So what's up with the insects as food craze?

Not that we needed any more memes-as-reality manifestations but "bugmen" might turn into a real thing. After all, you are what you eat.

It appears our overlords have been switching from veganism to genetically engineered burgers and now to eating bugs. And boy do they love to put up videos online of disgusting displays of maggots being eaten with some soyboy early adopter and music in the background. I swear, it almost primarily seems like some sort of psychological conditioning and trauma inducement. I've also noticed a few internet defense force style twitter accounts that get into your mentions when you say something bad about eating insects like this one https://twitter.com/Entovegan

I don't know, to me eating insects seems like an even bigger violation of the natural order than being vegan for God's sake. It feels anti-human to an nth degree.

From an evolutionary perspective this seems sketchy. From a subjective perspective, it's obviously gross.

Has there even been any proper, independent research into this?
