediately criticized Austria's decision. "We regret the decision that the Austrian government has taken. We continue to believe that migration is a global challenge where only global solutions and global responsibility sharing will bring results" said an unnamed spokeswoman from the European Commission.

This is, by the way, the same EU that is supposedly going to be "cracking down" on migration. If you are "cracking down" on migration, why are you signing agreements that will facilitate and exponentiate it as a human right?

Regarding the UN "The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration"...

Just need to add that the new UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is none other than Michelle Bachelet who allowed 300,000 Haitians to enter Chile as "tourists" and even more immigrants legal and illegal from Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Peru and Bolivia as President of Chile. So mass immigration and open borders is indeed a global policy designed to impact/bring down a notch or two the countries who currently have the more stable economies and surplus resources.

As a permanent resident who has closely followed this issue, I recently voted along with a plus majority of Chileans to eject her would be successor leading a coalition of leftist parties who have ruled for 27 years from the Presidency.

Hard to find English articles describing the situation but I can verify this article is very accurate despite the "source".

Waves of Migrants Head to Chile, Putting a Strain on Services

After the new President finally imposed a formal tourist visa for Haitians and declared another generous amnesty for all illegals without criminal records, Chile still has hundreds of thousands of illegals due to them not registering to normalize their status in Chile. The government has started another program where any Haitian who wants to return "home" can register for an eventual flight on a Chilean air force jet back to their original country of origin. This program may be expanded to the citizens of other countries like Colombia.

Interestingly, the same plane later this month will be bringing "home" hundreds of Chileans in Venezuela who want to leave.

It seems the caravan on the video is at Veracruz and, is one of the 4 or 5 caravans going through Mexico at different states, mexican people, civic and religious organizations, universities, goverment from cities, etc ... are also helping them in food, clothes, water, roof, bathrooms, medical assistance, transportation ... I had read articles related to "Pueblo sin Fronteras" related to Soros, they are well known groups it seems from, what I cought here, Honduras and Soros behind migrant caravans? -- Sott.net, but as well as in the video, somehow they -media- do not pin point out who, from where money comes fro ... to which I find it ...curious? ...

Mabar, I don't know why they didn't want to say what organizations where funding People without Boarders in this clip. In a more recent one they did give that information and so the Soros link with funding from Open Society Foundations. I believe you are saying, some of the resources we see in the video may have come from the Mexican people as well. Judging from the list of organizations supporting this group I'd say they have access to a lot of money.

The Pueblo Sin Fronteras (“People Without Borders”) is a project of La Familia Latina Unida, a Chicago, Illinois-based 501(c)(4) illegal immigration advocacy organization formed in 2001 by Elvira Arellano, an activist for immigrants living illegally in the United States. The organization is affiliated with the Chicago-based 501(c)(3) pro-illegal immigration groups Centro Sin Fronteras and Pueblo Sin Fronteras. Together, the organizations have been involved in organizing approximately 1,000 economic migrants from Central America to attempt to cross the U.S. and Mexican borders illegally since 2010.[1]

In Spring 2018, hundreds of migrants from Central America approached the U.S.-Mexico border seeking asylum in the United States and threatening to enter illegally if their request was denied. Pueblo Sin Fronteras organized the caravan in conjunction with the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project.[10] [11]The CARA coalition consists of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, the American Immigration Council, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, all groups advocating for legal status for illegal immigrants and expanded immigration overall.[12] These organizations have been funded by a number of major left-of-center grantmaking foundations, including the Open Society Foundations, MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and Carnegie Corporation of New York. [13] The caravan eventually halted in Mexico City on April 4 instead of reaching the United States border.[14

p.s. I hadn't seen the SOTT article, so it has already been mentioned. There is a update on the link above for the October status of the caravan/s.

Cannot say precisely of the caravan in the video, cannot confim that detail -had seen/read other reports from diefferent states at different caravans ... and, I was going to say the video cannot confirmed that all resources are from Pueblo sin Fronteras in the caravan (because there are several caravans) advancing in different routes in Mexico BUT I heard again the video, at the beginning he says "found the real caravan"... Hmmm, I think it may be the original one, and yes, there were reports in Mexico about the organizers, Pueblo sin Fronteras, being one of them ...

.... divide and conquer came to my mind, my thinking process may not be good, but having read much about migration, with so much manipulation at the forum and SOTT and others ... it comes to my mind that they (organizers) did it on purpose, inciting, encouraging more caravans so they (Pueblo sin Fronteras) can move more easily ... argh!! so media may focus at other caravans.

