NZ Herald said:
The Antarctic ozone hole grew to the size of North America in September, the fifth largest recorded in nearly 30 years.

The information released yesterday by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the ozone hole fluctuated in response to temperature and sunlight.

It had grown to the size of North America in a one-day maximum in September, making it the fifth largest since NOAA satellite records began in 1979.

The primary cause of the ozone hole was human-produced compounds called chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, which released ozone-destroying chlorine and bromine into the atmosphere.

Earth's protective ozone layer acted like a giant umbrella, blocking the sun's ultraviolet-B rays. Though banned for the past 21 years to reduce their harmful build-up, CFCs still took many decades to dissipate.

The NOAA scientists found that colder than average temperatures in the stratosphere played a part in allowing the ozone hole to develop more fully this year.

Nasa satellites measured the maximum area of this year's ozone hole at 27.2 million sq km and 6.4 km deep on September 12.

Bryan Johnson, a scientist at NOAA's Earth System Research Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado, which monitors ozone, ozone-depleting chemicals and greenhouse gases around the globe, said weather was the most important factor in the fluctuation of the size of the hole from year to year.

"How cold the stratosphere is and what the winds do determine how powerfully the chemicals can perform their dirty work."

Greg Bodeker, Niwa principal scientist, told the Herald the ozone hole was shrinking, but very slowly. He said the chemicals that mostly depleted ozone, chlorine and bromine, were decreasing at about 1 per cent a year but there were annual variations.

Dr Bodeker said it was estimated that ozone would return to 1980 levels in the next 60 to 70 years. Increases in greenhouse gases had contributed to the problem as they trapped infra-red radiation which warmed up the lower atmosphere, or troposphere, up to 15km altitude.

The upper atmosphere, or stratosphere, became cooler as a result, which promoted Antarctic ozone depletion and delayed the recovery of the ozone hole.

Note: The following information was taken from a book written by Barbara Marciniak, titled Earth Pleiadian Keys to the Living Library. I did not quote word for word what is written in the book.

According to the Pleiadian's (IMHO are the same beings as the C's), the hole in the ozone layer fluctuates naturally and has been much larger in the past. This fluctuation is not caused by what our scientist attribute it to. They say the suns rays are not harmful but in fact play a very important role in our evolutionary process currently taking place. The PTB have created a fear of the sun in order to counter act the changing within the human race. We have been told to protect or skin from the sun and since the introduction of sun screen, skin cancer has risen. The holes in the ozone will actually speed up our evolutionary process. There are those who say "Don't look at the sun it will damage your eyes". The P's say we will have a change in our eye structure, a mutation within the optic nerve that will unlock a new type of vision and unlock what has been holding us in 3D.

A search for "Ozone Layer" on SOTT reveals the following clues from the C's.

That sounds reasonable.

Please quote that passage where they say the sun's rays are not harmful. Which rays? All rays? Most of the electromagnetic spectrum will kill you.

The PTB have created a fear of the sun in order to counter act the changing within the human race.

Xman said:
Well the PTB do promote a lot that is the opposite of what is beneficial, but I think you are going a little overboard here. Ultraviolet light and higher frequencies will kill you, microwaves can kill you, gamma rays can kill you, ....

Where did you get this, "The holes in the ozone will actually speed up our evolutionary process."? This sounds like nonsense to me. Those working in Antarctica would probably be evolved beyond us by now then I would think. Evolutionary process is itself subjective. Evolutionary process can also mean extinction.

There are those who say "Don't look at the sun it will damage your eyes". The P's say we will have a change in our eye structure, a mutation within the optic nerve that will unlock a new type of vision and unlock what has been holding us in 3D.

Please quote the passage. I am not sure but I think you are taking things out of context and imparting your own spin onto things. The devil is in the details, when and how, under what circumstances, .... If this is so, then I would suggest you go stare at the sun for a couple hours each day and let me know how that turns out. It might get you to 5D and then you certainly would have escaped 3D.

Selective data and also a misinterpretation of what the session imparts. Did you miss the part of the response:

A: Misinterpretation, review statement thoroughly.

You are missing the big picture that all is interconnected and cyclical. And also what you think is beneficial seems to have a lot of assumptions. Just because there may be other densities, just because the Wave may be approaching, does not mean that you or I or any particular person will go to 4D, let alone 4D STO.

FYI - session 970222

A: Climate is being influenced by three factors, and soon a fourth.
Q: (L) All right, I'll take the bait; give me the three factors, and also the fourth!.
A: 1) Wave approach. 2) Chlorofluorocarbon increase in atmosphere, thus affecting ozone layer. 3) Change in the planet's axis rotation orientation. 4) Artificial tampering by 3rd and 4th density STS forces in a number of different ways.

Just an additional note to Michael.

The main thing I got from your post was the idea that you think the ozone hole is beneficial and the PTB are hiding that fact and it is really good for us.

The big picture that the C's were trying to convey is that the ozone hole is a sign of the approach of the Wave. But so is psychological domination of the planet, and so is contamination of the environment, so is corruption of the food supply, so is melting glaciers and growing icecaps. That does not make them good or bad, they are signs. I don't think the poisons in the air and food and water are good for us but they are also signs of the approaching wave and reality merging. It is all interconnected and cyclical. I don't think anywhere is it implied that the ozone hole is beneficial to human beings. It is a sign.

New data is out showing that this year's ozone hole is one of the largest on record, and it continues to grow. Other years for large ozone holes include 2006, 2020, and now, 2021; so it may be that larger ones are becoming more frequent.

There's some nifty gifs showing the size progression over the years but you'll have to visit the article to see them because i couldn't embed them here.

Interestingly, they note that in 2018 there was a 'high level pollution event' in China that should have impacted the ozone hole, causing it to grow according to their theory, and yet the year after, in 2019, the hole was the smallest ever on record. Their theory doesn't say that these chemicals will make the ozone hole fluctuate wildly, just that it will grow.

Their theory seems further disproven because the chemicals they claimed were causing ozone hole to grow have been banned since 1987, and following the ban the hole did begin to shrink, and they claimed victory, but now the hole seems to be growing again, contrary to their theory that it was the chemicals that were to blame, so they've had to resort to blaming 'man made global warming' (that has since been rebranded as the 'climate crisis/climate change'). However, at the very end of the article they also admit it would be 'impossible' to link 'unprecedented heatwaves' with the growing ozone hole.

Interestingly, despite their claims of 'unprecedented heatwaves', they admit that the data shows that the stratosphere is cooling.

Ozone hole above Antarctica is one of the largest ever, it's still growing, and may be linked to the COOLING stratosphere

Ozone hole

Ozone hole September 2021: This year's Antarctic ozone hole is already among the 25% largest in recorded history and is still growing.
A giant ozone hole has opened up over Antarctica this year. Already larger than the entire ice-covered continent, the ozone hole has surpassed the size of 75% of ozone holes measured since 1979 and is still growing. Scientists believe climate change might be the cause.

The Montreal Protocol, signed in 1987, is frequently described as the world's great success story in battling human-caused destruction of the environment. The agreement banned harmful chlorofluorocarbons and other substances known to destroy the protective ozone layer, which absorbs damaging ultraviolet UV radiation coming from the sun. The concentrations of the damaging substances in the atmosphere have leveled off since the protocol came into force and are slowly decreasing, providing the foundation for the layer's gradual healing. But worsening climate change is now slowing down the recovery.

"It's still a matter of research to fully understand the connection between the ozone recovery and climate change, but we know that there is a coupling between ozone depletion and temperature," Vincent-Henri Peuch, director of the European Union's Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, which released the data on Thursday (Sept. 16), told Space.com.

While temperatures at the planet's surface are increasing, the stratosphere, where the protective ozone shield resides, is cooling down. The stratosphere, the layer of Earth's atmosphere about 6.5 to 30 miles (10 to 50 kilometers) in altitude, is where the so-called polar stratospheric clouds form in winter. Scientists know today that these clouds provide the perfect chemical environment for the damaging chlorine and bromine-based substances to do their destructive work. They also know that the colder the temperature of the stratosphere, the more polar stratospheric clouds tend to form, Peuch said.

Comment: And polar stratospheric clouds seem to be increasing, and becoming more phenomenal: "Once in a lifetime" outbreak of polar stratospheric clouds captured on video above Sweden

"Sometimes the ozone hole is small because there are no polar stratospheric clouds and sometimes, when there are many, it tends to be bigger," Peuch said. "With more polar stratospheric clouds, chlorine and other harmful substances can work more effectively and cause more damage even if their concentrations are decreasing."

When the Montreal Protocol was signed, scientists predicted that the ozone layer would fully recover by 2060, Peuch added. Recent measurements, however, suggest that this healing process is slowing down and that a full recovery could be expected no earlier than in 2070.

Comment: This 'recovery' is more than slowing down, it appears to be reversing, contrary to the theory and predictions of the Montreal Protocol.

Climate change isn't entirely responsible; some countries continue using and releasing the banned substances illegally.

"In 2018, high levels of banned chlorofluorocarbons were detected in the atmosphere that were eventually traced to China," Peuch said. "If such illegal emissions go undetected for some time, that could really compromise the whole process because the chlorine and bromine in the atmosphere could stop levelling off and stabilize or even increase."

Peuch, however, says that the size of the ozone hole varies substantially year to year and trends are hard to pick out. This year, the ozone hole already covers an area of 8.5 to 8.8 million square miles (22 to 23 million square km), just 700,000 square miles (2 million square km) short of the 2006 record level of 9.7 million square miles (25 million square km). Peuch predicts the hole will continue to grow until early October, when temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere will start to rise.

2020 also saw a very large, and the longest lasting, ozone hole that only closed in late December. In 2019, on the other hand, the ozone hole was the smallest in recorded history.

The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, uses data from several satellites that detect ozone in the stratosphere by measuring the passage of the ultraviolet and infrared components of sunlight through the atmosphere. The less ozone present, the more ultraviolet and infrared light gets through. Sophisticated computer models then combine the data, just like in weather forecasting.

Peuch said researchers are still trying to unpack the connection between climate phenomena experienced on Earth and the processes in the stratosphere. It is therefore impossible to say whether this year's unprecedented heatwaves in many parts of the world and the gaping ozone hole might be connected.

I'm no expert on any of the above and my understanding is very superficial, but, what came to mind, was that it is probably related to solar minimum and the other space weather and its effect on our planet, and others.

Wondering exactly why it's Antarctica that is affected, the following article, and those linked within, came to mind:

There is something ‘wrong’ with what and how the video is showing the ‘data’. A bit of digging would be fun.

Me neither but that's a pretty good observation Madame.

End Snip:
Decreased solar activity by 6.5 W m−2 is found to yield up to a doubling of the GHG-induced stratospheric and mesospheric cooling. Under the grand solar minimum scenario, tropospheric temperatures are also projected to decrease compared to the reference. On the global scale a reduced solar forcing compensates for at most 15 % of the expected greenhouse warming at the end of the 21st and around 25 % at the end of the 22nd century. The regional effects are predicted to be significant, in particular in northern high-latitude winter. In the stratosphere, the reduction of around 15 % of incoming ultraviolet radiation leads to a decrease in ozone production by up to 8 %, which overcompensates for the anticipated ozone increase due to reduced stratospheric temperatures and an acceleration of the Brewer–Dobson circulation. This, in turn, leads to a delay in total ozone column recovery from anthropogenic halogen-induced depletion, with a global ozone recovery to the pre-ozone hole values happening only upon completion of the grand solar minimum.

What is the Civil Reserve Air Fleet?

The Civil Reserve Air Fleet was established in 1951 following the Berlin Airlift, when the United States determined it needed supplemental airlift capabilities and those needs could be met by civilian aircraft. In its current form, it is a voluntary program that US airlines can join. They pledge to make aircraft and crews available on short notice to the US military under the US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). In exchange, those airlines are given preference for carrying peacetime cargo and passenger traffic for the Department of Defense. The CRAF has been activated twice before, in 1990-1991 during the first Gulf War and again in 2002-2003 during the build up to the Iraq War.
