Speculation on Laura's new book- Horns of Moses

EmeraldHope

The Living Force
Well, the suspense is killing me. All of Laura's teasings here and on facebook have my mind going nuts. So, I am sure I am not alone, and I thought it would be fun to speculate as to what could be in the material. :)

I am sure Laura will not tell, as she said she did not want to "jinx" it, but when the book comes out, we can see how "close" we were.

I started looking at pictures of horned Moses and also older horned gods, and what occurs to me is that the horns come out of the head at approximately the same place as to represent the prefrontal lobes. Since higher thought and knowledge was scorned by the church, it would make sense that they would not like this business one bit. That will be my guess for now.

Who else has ideas?

While it can be fun to speculate about something you're excited about, it may not be that productive when it comes right down to it -- it may even be a subtle ego-hook if you wait to see whether your guess about the contents ends up being correct when the book is released. Perhaps this could actually be a good opportunity for practicing non-anticipation instead?

I just thought it would be fun. I certainly have no vested interest in being right at all. Looking at the pictures and speculating has been loads of fun. You may be right though, I did not think about it from that standpoint. I was not trying to be classically productive either- just positive dissociation and playing with a concept.

I think it's important to periodically remind ourselves what the purpose of this forum is. It's not a chat room. You and bngenoh already have your word association thread to 'have fun' on. This forum serves a very specific purpose and the weight of the threads should really align with that - approaching an objective understanding of reality. fwiw.

Regarding the Horns of Moses, Laura will be blowing apart preconceived notions regarding history, religion, life and humanity in general, putting together pieces that have not been put together before. But, that's what she does. :)

And she does it so well!! I can't wait :)

Yep, I think we all feel the same way, which is probably why Daenerys started the thread, just out of excitement. :)

Yeah, and keeping in mind that it's basically the next volume of Secret History, it will cover every kind of deception and distortion, uncovering many hidden things with the feel of a detective / suspense story. :)

True. I am VERY excited. :D

Yup, me too!!

I put money aside to buy the book when it will be out! I am so exited. Read a book by Laura is always... special and enriching. Reading her articles also.

I say yesterday all her videos, in Youtube, about Knowledge, the 7 videos. She told that she will do more videos but did she did it? I remember that I look at these videos two years ago, when I didn't know Laura at all. Those videos made me looking for more information about her.

Reading Laura makes me feel my ignorance of everything but in a good sense, because when I feel ignorant I wanted to learn. Learn and understand is really good.

Since I came cross Laura´s books I kind of got hooked up to her way of writing. Indeed I have read them more than once, and certanly, I am looking
forward to this one.

Well, ya'll just keep in mind that the "Horns of Moses" title is something of a play on terms... a triple entendre (or quadruple?) and one of the meanings is something like "the horns of a dilemma". And what is a dilemma? Ask yourself what a lemma is.

Ask yourself what a lemma is.

from wikipedia

Lemma may refer to:

Lemma (mathematics), a proven statement used as a stepping-stone toward the proof of another statement
Lemma (morphology), the canonical form or citation form of a word
Lemma (psycholinguistics), an intermediate form a word about to be uttered takes during speech production
Headword, in lexicons
Lemma (logic), which is simultaneously a premise for a contention above it and a contention for premises below it
Lemma (botany), one of the specialised bracts enclosing a floret in a grass inflorescence

definition

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/on+the+horns+of+a+dilemma

To be divided between two seemingly equal options and to be undecided as to which option to choose: “When Mary was offered two equally attractive jobs, she found herself on the horns of a dilemma.”

dilemma tale or judgment tale

Typical African form of short story. Its ending is open to conjecture or is morally ambiguous, allowing the audience to comment or speculate on the correct solution to the problem posed, whether a conflict of loyalty, the need to choose a just response to a difficult situation, or the laying of blame when several parties seem equally guilty. Dilemma tales function both as instruction and entertainment and help establish social norms.

A dilemma (Greek δί-λημμα "double proposition") is a problem offering at least two solutions or possibilities, of which none are practically acceptable; one in this position has been traditionally described as being impaled on the horns of a dilemma , neither horn being comfortable.

The dilemma is sometimes used as a rhetorical device, in the form "you must accept either A, or B"; here A and B would be propositions each leading to some further conclusion. Applied in this way, it may be a fallacy, a false dichotomy.

In formal logic, the definition of a dilemma differs markedly from everyday usage. Two options are still present, but choosing between them is immaterial because they both imply the same conclusion. Symbolically expressed thus:

A vee B, A Rightarrow C, B Rightarrow C vdash C

Which can be translated informally as "one (or both) of A or B is known to be true, but they both imply C, so regardless of the truth values of A and B we can conclude C."

Horned dilemmas can present more than two choices. The number of choices of Horned dilemmas can be used in their alternative names, such as two-pronged (two-horned) or dilemma proper , or three-pronged (three-horned) or trilemma, and so on.

Constructive dilemmas--

1. (If X, then Y) and (If W, then Z).

2. X or W.

3. Therefore, Y or Z.

Destructive dilemmas--

1. (If X, then Y) and (If W, then Z).

2. Not Y or not Z.

3. Therefore, not X or not W.

Will this book be available as a kindle edition? Or E-book?

As much as I prefer real paper books - the format is very convenient.