In trying to understand both parts (USA-illegal, invasion of migrants and etc... and, people are just so fleeing, trying to apply to better life, trying to get the "american dream life") my mind get confused. It bothers me that migrants are being manipulated for political purposes, they are people, and, is a heck of a trip! they leave behind everything, they way of living being a nightmare, of course many are sick, and are in the need of assistance, I understand why they are many being young and male ... not everyone can do that trip, and they are just being used.... that's sad either way.

In a recent Washington Post op-ed, Michael Anton, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, called for an end to birthright citizenship.
His proposal was dramatic and ominous. “An executive order,” Anton declared, “could specify … that the children of noncitizens are not citizens.” Worded thus, such an order wouldn’t simply end birthright citizenship — it would strip citizenship from the children of green-card holders and illegal immigrants alike, leaving millions of American citizens suddenly without a country. Stripping millions of citizens of their citizenship would, by any reasonable definition, herald the end of the U.S.’s status as a liberal democracy. Although Anton backtracked on this dark proposal in a follow-up blog post, it’s the kind of idea that, once uttered, can’t easily be forgotten.

If Trump or any other president attempted to issue such an order, it would almost certainly be blocked by the courts, since birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the Constitution’s 14th Amendment. But the mere fact that intellectuals like Anton are willing to contemplate this sort of thing in public must exert a chilling effect on anyone thinking of moving to the U.S.

Nor are threats like Anton’s — or Trump’s harsh policies toward asylum seekers and unauthorized immigrants — the only such discouragement. Without much fanfare, the Trump administration has used rule changes to make life much harder for legal immigrants. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, for example, recently changed its policy so that foreign workers will be targeted for immediate deportation if their petition for visa extension expires while their green-card application for permanent residency is pending. USCIS also changed its website to make it appear that foreign students in technical fields are barred from working side jobs, even though the law still allows them to do so. Trump has also attempted to make it much harder for H-1B work visa holders to find employment. The list of such moves goes on and on.

In other words, Trump and his administration seem to be trying to harass skilled foreign workers out of the country. This is a terrible policy for the U.S. to be following, at a time when those workers are needed more than ever.

Across the country, states and cities are struggling with a pension crisis. With the baby boomers exiting the workforce and the national fertility rate below replacement level, governments are going to need much more tax revenue to continue to support the rapidly growing number of retirees:

A Shrinking Base to Support Retirees

Ratio of projected population of people age 18-64 to people over age 65

In addition, governments are going to need more tax revenue to pay for the police, infrastructure, education, sanitation and other services that their citizens demand. Immigrants, especially skilled ones, are key to providing those revenues. Declining regions especially need immigrants to shore up their populations as they lose people to the lure of superstar cities like New York and Los Angeles.

But the U.S. needs immigrants for reasons that go beyond tax revenue and population support. Foreign workers are crucial to maintaining American technological and industrial dominance. Without a continued inflow of skilled workers, the U.S. risks losing its edge to China and other rivals.

Recent research underscores this point. A paper by economists Gaurav Khanna and Munseob Lee takes an innovative new approach to measuring H-1B workers’ contributions. Using detailed data on which products companies sell, they found that the more H-1B workers a company hires, the more new products it sold — a sign of innovation. Additionally, they found that H-1B workers are associated with greater revenue growth. This research comes on top of earlier findings showing that when the U.S. admits more H-1B workers, patenting activity — a rough proxy for research effort — increased. In other words, skilled foreigners are continuing the tradition of immigrants boosting U.S. science and technology.

But in fact, the contributions of skilled immigrants to the U.S. economy probably go beyond their direct benefits to American companies. By doing their high-value work in the U.S. rather than in other countries, immigrants contribute to what economists call clustering and agglomeration effects.

When an Indian engineer works in Mumbai, he spends his salary at restaurants and doctors and electricians in Mumbai — but when he lives in Pittsburgh, his dollars flow to restaurants and doctors and electricians in Pittsburgh. And the more such engineers live in Pittsburgh, the more companies find it attractive to locate their research and development operations there instead of in Mumbai. That concentration of companies raises the salaries of native-born Americans working in Pittsburgh.

