My work and life

Mr Meowgi

The Cosmic Force
I was going to put this post in the swamp but thought it would be better here. If one of yall feel it would be better suited elsewhere please move it. As I stated in my re-hello post, my wife and I just came out of a 2+ year hurricane. We were scraping by with so little it was insane. She got laid off from a job of 13 years in late 09 and I had surgery on my feet in April 12. My feet are still not healed but I am doing much better as are we both. You learn a great deal in troubled times!!!! It got very bad in late 2013 to the point where we didn't know which way to go. Didn't have the money to feed our animals even. I felt like the knight who entered the dark forest and got lost. ( that's not a first for me either ). I do understand the knights quest now far more than I did just 2 years ago. I finally finished both The secret history and high strangeness. I have a greater appreciation for them now than the first time I read them as I did get stuck in the dark forest. My faith is renewed though as some very strange things happened to change our fortunes. First, after not paying the mortgage for 4 years (since oct. 2009) , the bank release our mortgage due to lack of proper paperwork ( ie. the deed ) because it was sold four times. Then in December my wife who is excellent in IT finally gets a Job that started in January. These two events blew me away. There is quite a bit more to this story but I am just skimming. Since March I have been able to go back to a ketonic diet. That was one of the hardest changes I have ever made, and I am still not perfect at it. But dairy is out and most breads. Locally grown beef chicken and pork is our meat supply. 7 bridges farms for anyone in the upstate N.Y. area. But thanks for letting me tell this tale.

Thank you for sharing Meowgi & nice to hear you're making progress with your diet.
Perhaps you should eliminate all sources of gluten from your diet if you still continue to eat some breads as you say ;)

It's sometimes really amazing how things in our life can change so quickly. Happy for you, after such tribulations ! And hold on for the diet !

I'm glad things are working out for the better, it seems you've been through
some turbulent times and things are now clearing up.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing! Hope for the better!

You know, Mr Meowgi, sometimes I think that a life full only of certainty would be meaningless. Your story shows that you are a strong and corageous person. Keep on!

I am glad that things are going better for you and your wife. Sounds like you have been through quite a tough time!

Working on the gluten, going to buckwheat bread to soak up my eggs.

Let me be the one to break it to you - buckwheat is out.. I know, i thought i could buckwheat my way through it, till i was informed that buckwheat, due to the way it's grown (apparently on fields previously used for wheat) and that it may be an analog in some sense to gluten. Either way, it's out. Sorry Mr Meowgi! It could be worse though ;) Congratulations on the turnaround! :D

Gluten free may be more difficult theses days than I had thought. The only reason I like some sort of bread is to clean up my egg plate. There are some gluten free bread companies where I live. We as well have the number one public market in America. Fresh home grown fruits , veggies meat and Amish butter are easily obtained.

Bacon and sausage work quite well for me in that respect. What is left, I can discreetly lick off.

Thank you, Mr Meowgi, for sharing your tale, as it is very inspiring...

My wife and I have a rather similar path, up to being almost a joke (without being one...)

I was laid out in 2009 from my last job in IT (I am presently trying something new for which I'm studying, namely, nutrition, but was an IT guy all my life...)

My wife had surgery on her foot after a bus accident (of all things!!), and I am actually bankrupt since early 2013...

this being said, recently, we found ways to save in food shopping by eating far much better (veggies at market, meat at local butcher...) and both my wife and I have gotten into study (me with nutrition, my wife with photography...) and generally speaking, although we are what apparently is regarded as poorly, we are far from it! we are getting better and better, for unforeseen reasons...

I know it seems far fetched, but your tale and mine seem somewhat similar enough that I find yours very inspiring indeed, so, thank you again for sharing...

:cool2:
