Seems that exposure to predators could be a good thing:

Damselfish exposed to predators had drastically higher survival suffering only 10% mortality while controls suffered 60% mortality 72 h after release.
 
Interesting find. This kinda makes sense to me.

The appearance of "extra" eyes on the body of 2D creatures seems symbolically related to us in 3D gaining "extra" awareness. "What does not kill you makes you stronger."

In the 2D sense it shows the predators that I am watching out for you. In the 3D sense, you have gained experience and hopefully knowledge so you can protect yourself better next time. With our lesson learned, a predator will more likely move on to easier targets.