In other words, hire skilled workers in America, or they’ll be hired elsewhere. A recent paper by economists Lee Branstetter, Britta Glennon and J. Bradford Jensen underscored this choice. The authors show how technology companies have globalized their research and development operations over the years, moving high-value activity to countries like India, China and Israel. An increase in the economic importance of information technology meant that the U.S. just didn’t have the sheer numbers of skilled workers required to meet companies’ needs — so they went abroad for talent.

Although globalizing R&D helped multinational companies, it represents a missed opportunity for the U.S. By letting skilled workers move in, the U.S. could reap a gigantic windfall from the increasing importance of the tech industry. Cities’ productivity would increase, as would the wages of native-born high-skilled Americans, if more H-1B workers and skilled permanent residents were allowed to come.

Fortunately, skilled immigration is a much higher percentage of total immigration than it used to be:

But the U.S.’s current leaders threaten to put a stop to this trend. The anti-immigrant campaign being carried out by the Trump administration, and the dark nativist rumblings of right-wing intellectuals like Anton, are doing the U.S. economy an enormous disservice. Immigrants, especially skilled ones, are key to the country’s future prosperity, and keeping them out is monumental mistake.

This sounds like a bad joke. It ain’t. Its real. One fascist government helps another fascist government. Yes, I have written about fascism invading the west before – warning that the European Union (non-union) is being gradually, but ever faster turned into a fascist dictatorship under the guise of democratic protection of ‘Democracy’; and this by her unelected European Commission (EC) leaders (sic).

EU citizens are being brainwashed with neoliberal lie-propaganda into believing that they are living in the heart of democracy – that they are free and protected by police and military, 24/7.

Indeed, such protection can be seen at almost every street corner in France’s major cities; France, the country that had the audacity to make the permanent state of emergency part of her Constitution. And others are dutifully following Macron’s example.

No wonder, EU member country governments have all been ‘put in place’ by fake elections, with the help of Cambridge Analytica and other social media tricks, by now well-known around the globe – and even the myriad MSM (mainstream media). It would be a strange coincidence, if practically all of the heads of EU states are following either neoliberal or neonazi doctrines. In any case, the difference are a few details. Most obvious neonazis are depicted with the denigrating term of populists, disregarding the fact that a populist is someone who is liked by the people. Wouldn’t that be democracy?

The PM of Hungary, Victor Orbàn, and Poland’s far-right Andrzej Duda, fall into this category and soon Italy’s government, basically led by the far right, deputy PM, Matteo Salvini, who calls the shots in Italy, to the detriment of the Five-Star lead party, will follow suit. Everybody who refuses to bend to Brussels’ rules is a ‘populist’. It’s that simple. And it’s no coincidence.

Back to the head-story: An Israeli private military contractor, Elbit Systems Ltd, has been awarded a contract by the so-called EU, to Monitor European shores, as reported by the Palestine Chronicle. Israel’s private defense contractor has “won” a 68 million dollars two-year contract, renewable by another two years, to survey the Mediterranean Sea and most of European coastlines and to report to Brussels and the countries’ authorities. Universal surveillance and fascism are on the march – and running ever faster.

This ‘bidding process’ was for sure not an open competition. This was ‘one fascist hand washing the hand of another fascist. Yes, that’s as bad as we have become in Europe. And the populace has no clue, because they are comfortably seeing their freedom, their civil rights, their human rights, being eroded, ‘floated’ away, under the pretext of national security – and of course their own, the people’s security. – That’s what a few ‘false flag’ terrorist attacks can achieve – people scream for help, for police protection. The more the better. And who is better suited than a fascist state to respond to that call of desperation – to fulfill that fake role of protector?

Israel is known for having armed the Ukraine government which is integrated by Neo-Nazis. Israel’s purpose of policing the European coastlines is to prevent Palestine Gaza prisoners from escaping their horrible, horrible fate. Two million Palestinians need to be forcefully kept locked into this open-air concentration camp, being tortured, bombed, starved and finally killed. That’s what Zionist-Israel is all about. Mind you, that is not at all an anti-Semitic statement. There are millions of Israelis who disagree with this fascist policy. But they are being shut-up, they have no right to speak out – plus they are, like Europeans, constantly drip-by-steady-drip indoctrinated by lies, falsehoods and deceptions – that Palestinians are a danger for the survival of Israel.

This is simply NOT TRUE. It is a flagrant lie – a lie sustained by the United States, whose interest is permanent conflict in the Middle East to control the Middle Easts rich resources – and Israel is an important ally – more than an ally. Thanks to Israel’s and AIPAC’s (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the strongest Washington lobby) endless flow of money to Washington’s politicians – Israel, as the paymaster of political campaigns of both parties of the US-One-Party system – calls the shots.
Israel Continues to Sow the Seeds of Discontent

By Israel, is meant Zionist-led Israel, not the common people who want nothing more than peace and a friendly and harmonious relationship with Palestine; Israelis who are aware that they are actually camping on Palestine land – Israelis, who have not been blinded by those who have since 70 years purposefully distorted history, altered schoolbooks and pretend that this Holy Land is theirs, rather than a piece of land of mutual ownership, to be shared equally and with equal rights.

These Israelis, the vast majority, are not targeted with this article, or with the accusation of being fascists. It’s their dictator leadership, those who are in lock-step with the neofascist Trump Administration – and, well, those who call the shots in Washington, in all the so-called thinktanks (sic) that make US foreign policy. Neoliberal, cum neonazi Israel wants to eradicate Palestine, Iran, Syria, but they are in bed with the murderous Saudis – with the killers of tens of thousands of Yemeni children, with the brutal murderers of the entire Yemeni population through famine, destruction of water supply and sanitation systems, of lack-of-hygiene induced cholera and a myriad of other diseases.

Israel’s private defense contractor announced having won this monstrous surveillance contract, with the EU Maritime Safety Agency. They will patrol the Mediterranean Sea and Europe’s coastlines with drones and inform Europe’s authorities of ‘irregularities’, of refugee ships, of last-hope vessels carrying desperate people, escaping from western created misery in their lands. And Palestinian refugees are on the rise. They can no longer stand their abject fate under Israeli’s inescapable rules governing the Gaza Extermination Camp. Yes, that’s what Gaza has become. They seek refuge in Europe, paradoxically, they go to their hangman seeking shelter. But where else to go?

So, these unmanned Israeli military aircraft will automatically signal the defense forces of Israel to intercept any attempt of escaping Palestinians – to bring them back to Gaza, to their open torture chamber, and – with for sure – further punishment to follow. – Gaza’s terror conditions have become the utter “normality” seen from the western populace, especially Europeans. They will just watch Palestinians being slaughtered into fear of escaping from their open-air prison, called Gaza. –

This past weekend’s latest Gaza military incursion, instigated by Israel’s War Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, a neonazi hawk of the worst kind, followed obviously by a Hamas response – which then triggered what was planned from the very beginning – Israeli batteries of rockets launched from Ashkelon and mass bombing of what’s left of the ruins called Gaza. – did you know that a large percentage of children in Gaza have amputated limbs? – What a future, even if peace was to break out one day.

All the while Netanyahu conveniently was celebrating the Hypocrisy of the Century – the end of WWI with a bunch of hypocrites like him, Netanyahu – except for Putin, whose attendance of this fake celebration and naval-gazing I don’t understand.

That’s what the west has become, or as renowned author and journalist Andre Vltchek, would say, they have colonized, enslaved and raped Asia, Africa and Latin America for at least a thousand years – why would you expect them to change? They have gotten away with murder for so long – why would they change?

Today, they continue with different, more sophisticated methods – its financial slavehood. It’s the epitome of shameless criminal neo-colonialism. The “two to four- year contract” of Israel’s defense contractor serves as a mere proxy for EU’s terror, inhumanity and lack of compassion. Mind you, the United States is just the heritage of Europeans migrated across the Atlantic.

The company, Elbit Systems Ltd, will provide European Union countries with maritime unmanned aircraft patrol services and in theory with nothing more -which is, of course, a flagrant lie. They will ex-contractually confiscate refugee boats, as miserably rickety as they may be, contributing to more refugee deaths. By September 2018, UNHCR, Mediterranean refugee transfers have been deadlier than ever this year, having reached more than 1,600 so far.

“Rocket News” reports, “in October, Israeli companies signed purchase agreements with the United Nations for the provision of water and security service to UN forces in Africa. Israel also “won” [quotes by author] a $777 million contract for the supply of India’s missile defenses, as well as [Israel] being revealed as a lead exporter of tools for spying on civilians being used by dictatorships or authoritarian governments around the world.”

Rocket News continues,

“Such deals and multi-million-dollar contracts over a variety of regions are seen as not only a benefit to the Israeli economy but also [as proof for] the reliability of its [Israel’s] services and the subsequent potential increase of its international credibility.”

