Rita

Recently here in Japan, there has been a campaign to popularize the idea of “Rita”. Rita is the so-called "altruism" of evolutionary psychology, which means "to endure for the sake of others, even if it means suffering a little during the corona”. Since Japan is a Buddhist country, Rita is considered to be in line with Buddhist teachings. However, this is nothing but a renaming of the slogan of our country during World War II, which was a rehearsal for the "end of the times," "For the good of the Nation" and "Selfless Devotion”.

That is actually a very interesting connection, I was just discussing this with some people the other day, the "brilliance" of the entire corona business wasn't really scaring people with dying.. although that was enough for some individuals, it was scaring some people with something closer to "everyone will know that you're a bad person"

Which is another way to coerce people into behaving in a specific way because what you threatened wasn't the end of their life, it was the rest of their lives under the banner of isolation from society and scorn from the same.

It was emotional blackmail on a global scale, and sort of optimized for specific regional tactics that were more. personalized, so to speak, the whole Rita probably worked in Japan, but may have not worked elsewhere where people had a different psychological constitution.

In the US it wasn't so much a sacrifice for the good of the world, it was sold more as look how good it would feel to be "part of the solution", so the message was targeted at the individual and what it could gain from behaving, rather than the gain attained by all that one could participate in. The difference is subtle, but clear I think.
