Until yesterday, I always thought that soy was a "miracle food". I took some "bionutrition" courses in France, where I learned all the beneficial aspect of soybeans and the products made of them, its wonderful source of protein being one of the very few types of foods that contain the 8 basic amino acids, etc.

BUT: As usual, whenever one does not pay attention to the bigger picture of this sickening reality we live on, I forgot to look for real information.

Dr. Blaylock: I wouldn't recommend either one. If you're obsessed with milk, use goat's milk. It's closer to human milk, but I wouldn't recommend cow's milk or soy milk. I think people ought to avoid soy products as if they were poison. [...]

Mike: What about the argument from food companies? I actually got into a debate with a veggie burger manufacturer, because I wrote an article that said their product had yeast extract in it, and yet the front label said, "100 percent all-natural ingredients." They said, "Well, glutamate appears naturally in other foods, like tomatoes and seaweed." What's your answer to that kind of defense?

Dr. Blaylock: Sure, but you see, all of these types of glutamate are bound. They're in oligosaccharides, polysaccharides. They are bound in amino acids groupings. They're not free amino acids. If you have it as a complex protein, you absorb it in your GI tract. In the GI tract, there are almost no free amino acids if you eat foods such as tomatoes. The level of free amino acids is nil; it's almost all absorbed as combined amino acids, and then it's only broken down in the liver, where it's released in very low concentrations that the body can deal with. It was never meant to have free amino acids in such high concentrations.

Well, when you hydrolyze them -- or you use yeast extract or enzymes to break down these various proteins into their free, released amino acids -- they're not natural any longer. What you've done is artificially release the amino acids in an unnatural way, and when they enter your GI tract, they are absorbed as free amino acids, then your blood level of that glutamic acid goes up significantly. As I said, it can go up as high as 20-fold, in some cases 40-fold. Your blood brain barrier is not constructed to handle such high levels of glutamate, because it doesn't naturally occur that way. It can handle the lower levels, but it can't handle these very high levels. So this argument, "Oh, it's natural," is just a lot of nonsense.
Now, if you try to find information about the beneficial effects of Soy, it is very likely that you will only find it in New Age websites or a few scientific articles that sound more like desinfo than anything. However, one can also find the following after doing some more research:

What's bad about soy?:

Contains Isoflavones (Genistein and Daidzein). In soy the isoflavones are built in insecticides. If they kill bugs are they good for humans?

Isoflavones are estrogen like substances which have the same effect as the bodies estrogen. Cancer comes from having too much estrogen. Irritability and mood swings, fat gain from the waist down, fibrocystic breast disease uterine fibromas are all associated with estrogen dominance. Instead of helping prevent the bad effects of environmental or natural estrogen dominance soy isoflavones are now known to increase the bad effect of estradiol and estrone the two major bad guys of the estrogen family. Kills testicular tissue. In men it permanently reduces testicular function and lowers Lutinizing Hormone production. LH is what signals your testicles to work. This increases the probability of estrogen dominance in men with its hair loss, swollen and cancerous prostates. (4,5). Male children fed soy formulas and soy products may not ever get to like girls. Dorris Rapp MD, the worlds leading pediatric allergist, asserts that environmental and food estrogens are responsible for the increase in male homosexuality and the worldwide reduction in male fertility. Isoflavones decrease thyroid hormone production. This can stunt children's growth and make the rest of us tired and fat. (7,8,9).

Female children fed the estrogens in soy formula and products hit puberty very very early sometimes as young as age 6 to 8! (10).

Pregnant women eating soy products may effect the sexual differentiation of their children. Studies show malformations of the reproductive tract or offspring born with both male and female sexual organs. (11).

Isoflavones decrease GOOD cholesterol (HDL). (12,13).

Soy contains Phytin, which takes essential minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium etc. out of the body before they can be absorbed. Also soy contains Trypsin inhibitors block this vital anti cancer enzyme, anti fibrosis enzyme. (14).

A 7000 man 30 year epidemiological study done in Hawaii shows soy is connected with a higher rate of Vascular Dementia (Alzheimer's disease). (15,16).

Any opinions to contradict the facts noted above have been paid for by the Agribusiness giants Monsanto and Archer Daniels Midland. Once public knowledge of their manipulation of public opinion and of the FDA becomes widely known, expect monster class action lawsuits against these folks. They'll deserve it in spades!

The Soybean Industry in America

In 1924 soybean production in the U.S. was only at 1.8 million acres harvested, but by 1954, the harvested acres grew to 18.9 million. Today, the soybean is America's third largest crop (harvesting 72 million acres in 1998), supplying more than 50 percent of the world's soybean demand.

Most of these beans are made into animal feed and are manufactured into soy oil for use as vegetable oil, margarine and shortening. Of the traditional uses for soy as a food, only soy sauce enjoys widespread consumption in the American diet. Tofu, measuring 90 percent of Asia's use of the soybean, has gained more popularity in the U.S., but soy is still nowhere near a measurable component of the average American diet - or is it?

