Questions

1. I can't comment on articles which are listed under "Recently added" with my forum user ID & password?! Do I need a seperate registration to do so?

Yes, you need a separate registration for SOTT. Look for the link at the top of the page.

2. Do articles like http://www.sott.net/articles/show/164811-UK-Spider-forces-family-out-of-home really need to be covered by SOTT? From my POV this is just meaningless noise....

Well, apparently not. But we could use some "lighter" stuff once in a while, couldn't we? Don't know about you but there's a certain limit for the more depressing stuff that I can take. After that, I just tune out. Other readers may have similar experience.

Since your first question has already been answered, I thought I'd give me 2 cents on the second one. ;)

Greetz, transdimensional[/quote]

Everyone has things that they like to read. I am quite interested in what is going on in the world and having an objective view of it is quite important.

But after awhile it is sometimes overwhelming. It is nice not to have to go to another news site to get a little relief from the horrors going on in the world. To be able to puruse around the site and see if there is anything of a not quite so horrific nature to occupy the mind for just a little while.

And there might be others who actually come to the site just for the variance of articles.

So there's my 2 cents. :D

I think it's quite suitable under the heading "Our Living Planet".

Maybe it's just nature's revenge

Well, if the article is still there (after being brought up to editors' attention as a noise in potential) I guess that there is indeed a reason for him to be posted. ;)
Besides, considering the fact that one of the goals of this site is to gather information and connect the dots, it can't be known for sure if some particular news item is just a 'meaningless noise' and not going to be a valuable missing puzzle piece. And SOTT editors work daily on refining the 'dots gathering' skill. Who knows, maybe several months from now we will start hearing about 'mysterious camel spiders infestation' in UK. But for us it won't be so 'mysterious' :P

it's also interesting that this spider supposedly 'invaded the UK' from Afghanistan, when it hitched a lift with a UK soldier returning from duty there. kinda poetic justice (on a very small scale) doncha think!?
