The keys

-Yeah, another poem, so sue me!-

My winter search has led me here
In bitter cold, a solemn cave.
In deepest discourse shadow's tear
Adorns the cradle and the grave.

"Young child, you wish to know the truth?"
The shadow's tones would taunt to tease,
"My story will outlive your youth;
The story of the stolen keys.."

"The reticence of stolen keys
From which the wooden door's eroded
Lock put rusted eyes to see
A glimpse of future's name decoded.."

His sentences would tread the dust
That lurked upon his weary tongue;
Deceptive speed, his words were just,
I knew my search would slay the young!

"I wondered where I put the keys,
I swear I never let them pass
Unnoticed but their shining tease
Would always glow too strong to last!"

Those word were tripping swiftly down
The shadow's vague and vapid breath;
I caught them like an eager hound
Impatient for the sound of death.

My words to you, your words from me -
The captives keep my ears awake -
My nonsense never rescued me,
I spouted it for soulful sake.