For more than 20 years now, the soy industry has concentrated on finding alternative uses and new markets for soybeans and soy byproducts. At your local supermarket, soy can now be found disguised as everything from soy cheese, milk, burgers and hot dogs, to ice cream, yogurt, vegetable oil, baby formula and flour (to name just a few). These are often marketed as low-fat, dairy-free, or as a high-protein, meat substitute for vegetarians. But soy isnít always mentioned on the box cover. Today, an alarming 60% of the food on America's supermarket shelves contain soy derivatives (i.e. soy flour, textured vegetable protein, partially hydrogenated soy bean oil, soy protein isolate). When you look at the ingredients list, and really look at the contents of the "Average American Diet," from snack foods and fast foods to prepackaged frozen meals, soy plays a major role.

To summarize, traditional fermented soy products such as miso, natto and tempeh, which are usually made with organically grown soybeans, have a long history of use that is generally beneficial when combined with other elements of the Oriental diet including rice, sea foods, fish broth, organ meats and fermented vegetables. The value of precipitated soybean products is problematical, especially when they form the major source of protein in the diet. Modern soy products including soy milks and artificial meat and dairy products made from soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein are new to the diet and pose a number of serious problems.
Pfff... And there is much more. Specially about the FDA and big corporations trying to cover it up. Now, that explains why there is such a campaign to promote soy. As if it had done anything to reduce hunger in the World!

How did the lowly bean once regarded as a poisonous substance and used as a gasoline additive in the 1920s become the darling of health gurus and beauty advisors?

Blame the misinformed, the imitation food industry, the advertisers, and the American soy farmers who have leapfrogged economically over wheat, corn, and cotton farmers by boldly marketing soy to manufacturers in this country and exporting mega-tons of soy products to the rest of the world.

Exactly what is wrong with soy?

1. Soy is a phytoestrogen. In other words, it increases the estrogens in those who consume it. Is it any wonder, then, that children raised on soy formulas are entering puberty far earlier than previous generations? Or that women taking hormone replacement are more apt to develop breast cancer if they have a history of soy consumption?

2. Childhood diabetes, concurrent with rising adult obesity, has reached a national emergency. Reports suggest that children raised on soy-based products have twice as much chance of becoming diabetic as those who were breast-fed or consumed milk-based formulas.

Infants receiving soy formula are unwitting victims. Researchers conclude that they can expect high rates of reproductive disorders, asthma, and allergies. They may also suffer from brain damage caused by toxic manganese. Scientists report that soy infant formula contains up to 200 times the manganese of breast milk. Since babies cannot dispose of the excess, it lodges in the liver, the kidneys, the brain, and other soft body tissues. In time, manganese toxicity can lead to emotional behavior.

3. Young girls who develop breasts and pubic hair before the age of eight are no longer uncommon in public schools, but first, second, and third graders bewildered by their changing bodies are not sufficiently mature to handle peer teasing and the responsibility of changing sanitary napkins during the school day. Additionally parents and teachers worry that the rise of early puberty contributes to increased sexual activity among teenagers, even pre-teens.

4. Many women taking estrogen to ease or postpone the aging process unwittingly multiply the amount they consume by supplementing their prescriptions at the dinner table. This is double jeopardy.

Fallon and Enig attribute the explosion of soy products to claims by its boosters that Japanese enjoy better health than Americans because they consume great quantities of soy. This is simply soy-wash.

“Soy is a condiment in Asian diets, not a staple,� Dr. Enig says. “No one could call mustard a staple in the American diet even though it is a very typical foodstuff.�

She emphasizes that the daily average soy food consumption in Asia is less than nine grams, or about two teaspoons. This compares with the 35 grams of soy protein per day recommended by the FDA. Studies show that the daily intake of 45 mg for one month can cause hormonal changes in women, and yet the average daily intake of children receiving soy formula is 38 mg, a shocking amount considering the difference in body weight between infants and adults. In December 2003, Fallon testified before the FDA’s Food Advisory Committee about the negative health impact of soy infant formula. No action has yet been taken by the government to warn consumers.

Here in America, possibly because of our Puritan heritage, we seem to feel the need to cast any rotten evil thing that we do in a guise that makes us appear as the world's benefactor. This is no less true of corporations than it is of government. Nowhere else in the world does a nation's propaganda ministry spend so much effort to appear "good" while justifying the most evil things the mind of man can imagine. In America, the "cover story" has been raised to an artform. Consider the willful destruction of the world"s food chain by a merger of corporate and government interests as a case in point.

A conference on genetically engineered agricultural products was recently sponsored by the US department of Agriculture in Sacramento, California. Police in riot gear were sent to control the angry crowds that swarmed the streets making very clear the fact that they do not want to be forced to consume GM food.

The US department of Agriculture who, theoretically represent the interest of the American people, presented the needed "cover story" for the forcible promotion of GM foods. According to their story, it seems these GM food products were developed to "reduce hunger and improve nutrition by using advanced technology". The benefit is designed to be all for the small farmer who can "reduce the use of pesticides on his GM crops". Of course they can use less pesticide--pests don't like to eat franken food any more than people do.

US Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman said "What we're talking about is increasing food productivity in areas of the world where people are both hungry and poor. Many developing countries get 90% of their food from local production and there isn't any infrastructure. That means that they save seed from one year to the next and do not have to come to the seed companies to buy seed to plant crops every year.

Lets get the facts on the table. What Ann Veneman was really talking about is building a government/ corporate monopoly that alone has absolute control over the food supply of the entire world. The independent farmer who does all the work becomes enslaved. Having total control over the food supply has been a dream of those who manage the American food chain since Wesson first started to engineer edible oils in 1911.

Where is our antitrust protection from these ravening wolves? Exactly what is it that the FDA doesn't understand about its responsibilities to assure a safe food supply.

A glimpse at agricultural history

The step up to using genetic engineering technology to render our crops impervious to herbicides is a natural extension of the practice of establishing hybrid seed technology that is now an accepted fact throughout agriculture. Once, before the profit motive dominated every area of life, seeds reproduced their own kind with great repeatability. When seed companies got into the act they selectively bred a variety of hybrid seed that would not reproduce themselves. When the farmer, typically not any less gullible that most of us, bought into this scenario he found himself forced to buy seed every year for whatever price the seed purveyor chose to ask. Previously, with the expenditure of a little extra work every year he could save his seed and not have to pay anybody anything to plant his crops.

Now the farmer has to come to the seed companies every year, hat in hand, to see what his seed is going to cost him. He is forced to pass on these costs in the price of food.

GM agriculture was specifically developed to make the crops immune to the use of herbicides. When weeds develop in a field containing a food crop, the farmer sprays the field with an herbicide. Theoretically, if the concentration of herbicide is correct, it kills the weeds and spares the crops. The repeated use of this technology has bred a weed population that has proved increasingly resistant to the use of herbicides.The window between a lethal dose of herbicide for the weeds and a safe dose that would not kill the crop also has narrowed dramatically. The money making solution to this dilemma is to "engineer" the gene structure of the crop for increased resistance to the herbicide.

The keystone cops of the scientific community

Bad science; really, bad, inept, corrupt and bungled science is the norm in the agricultural community. The reality of what they're doing is far removed from the cover story presented by the US Department of Agriculture. Thinly veiled profit motives that rape the environment commonly masquerade as science in this community. There are at least three major scientific blunders hidden in Ann Veneman's plan to "reduce hunger and improve nutrition by using advanced technology". If this community's standard for advanced technology were the norm in other industries, as for example the transportation industry, we would all be still riding in horse drawn buggies, whose wheels kept falling off.

First the process results in development of herbicide resistant weeds. When a field containing both weeds and herbicide resistant crops is sprayed with an herbicide the herbicide is supposed to kill the weeds and leave the crops. What actually happens is that the herbicide kills most of the weeds but not all. Those weeds that are not killed reproduce as herbicide resistant weeds. As this process is repeated from year to year a new class of weeds evolves that is immune to the herbicide. This process, at least outside of the agricultural scientific community, has been well understood for over a hundred years as the process of natural selection.

As the evolution of increasingly resistant weeds proceeds, the "advanced technology" of the agribusiness community prescribes ever increasing doses of herbicide. Within a short time however, the weed population has become so resistant to the herbicide that it no longer works. That is where we are now in the battle of the weeds. That is why there is such pressure to market GM food products that can stand the ever increasing use of ever more ineffective herbicides. The so called scientists who want to force their "advanced technology" on the entire world have been raping our fields and plundering our farmers for decades. This is the "infrastructure" that our Department of Agriculture wants to force on third world nations. To a very large extent, the American farming community has been severely damaged by these profit oriented practices. Now we want to export them to the "poor farmer" in other parts of the world.

Second, there is no way to prevent cross pollination of these genetically modified products with natural non-modified strains. Birds consume the seeds and scatter them where they will. GM seed will inevitably be transported into fields containing non-GM crops. Bees cross pollinate GM and non GM crops in a totally uncontrolled manner. The wind blows the pollen all over the landscape. The use of herbicides on fields that contain a mix of GM and non-GM crops preferentially kills the non-GM crop. The end result of this process is to inexorably eradicate the non-GM crop and replace it with the GM crop.

This gives the owner of the GM seed patents absolute defacto dictatorial control over the food chain; a super efficient way to establish profit margin superiority. By the exercise of patent rights, good food has been rendered impossible to grow in these herbicide polluted fields. The goons that did the destruction must now be paid dearly for the only seed that remains capable of growing in the herbicide polluted fields. Needless to point out, the same scientists that sell the GM seed have a close business connection to the scientists that sell the herbicide.

Third there have been no useful studies done to provide even a "cover story" type of assurance that the resulting GM strains are even edible let alone nutritious.

More on the health effects of soy products

This engineering of the seed causes foreign herbicide resistant proteins to be present in the crop. No long term tests to determine the effect of these foreign proteins on the human metabolism have been conducted. Tests have been conducted only to demonstrate the increased resistance of the crop to being sprayed by the herbicide. The crop looks good, it is economical to grow and provides justification to continue the use of modern herbicides. Only one minor problem; its so inedible that the GM sponsors themselves admit that even pests won't eat it.

Numerous reports have been surfacing about the bad reactions we humans are having to these foreign proteins.

Argentina, after their recent economic problems, decided to supply GM soy as a staple to both their population and their cattle. The immediate result was an incredible disaster. According to a report in the February issue of the Ecologist. "The result of this use of GM soy products was anemia, hormonal disruption, weak bones, rotten teeth and malnutrition." The GM soy animal feed also was reported to contain over "200 times the glcyphosate (Roundup herbicide) that the human GM soy products contained". Glyphosate in any amount interferes with the absorption of minerals, particularly iron and zinc.

When consumers ingest GM soy they also unknowingly ingest the Roundup herbicide used for weed control in the fields. This is according to a recent study out of Freiburg University.

The March 15, 1999 issue of The Journal of the American Cancer Society contains an article that makes the connection between Roundup (glyphosate) and non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a form of cancer.

The Ecologist, in January 2003, discussed the connection between farmers that use the Roundup herbicide and increased incidence of prostate cancer. Another California study demonstrated that pregnant women that lived within a mile of farm where Roundup was sprayed on crops experienced a significantly increased chance of losing their baby. A Chinese study reported severe gastro-intestinal disorders as well as damage to the immune system in a study they conducted with rats. Their report, released under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Science, also concluded that:

GM products cause food poisoning. GM products cause cancer GM products cause allergies and severe immune system disruption GM products are deficient in nutritional value

The literature is replete with increasing evidence that the reluctance of people to consume GM products is very well founded indeed.

The reaction of the American government in the "land of the free and the home of the brave" is interesting. It is to this we turn next.

A few examples of government bullying and deception

The European Union has passed a law that prohibits the importation of GM products into their countries for five years. This is an altogether sensible idea that has caused a furious response from America. The US is lodging a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization in an effort to force Europeans to accept this frankenfood.

The US has recently suspended plans to conduct free trade talks with Egypt. This is punishment for Egypt because they refused to join the US in a complaint about the five year ban on GM food products put in place in the European Union.

The US congress has recently passed a law that makes American help in combating the AIDS virus in Africa contingent upon Africans accepting GM contaminated food.

Despite unprecedented levels of American dictatorial coercion as well as a famine in their land Zambia, has refused to import GM food. Mozambique and Zimbabwe refused to import GM corn grain but had to accept milled corn because of a serious ongoing famine. We have produced a furious reaction in Africa by attempting to force GM food on a poor population. Nnimmo Bassey, Director of Environmental Rights Action in Nigeria, said "African nations should have the right to decide what their people are fed. It is immoral for the US to exploit the famine and the AIDS crisis in this way".

The US has regulations in place to conceal the fact of GM contaminated food in the American grocery store. The idea is to prevent Americans from being able to choose whether or not they want to eat it.

A step back to take a harder look at soy products in general

Those of you who have been following my work exposing our criminal epidemic of diabetes already have a built in protection against this wholesale food chain fraud being perpetrated by the American corporate-government complex. Ask any American about the dangers of saturated fat and he will quickly parrot "saturated fat is bad- it causes heart attacks". This widespread and totally false belief is the result of a massive marketing campaign in America to replace good beneficial fats and oils that we once had with these cheap junk oils. The idea was to greatly increase the profit margin of processed food by using worthless oils instead of beneficial healthy oils. Noteworthy among these junk oils that were successfully introduced into our food chain by this deception is soy oil. An immediate consequence of this marketing success has been the explosive increase in degenerative disease including obesity and diabetes.

At one point, a few years ago, soy oil, cottonseed oil and rape seed oil (canola) among others, were considered inedible. They were not fit even to use as animal feed let alone human. A massive marketing campaign was launched against healthy beneficial oils here in America. The result was a huge gain in acceptance for cheap worthless food products that up to then had no market. Another result was the stigmatizing and removal from the marketplace of the more expensive beneficial oils, such as coconut oil, we had always depended upon. The idea was, and is, that soy is easy to grow and, if widespread market acceptance could be manufactured, the use of soy in processed food could be made to produce immense profits.

Soybean products, even before being genetically modified, were, and remain, almost worthless as human or animal food. There are many really good studies that have repeatedly exposed the soy fraud.. Genetic modification has simply brought products already known to be bad to the point where they are rightfully regarded as not just worthless but poisonous.

Unprocessed soy whether GM or non-GM is basically a poisonous substance. Although considered a high protein food, the protein is locked up with trypsin inhibitors to the extent that the protein is not available when it is eaten. This is why diets that are high in soy content lead to malnutrition. Diets high is soy content have been associated with Parkinson's disease because of their high phytate content and their disabling of zinc absorption. Soy is associated with precocious puberty because of their elevated phytoestrogen content. The daily amount of soy milk required for a bottle fed infant contains the same amount of estrogen to be found in five birth control pills.
bFermented soy is a special case

Successful processing of soybeans to make them even marginally useful in a dietary health program requires very long fermentation times. The only healthy way to prepare soy for human consumption is by fermenting it into products like Tempeh and Miso.

Tofu is not an acceptable processing method. Long time users of Tofu have shown a significant increase in the development of Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's.

So what can we do

While we await the collapse of this crooked corporate government complex under the weight of its own bungling, deceit, ineptitude, thievery, bad science and criminal misuse of force against us, we need to survive. And, we need to routinely throw as many lawful monkey wrenches as possible into this criminal conspiracy.

First we can go to the root of the problem; money. Refuse to buy or eat any of this junk that's being touted as food. Read labels in the grocery store. Whenever you see soy oil or any soy product on the label in these processed foods simply leave it on the shelf. In time this refusal to be deceived into feeding your family worthless and dangerous food products will have an effect. This desired effect can be speeded up considerably by taking the time to tell the supermarket manager that you will not buy food containing soy in any form. Because of GM soy's great propensity to cross pollinate with non-GM soy and because of labeling fraud that conceals the presence of GM food products, you must assume that any product is contaminated with the genetically modified strain. Do not buy or consume any food product that contains soy or soy oil or indeed, any of the junk oils.

Second we can bombard our Congress with letters, phone calls and faxes from an irate constituency that is well aware of the upcoming election and our perceived need to replace unresponsive representatives. Since the rigging of elections and the explosive increase in lying, double dealing and bribery have become commonplace in our political arena, this technique has become less effective than our founding fathers once envisioned. However, it is still better than doing nothing. As the late Senator Everett Dirksen once said, "When I feel the heat, I see the light".

Third, those of you out there that have a few extra bucks in your jeans and want to do something useful might consider exhausting available legal and administrative avenues of redress through regulatory challenges. Others may form groups to share the expense and accomplish the same thing. As long as these "regulators" believe their chicanery goes unnoticed they do their dirty work. When once they start getting exposed, as individuals, in the press, in the courts and in their neighborhoods they may find it considerably more difficult to hide the truth about what they really do. You might start by publicly asking Ann Veneman exactly why she said that less pesticide is required for GM crops.

These are only some suggestions. I'm sure that the remarkable inventiveness that has characterized America throughout its history will prove helpful once again as more and more Americans come to fully realize what is being done to them, by whom and why.

Why Butter Is Better

It's no longer a secret that the margarine Americans have been spreading on their toast, and the hydrogenated fats they eat in commercial baked goods like cookies and crackers, is the chief culprit in our current plague of cancer and heart disease.22 But mainline nutrition writers continue to denigrate butter--recommending new fangled tub spreads instead.23 These may not contain hydrogenated fats but they are composed of highly processed rancid vegetable oils, soy protein isolate and a host of additives. A glitzy cookbook called Butter Busters promotes butter buds, made from maltodextrin, a carbohydrate derived from corn, along with dozens of other highly processed so-called low-fat commercial products.

Who benefits from the propaganda blitz against butter? The list is a long one and includes orthodox medicine, hospitals, the drug companies and food processors. But the chief beneficiary is the large corporate farm and the cartels that buy their products--chiefly cotton, corn and soy--America's three main crops, which are usually grown as monocultures on large farms, requiring extensive use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. All three--soy, cotton and corn--can be used to make both margarine and the new designer spreads. In order to make these products acceptable to the up-scale consumer, food processors and agribusiness see to it that they are promoted as health foods. We are fools to believe them.

What is amazing to me is how backward France is about figuring out that most of the hype that comes from America is just that: hyped up advertising to make a buck at everybody's expense, including their health.

At the same time, France resists the advances in psychology coming from the U.S. that could very well benefit French society in some respects.

It's true tha soy is very controversial. I didn't know it was that dangerous. Soy may be dangerous (and it appears like it is, specially for babies who are exclusively fed on soy milk... brrr), but I don't think butter is good either, just like all pasteurized dairy products. All in all if one can avoid both, that's still the wisest solution imo (and prefer non pasteurised cheeses or goat cheese to pasteurized stuff or cow milk). And why not try olive oil instead of butter or margarine for cooking ? It's so much tastier and better for health.

edit : I was eating a piece of "equitable chocolate" and looked at the ingredients : soy lecithin... this stuff is everywhere, one has to look carefully when one goes shopping :/

Soy is rather hard to avoid in US "health food" stores like Whole Foods and Wild Oats, and it is included in products that show no outward indication that they may contain soy. Pretty much any product that may contain oil has the possibility of containing soy oil. Some products are promoted as containing soy (and since everyone knows that soy is a health food, foods containing soy are health foods :P), but many foods that contain soy don’t advertise this fact. Avoiding soy in health food stores is similar, in my experience, to avoiding hydrogenated oils or aspartame in a standard US grocery store; it’s necessary to read all ingredient labels for everything because this stuff is lurking everywhere.