According to the Western media, whatever Zionist-Israel does, the Chosen People, it’s for the good of Mother Earth. How long will it take until the populace inhabiting Mother Earth wakes up, screaming for fear and agony, bringing an end to this farce.

A Honduran immigrant with her child is escorted by Mexican Federal Police to safety. The migrants, who had set up a makeshift camp at "Friendship Park" in Playas De Tijuana were confronted by Mexican residents as they demanded that the the migrants leave the area and threaten the migrants if they did not leave. Federal and Municipal Mexican police kept both groups separated and some incidents of violence broke out throughout the day.
Hundreds of people who arrived in Tijuana with the first wave of the migrant caravan planned to spend Wednesday night in a makeshift camp by the Pacific Ocean, steps from the tall border fence that separates Mexico and the United States. But those plans shifted in the evening, after local and state officials opened a temporary shelter – and about 300 local residents gathered by the encampment to demand the migrants leave the upscale Playas de Tijuana neighborhood and go to the facility.

During a confrontation that lasted more than three hours, area residents sang the Mexican national anthem and waved Mexican flags. They chanted “Mexico! Mexico!” each time a bus transporting migrants left the beach for the temporary shelter. Mostly women and children went to the shelters, while young men from the caravan said they were determined to stay together at the beach and await the estimated 2,000 more caravan members on their way to Tijuana.

Pushing, shoving, kicking and a couple of blows broke out between masses of residents and migrants, illuminated by the crescent moon and mobile light towers, set up by authorities on the beach on the U.S. side of the border. More than three dozen municipal and federal police watched, separating people and trying to prevent the situation from devolving into fistfights and chaos.

After midnight, residents assaulted journalists, injuring at least three, according to reporters on the scene.

By Thursday, the migrants had left the beach and joined hundreds of caravan members at a temporary shelter at the Benito Juarez sports complex. The complex has room for 3,000 people to sleep on thin mattresses on the floor of an indoor basketball court, in large, communal tents and in individual camping tents, according to a local official.

“The message to the migrant population is very clear,” Francisco Rueda Gómez, secretary-general of the state of Baja California. “We are providing them with humanitarian support, health care and food, however the need to take into consideration the rules of the shelters so they can coexist in harmony with the local population.”

Rueda Gómez said it will cost about $4 million to care for the migrants for two months, including providing food and medical care. He said the state government can only afford to fund this work for 10 days at the most, so he has asked the federal government for support.

The violent night marks the latest in rising tensions as waves of migrants arrive in the border town south of San Diego, culminating a month-long journey across Mexico.

The conflict was foreshadowed earlier in the day at the beach. By the afternoon, two large groups of migrants – a total of about 750 people – had arrived in Tijuana. The city’s migrant shelters had limited space when the caravan arrived. A large portion of the migrants said they didn’t want to be separated, opting instead to sleep at the beach.

On Wednesday evening, city and state officials announced they were opening a temporary shelter at the Benito Juarez sports complex, where 360 migrants could sleep on thin mattresses in an indoor basketball court. They started offering buses from the beach to the shelter around 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Playas de Tijuana residents marched through the neighborhood to call for security and demand the migrants go to the shelters.

By 8:30 p.m., hundreds of residents and migrants had congregated by the beach, with local residents demanding the immigrants leave the public space at the beach.

“This is not an appropriate place for them,” one local resident said. “There are appropriate places for them.”

Honduran immigrants look on as Mexican residents of Playas De Tijuana confronted the migrants who had set up a makeshift camp at "Friendship Park" in Playas De Tijuana. The Mexican residents demanded that the the migrants leave the area and threaten the migrants if they did not leave. Federal and Municipal Mexican police kept both groups separated and some incidents of violence broke out throughout the night.
One Honduran migrant, Jairo Sorto, told residents that throughout their long journey through Mexico, people had welcome and supported them – until now.

“We’ve walked across Mexico and not one state said, ‘we don’t want immigrants in this country,’” Sorto said. He asked why area residents were treating the migrants differently.

The last bus left for the temporary shelter around 11 p.m., leaving about 200 locals and about 100 migrants gathered by the beach. Some migrants tried to sleep through the commotion, sprawled on patches of grass, with blankets pulled over their heads.

The Mexican residents demanded that the the migrants leave the area and threaten the migrants if they did not leave. Federal and Municipal Mexican police kept both groups separated and some incidents of violence broke out throughout the night. As the conflict intensified, Irineo Mujica, an immigrant activist who helps organize migrant caravans, said the migrants still at the beach – and the ones en route to Tijuana – wouldn’t go to the shelters. He referred to them as “jails” with strict curfews. He said he was concerned that non-governmental organizations wouldn’t be allowed into the shelters, making it harder for the migrants to remain organized as one collective.

“For this reason – because this is oppression – we prefer to be in the streets, in the cold, rather than in a jail,” Mujica said.

There are at least three separate migrant caravans snaking their way through Mexico. Nearly 900 people from the first caravan arrived in Tijuana this week and on Wednesday night, local and state officials estimated 2,000 more were on their way. Several hundred of those 2,000 arrived Thursday morning, according to local reports. A second caravan started arriving in Mexico City Tuesday and as of Wednesday, a third caravan was traveling through Veracruz, on the eastern side of Mexico.

Rueda Gómez, with the Baja California government, said Tijuana’s migrant shelters currently have space for 700 migrants, in addition to the 3,000 spots at the sports complex.

Gustavo Magallanes, who oversees migrant affairs for the state of Baja California, said the arrival of the caravans in Tijuana is not a humanitarian crisis. The challenge, he said, is that so many people are arriving in such a short period of time. On top of that, he said, there are limited resources available for the migrants, as state and local governments are nearing the end of their fiscal years.

The state police said the suspect has no criminal record in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and that they were checking with law enforcement in other parts of Germany for more information about him. It is known that the man’s claim for asylum was rejected and that his permission to stay is to expire at the end of January 2019.

The police said the Afghan man had not stolen anything from Dietrich’s house and that he has not spoken about the murder.

Interior Minister for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Lorenz Caffier warned against using the crime for political speculation. After a spate of Afghan crimes in Germany, Caffier’s call echoes that of UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi in September.

Sending Afghans home, Grandi said, is a “complex issue,” despite a series of much-publicized attacks by Afghan nationals, like a stabbing in Chemnitz, a rape in a Berlin elementary school this September, and the rape and drowning of a teenage girl in Freiburg in 2016.
Many NATO countries can through a democratic vote press button operation initiate "helping out" fighting wars in other countries, but prove more helpless when it comes to preventing the consequences and protect their own citizens, which is probably a still more "complex issue".
The article begins:
An Afghan migrant has been arrested in Germany for allegedly slitting the throat of an elderly man whose home he worked in. The man’s daughter, a charity worker, had suggested he hire the asylum seeker.
Arriving in Germany with no job, the 20-year-old Afghan was given a helping hand by the victims’ daughter, a refugee aid worker. Last August he was hired to work as the 85-year-old man’s carer, and he was hired again over the weekend to carry out some gardening and cleaning work around the house.
Probably a case like this is not going to be the end. While the "Interior Minister for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Lorenz Caffier warned against using the crime for political speculation." it is still legal, even politically correct with no speculation involved, to take note of such instances involving "complex issues" that (according to some political forces) is beyond the capacity of a normal person to have an honest opinion about. For a historian paying attention to what happens will help to understand new political developments and interpret the past which is now our present.

After blaming everyone but herself for her embarrassing upset loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election, Hillary Clinton has finally admitted what millions of Americans have known for years now: Maybe Trump made some good points.

In an interview with the Guardian that has infuriated the "new face" of the Democratic Party that Clinton once purported to lead - ie, those "Democratic Socialist" millennials who celebrated the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - the former secretary of state and senator from New York said Western Europe needed to do something to lessen the flow of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa if it wants to stop the surging support experienced by anti-establishment and eurosceptic populist parties that have seized power in Hungary, Poland, Austria, Italy and elsewhere.

Clinton praised Angela Merkel for her "generosity" (Merkel recently walked back her earlier "open door" policy for migrants and many believe her handling of the crisis led to the drop in popularity for her party that inspired her not to seek a fifth term) before adding that the governments of Germany and others need to signal that they are "not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support."

"I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame," Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.

"I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – 'we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support' – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic."

As a reminder, Europe has struggled with the arrival of more than 1 million migrants since 2015, prompting an anti-establishment backlash and straining social services at a time when stagnant economic growth and simmering debt crises were already contributing to record youth unemployment and stagnant growth throughout much of the Continent.

