Hi guys, I just spent a week at my mothers and stepfathers summer cottage which was refreshing in many ways. I found an old coffee grinder that looked like it hadn't been used in many years; it turned out that it used to belong to my grandmother. I asked my mother if I could have it, since I've been planning to get a grinder to grind seeds and stuff, and she agreed. The grinder was in pretty bad shape but I was happy to spend a few hours cleaning it up. Then I honed and polished it, replaced a few screws and finally I varnished it with a nice dark lacquer.
I'm happy how beautiful it turned out and the old metal grinding parts seem to be very sturdy and in good shape - they sure knew how to make good quality parts in those days (I estimate that the grinder is at least 70 years old). And it works really well too. It has a simple trimming mechanism for grinding stuff in different sizes. So far I've made nice powder of eggshells and sesame seeds, since those are good sources of calcium and especially suitable for our son. :)