Apparently some group (Soyfoods Association of North America?) decided that in the US, April is "National Soy Foods Month" …so there you have it: anything that has an official month dedicated to it must be good!

I just learned this two days ago and I'm still shocked.
Other research have shown that drinking milk comming from organic cows protects against breast cancer, so if you like most people aren't allergic to dairy milk, there shouldn't be a problem in drinking milk which hasn't been homogenised, from what I gather.

**** Cancer "Fuel Cell":

Of those 59 hormones one is a powerful GROWTH hormone called Insulin-
like Growth Factor ONE (IGF-1). By a freak of nature it is identical
between cows and humans. Consider this hormone to be a "fuel cell" for
any cancer... (the medical world says IGF-1 is a key factor in the rapid
growth and proliferation of breast, prostate and colon cancers, and we
suspect that most likely it will be found to promote ALL cancers).

IGF-1 is a normal part of ALL milk... the newborn is SUPPOSED to grow
quickly! What makes the 50% of obese American consumers think they
need MORE growth? Consumers don't think anything about it because they
do not have a clue to the problem... nor do most of our doctors.

**** Quantity

Each bite of hard cheese has TEN TIMES whatever was in that sip of
milk... because it takes ten pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese.
Each bite of ice cream has 12 times ... and every swipe of butter 21
times whatever is contained in the fat molecules in a sip of milk.

**** Monsanto and rbGH (Posilac)

Monsanto Chemical Co., maker of fine poisons such as DDT, agent
orange, Roundup and more... spent around half a billion dollars
inventing a shot to inject into cows... to force a cow to produce MORE
milk (for an already glutted taxpayer subsidized market).

Unfortunately, they created *FIVE* errors in their Frankenstein
Posilac (rbGH) shot that direly affected all test animals... but that
important report (Richard, Odaglia & Deslex, 1989) has been hidden from
everyone under Clinton's Trade Secrets act. The Canadians read enough
of this report (before it was stolen) to reject rbGH for their country.

Monsanto's Posilac creates additional IGF-1 in milk: up to 80% more.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) insists that IGF-1 is destroyed
in the stomach. If that were true, the FDA has proven that
breast feeding cannot work. Common sense says their "finding" is
ridiculous because this growth factor DOES make the baby calf grow
(rapidly, as mother natured intended). Visit the Dairy Education Board
at to review a DAIRY study that
confirms what the FDA has lied about this for years.

**** IGF-1 increases

This study involved two groups. One group consuming 12 ounces of
milk a day and the other consuming the USDA recommended allowance of 24
ounces (three cups). This report notes that the participants consuming
12 ounces more milk per day... HAD A 10% RISE IN IGF-1 IN THEIR BLOOD
SERUM! Now, consider that PER DAY, from ALL sources, the typical
milk/dairy consumer ingests approximately 39% of daily diet from
dairy... and that 10% increase becomes the "tip of the iceberg". We
have NO idea of the non-dairy versus full-dairy difference but
considering cancer rates... it has to be significant.

**** Fat

Whole milk 49% of the calories are from fat.
"2%" milk 35% of the calories are from fat.
Cheddar cheese 74% of the calories are from fat.
Butter 100% of the calories are from fat.

Most folks suspect that butter is all fat. Most folks have no concept
of the just how much fat is in the rest of milk and dairy. Perhaps the
54% of Americans who are obese need to comprehend that milk, ice cream,
cheeses, yogurts, and all the OTHER products that use milk derivatives
(casein, whey, lactose, colostrum) are most likely a significant cause
for their weight and health problem.

**** Calcium

Calcium? Where do the COWS get calcium for their big bones? Yes...
from plants! The calcium they consume from plants has a large amount of
magnesium... necessary for the body to absorb and USE the calcium.

The calcium in cow's milk is basically useless because it has
insufficient magnesium content (those nations with the highest amount of
milk/dairy consumption also have the highest rates of osteoporosis.
Proof? How about a controlled study of 78,000 nurses over a period of
12 years?

Cows milk has three times the calcium as does human breast milk. No
matter, neither are very usable because in order to be absorbed and used
their MUST be an equal quantity of MAGNESIUM (as exists in the greens
that cows eat to get all the calcium they need for their big bones).
Milk has only enough magnesium to absorb around 11% (33mg per cup) of

Per the USDA 8 ounces (one cup) of cows milk contains:

Calcium, Ca mg 291.336
Magnesium, Mg mg 32.794

The USDA recommends 1200mg of calcium per day. The USDA recommended
three cups of milk a day only have 900mg of calcium. Some argue that
only 1/3 of the magnesium is necessary. Mother nature seems to suggest
it should be one to one. If the ratio for proper absorption were 1/3
magnesium to one calcium then no more than 300mg of that 900mg of
calcium is usable. If, in fact, it is a one to one ratio... only
98.38mg of calcium is usable.

