Power Cut & Car Alarms?

Is it normal for car alarms to start going off during a power cut? Because that's what just happened. It tripped out at around 8:18pm GMT and was off for about two minutes, and I went outside to listen and I could hear quite a few. The first thing I thought was EMP.

It might be. Have you seen "The Core" where 30 people died to the second? They all have pacemakers, and it was due to EMP. So, it might be possible that EMP or distrubance of it is in play. osit.

Phoned my sister who lives about a mile away, and her power was fine. She corrected me and said, "You mean, house alarms?" I said no, heard the beeps when they were being turned off. Hmm...

Just to add something :)

"Remote keyless systems consist of a key fob transmitter and a
receiver inside the vehicle. They most commonly use a frequency
of 315MHz in the the U.S. and Japan, and 433.92MHz in Europe.
Europe has also opened up the 868MHz band to accommodate the
growing demand for remote keyless entry systems."

Could have been several house alarms and one car alarm sounding (coincidentally), because a friend just phoned here and said it was going off (house). Probably nothing, was just a teensy bit spooked. ;)