The greatest irony in Clinton telling Europe to get a handle on migration is the fact that, as secretary of state, the interventionist policies she advocated - which only helped aggravate civil wars in Syria and Libya - it was Clinton who was one of the causes of the refugee wave that started with the Arab spring several years ago and has only gotten worse since.

Clinton also urged other center-left figures in the West not to ignore the issues of identity and populist anger that she says helped contribute to her loss to Trump. The former first lady urged forces opposed to rightwing populism in Europe and the US not to neglect the concerns about race and identity issues that she says were behind her losing key votes in 2016. She accused Trump of exploiting the issue in the election contest – and in office.

"The use of immigrants as a political device and as a symbol of government gone wrong, of attacks on one’s heritage, one’s identity, one’s national unity has been very much exploited by the current administration here," she said.

"There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements."

Clinton's remarks elicited accusations of hypocrisy from those on the left, some of whom also pointed out that, once upon a time, Clinton and her husband advocated many of the same strong-border policies that President Trump is pushing today.

The last refugee rescue ship working in the Mediterranean Sea, Aquarius, has ended her operations, French NGO Medecins sans Frontieres said late on Thursday, blaming harassment from Italy and other countries.

“This is a somber day,” Nelke Mander, Medecins sans Frontieres’s general director, said in a statement. “The end of our operations onboard the Aquarius will mean more death in the sea, deaths that are avoidable and without witnesses.”

The decision to moor the Aquarius is the result of a “constant denigration, smearing and obstruction campaign led” against Medecins sans Frontieres and SOS MEDITERRANEAN by the Italian government and supported by other European countries, the NGO said.

The Aquarius was recently accused of trafficking waste and criminal activities — accusations that are “ludicrous”, Medecins sans Frontieres said.

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has repeatedly closed Italian ports to the Aquarius, forcing it to sail for days with dozens of rescued migrants aboard to find a port in other countries.

Salvini has refused to take more migrants from the Aquarius, demanding other European Union countries take a share of migrants. He also said the rescue ships like Aquarius encouraged people to take the sea to cross towards Europe.

Europe has seen the biggest influx of people for decades in the past three years, many fleeing conflicts and poverty in the Middle East and Africa. Sea arrivals have dropped sharply, but the political aftershocks are still reverberating.

The ship was commissioned in February 2016 and has rescued almost 30,000 people in international waters off Libya, Malta and Italy. She has remained moored on Marseilles since Oct. 4, after transferring 58 migrants on Malta during her last mission.

Medecins sans Frontieres estimates 2,133 people died attempting to cross the Mediterranean in 2018, mainly embarking from Libya.

Add Chile to the list of countries not signing "The Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration". An impressive rejection of the policy of the previous Chile President who is now the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights whose office is promoting the compact.

Tucker Takes on Pro-Caravan Bishop: You Welcome Migrants, But Costs Are 'Offloaded' Onto US Taxpayers
Tucker Carlson had a must-see segment Thursday night in which he debated a bishop of the United Methodist Church who believes the United States should not turn away the caravan of migrants that has gathered at the southern border.

Bishop Minerva Carcano said the migrants have a right to flee poverty and violence in their home countries, and to seek asylum and receive due process.

"These are people who need humanity to extend compassion to them and love and care. It may discomfort some, but this is a moment in which we can show the best of humanity," Carcano said.

Tucker raised the issue of the massive cost to U.S. taxpayers when it comes to housing, health care, education and other basic services for illegal immigrants.

"Some estimates suggest the cost is hundreds of thousands per immigrant over a lifetime. The Methodist Church is not paying that bill, U.S. taxpayers are," Tucker argued.

Carcano argued that immigrants contribute "much more" to the economy than they take out, to which Tucker responded that studies have shown that people who come to the U.S. with less than a high school education take more from the system than they put in by a "huge margin."

Tucker noted that Carcano's church -- as a religious institution -- is exempt from paying taxes.

"If you're encouraging people to come here, why don't you have an obligation to provide them education, housing, food, medical care? But you offload that onto taxpayers. And I wonder if that's a Christian thing to do," Tucker said. "How can you feel virtuous when you're not paying for the things you're encouraging?"

Carcano said that the all the members of the United Methodist Church who live in America pay their taxes like every other citizen, and the church itself spends "millions of dollars" caring for immigrants.

"American taxpayers spend $135 billion on this," Tucker replied. "I'm just saying, if you're going to encourage people to come in here, I think you should pitch in a little bit more than you are."