It is not a matter of how much calcium one ingests... but how much
the do not lose.

**** Protein

Milk can be thought of as "liquid meat" because of its high protein
content which, in concert with other proteins, may actually LEACH
calcium from the body. Countries that consume high protein diets (meat,
milk and dairy) have the highest rates of osteoporosis.

**** The wholesome protein myth:

MILK: 87% of milk is water. That makes it VERY expensive water.

Broken down into its basic groups... WHOLE MILK is:

87% 3.25% 4% 1% 4.75

(note: that is 3.25% "milkfat" which includes the 87% water.)

80% of the protein in milk is casein. Casein is a powerful binder... a
polymer used to make plastics... and a glue that is better used to make
sturdy furniture or hold beer bottle labels in place. It is in
thousands of processed foods as a binder... as "something" caseinate.

Casein is a powerful allergen... a histamine that creates lots of
mucus. The only medicine in Olympic athlete Flo-Jo's body was Benedryl,
a power antihistamine she took to combat her last meal... pizza. See, and for the whole story.

**** Bacteria

Cow's milk is allowed to have feces in it. This is a major source for
bacteria. Milk is typically pasteurized more than once before it gets
to your table... each time for only 15 seconds at 162 degrees

To sanitize water one is told to boil it (212 degrees F) for several
minutes. That is a tremendous disparity, isn't it!

Keep in mind that at room temperature the number of bacteria in milk
DOUBLE around every 20 minutes. No wonder milk turns rotten very

ONE cubic centimeter (cc) of commercial cow's milk is allowed to have
up to 750,000 somatic cells (common name is "PUS") and 20,000 live
bacteria... before it is kept off the market.

That amounts to a whopping 20 million live squiggly bacteria and up to
750 MILLION pus cells per liter (bit more than a quart).

1 cup = 236.5882cc 177,441,150 pus cells ~ 4,731,600 bacteria
24 oz (3 glasses) 532,323,450 pus cells ~ 14,220,000 bacteria
(the "recommended" daily intake)

The EU and the Canadians allow for a less "tasty" 400,000,000 pus cells
per liter.

Typically these levels are lower... but they COULD reach these levels
and still get to YOUR table.

**** Cholesterol

The cholesterol content of those three glasses of milk is equal to
what one would get from 53 slices of bacon. Do you know of any doctor
who recommends that much bacon per day?

**** Kosher

Is cow's milk and dairy "Kosher"? Consider this:

"D-3 always is derived from an animal. The sunlight reaction that
converts 7-dehydrocholesterol to vitamin D-3 is a 'pure' chemical
reaction that occurs in your skin in certain cells."

"The provitamin known as 7-dehydrocholesterol is extracted and isolated
from the skins of mammals and purified." (Marian Herbert of the Vitamin
D Workshop U of C)

Vitamin D-3 can come from four different sources:

Pig skin, sheep skin, raw fish liver, and pig brains. Most of the time,
Vitamin D-3 is extracted from pig skin and sold to dairy processors.

Short answer to "is milk kosher" - probably not.

**** Other "stuff":

Fat and cholesterol. Lots of it. Per the dairy influenced USDA
"food pyramid" all milk, dairy and meats should represent no more than
8% of the diet. Statistically, by volume of sales in a nation of 281
million Americans, it works out to almost 40% of the diet for MILK AND
DAIRY.. without the meat.

The milk of each of the over 4,700 mammals on earth is formulated
specifically for that species. There are special lactoferrins and
immunoglobulins (cow specific immunizing stuff) that in humans serve as

**** Leukemia

According to Hoards Dairyman (Volume 147, number 4)... 89% of
America's dairy herds have the leukemia virus.

The protein lactalbumin, has been identified as a key factor in
diabetes (and a major reason for NOT giving cows milk to infants).

**** Crohn's Disease

Mycobacterium paratuberculosis causes a bovine disease called

Cows diagnosed with Johne's Disease have diarrhea, and heavy fecal
shedding of bacteria. This bacteria becomes cultured in milk, and is not
destroyed by pasteurization. Occasionally, the milk-borne bacteria will
begin to grow in the human host, and irritable bowel syndrome and
Crohn's results.

**** Mad Cow Disease

There may also be prions (pronounced PREons) in the milk and meat.
This is crystalline substance that acts like a virus... with an
"incubation" period of from 5 to 30 years. The end result is MAD COW

**** Homogenization

Large fat molecules cannot get through the intestinal wall into the
bloodstream. The cream no longer rises... because homogenization breaks
up those large molecules into small ones that DO get into the
bloodstream! This becomes an expressway for any fat-borne toxins (lead,
dioxin's, etc.) into your (otherwise) most protected organs.

**** Cumulative effects:

How does this impact humans who consume cow's milk and dairy? Obesity
(over 50% of Americans and rising), heart disease, cancer, allergies,
digestive problems, diabetes, asthma, desensitization to antibiotics,
behavioral problems, and the constant ingestion of dioxin's, herbicides,
pesticides (and anything else the cow eats that is not good for any
critter), that winds up getting stored in HUMAN fat... is not healthy by
any measure.

Those who resist believing the truth should understand that MOST of
the world's population CANNOT tolerate the lactose in cow's milk. Up to
95% of the black population, around 53% of the Hispanics, etc.) So
much for cow's milk being "natures perfect food" for humans! Mother
nature knows better.

Common sense question: Where was this massive "milk is a must"
before refrigeration, pasteurization and mass transportation? Back when
cows gave only 1-4 pounds a day it was quickly made into BUTTER and
cheese! Now that those same cows have been tweaked and shot-up with
Posilac to produce up to 55 or more pounds of milk per day... almost all
year long... it is suddenly (after many thousands of years) a daily
"staple". NOT!

**** Pollution

There are around 9.2 million dairy cows in the United states. Each
dairy cow ingests around 330 pounds of feed (perhaps 50 pounds) and water
(around 280 pounds or 33 gallons) per day. Allowing for the best dairy
production of 55 pounds of milk per day (over ten times what mother nature
designed the cow to produce) that means that what remains becomes "slurry".

That means around 275 pound of urine and feces per day... per cow, for
a daily total of 2.53 BILLION pounds of pollution. Per year... that amounts
to around 923 billion pounds of UNTREATED pollution entering our streams,
rivers, lakes... and drinking water systems.

Cows are hot-blooded mammals. Like all other mammals they pass gas.
Somewhat like elephants their compartmented digestive system is rather
inefficient... which leads to the creation of MORE gas. During a
Discovery Channel documentary on elephants a parting quip was that the
average adult elephant passes enough methane gas per day to run a car
about 20 miles.

Cows are not much better. The English New Scientist (page 5 -31.8.96)
mentions that cattle produce around 48 kilograms (105 pounds) of methane
each per year and that more bubbles out of the animals' manure. Dairy
cows eat more because they produce milk. With 9.2 million dairy cows
times a minimum of 100 pounds of methane gas per year... that amounts
almost a billion pounds of methane gas released into the atmosphere each
year. With around 100 million beef cattle... pigs, sheep, and other
"factory farmed" animals it should not be difficult to fathom the extent
of this problem.

This means that "Beef is a greenhouse-intensive food" and a major
cause of global warming (with dairy a significant part of the problem).

"Milk is a very strong pollutant: it is about 400 times more polluting
than untreated sewage. To put it another way, 1,000 gallons of milk has
the same polluting potential as the untreated sewage from a town of

Q: What is WHEY?

Whey results when the FAT and CASEIN are removed from milk.
In making cheese, the curds become the cheese.

Whey's main components are bovine serum albumin and lactalbumin.
There are other hormones contained in whey.

Each of those hormones and proteins acts differently and has different
rates of degradation. BOTTOM LINE... they all survive to a certain
degree... and the effects are cumulative.

I used to drink milk years ago. Mom and I now drink Almond Milk. I tried the rice milk but it had the consistancy of water, plus the carbs are quite high. Almond milk is quite good. And it comes in regular, vanilla, and chocolate flavors.

It IS amazing the craze in the US for anything soy. There was an old asian gentleman that I spoke with in Porland some years back. He told me that the only way the asians ate soy was when it was fermented, like in soy sauce. That to eat it any other way was a poison.

I also spoke with an herbal lady, who said that the soy we consume turns to estrigen in our body. And that because of a chain of events, (having to do with our recepters filling up with huge amounts of the estrigen molicule ? ) this can show a false positive for diabetes. because our bodies don't have enough recepters left for the use of sugar to turn it into energy. ? (Something like that. I'm afraid my ignorance may show here.)

Maybe someone can explain it better. Unless I have completely messed it up.



What other adult mammal drinks milk besides humans???? I have read a similar study about milk however the information on soy is new to me.

I have seen a thread on this site about the Blood type diet, and wonder if this plays a part in the findings of these studies? I realize that the milk/soy products that are processed/etc. would be bad for everyone, perhaps some people(according to blood typing) would do well with raw,organic or fermented soy/milk products.

I have been very frustrated in trying to find the "truth" concerning health and nutrition. There are so many different studies I just can't figure out which one is the best. I was a vegetarian for many years and that has left me with a load of endocrine problems. I am type O and according to the Blood type diet i should be eating loads of animal protein. Perhaps this is not the place to post this...i am just venting my frustrations a little i think. I just don't want to waste the next 15 years of my life on a diet that will land me in worse shape than i am already in.
I did stop eating dairy a long time ago and noticed a significant improvement in my sinuses/allergies. Perhaps the answer lies in quality products and blood type? Any thoughts??????
Thank you for all the information on milk Rich! I do love organic milk in my coffee and tea, but after having read what you posted, is seems like my sacred cow has suffered life threatening injuries.....
