It snows in Cairo , for the first time in 112 years

The plot gels... er, thickens...

Sad but also funny isn't it, they were claiming in 2000 that snowfalls are now just a thing of the past, even for Britain and Europe :cool2:

How quickly the story changes when Nature makes man eat his words. Can't help myself; I'm on a roll: "Revenge is a dish best served cold..."

The comedy in what may be this tragedy is that "they" are still spouting off about Global Warming.

I wonder how long it will be for people to begin praying for global warming, or if they will?

Yeah, that was what the wise and knowledgeable people at the Finnish Meteorological Institute claimed too a few years ago. As a consequence most of the capital city's snow plowing equipment were sold, that again caused quite a bit of problems during the last very snowy winters.

I'm afraid and most likely some will never get it and behave like in a cognitive dissonance mode.

I HOPE everyone's been canning their meat and doing EE preparing for the worst!

Cheers

We've gotten 86.5 inches so far this year. I remember snow like this when I was younger, but it's been a while...

People are so dang fickled, yes? I get caught between amusement, anger and sorrow. Global Warming. Yep, yup, sure, rrriiiggghhhttt... What's the new lie today? Remembering back in the 1970's when the Coming Ice Age was the big news of the day. All over the media, seemingly everywhere, to me anyway. I just wonder if "they" just can't stand truth damn much "they" just had to start global warming... Skillfully twisted in a way to maximize our acceptance of the lies while "they" smirk at the mass ignorance while gleefully gloating over their arrogant plans.
:curse: :cheer: :headbash:

edit: change atsrt to start.

To the snow in Egypt there seem to make some fake pictures making its round, one that the pyramids are under snow and one that the sphinx is covered in snow too:

Nonetheless it did snow for real in Egypt.

Yikes, it looks like the temperature for Winnipeg Manitoba is -30C over tonight. I'm glad I do not live there but, it was definitely snowy here in Southern Ontario because I measured and it was about 3.5 inches already, and not forgetting the -20C temp for overnight. I hope your doing well, Jonathan, it is no walk in the park out in North Michigan.

We're doing well, thanks for the good wishes. :) It's not too out of the ordinary, yet, for this region anyway. If it keeps going this way however, we may see temps holding at -20F or below in January. Usually it hovers around 0F to +5F during the cold years. Just last night it was -11F at about 8pm.

It feels to me like this is "it" - the visible beginning of the ice age - but we'll have to wait and see, and keep the driveway clear in the mean-time. :)

Chilling video: Severe snow storm hits Mideast
Published on Dec 13, 2013
RT
A severe winter storm pounded the Middle East for a third day on Friday bringing with it heavy snow and floods. In the West Bank city of Ramallah residents struggled to walk outside as mounds of snow blanketed the streets. In some parts of Israel and the West Bank government offices and schools were closed to wait out the winter weather. In Jerusalem on Thursday schools cancelled classes and buses in and out of the city were not operating. Snow blanketed palm and cypress trees. It also battered most parts of central and southern Jordan, shutting down government offices, causing power disruptions, blocking roads and stranding motorists.

Hm... And we had steady higher than usual temperatures since end of September. And snow that fell not so heavy now is almost gone... No signs of cooling at 56 degrees north.

Same here in Norway. But a lot more storms and changing temperatures than earlier years.

While doing completely unrelated searches I unsuspectingly ran into this and was flabbergasted by its prescience (sort of):

In Lancashire, Northwest England, it has been relatively mild this year, though the summer sunshine was too. Reading the most recent comments it seems most of Northern Europe is the same.

The last few winters, on average, have been bitterly cold, with snow often falling through December culminating through January (from memory, though I have discussed this with an older mind who agrees this winter has been relatively mild – thus far). Winter last year in London, i lived in my thermals.

That said, in this month of December we have caught the tail end of 2 'hurricanes', one at the beginning of the month and another 23/24th Dec. We are bang on the coast so high winds are common throughout the year but I'm not familiar with such persistent strong winds at this time.

I came across this new satellite wind map http:// earth.nullschool.net via a YT Spaceweather video, it's real time (and though slow loading for me) it's so easy to use for a beginner. Particularly as we are experiencing quite intense gales of late.

From my searches online, I understand this repeated exposure to hurricane force storms is to increase, particularly in winter. They're created out West and essentially slam Ireland, then England and then rip through Western Europe.
I expect the flagging Gulf stream will have effected this?

I'm currently watching another system out in the Atlantic, which according to the satellite, will move north and breakdown above the UK. So we should be OK.

The website 'Ice Age Now' (and his accompanying documentaries) mentioned the swells of sea water we will experience are to occur on the East coast, which has already happened this year.

I've been keeping an eye on the reactions of folk, and it seems many will look to the government to tell them which water wings to wear. The residents of flooding in Surrey ('middle class') were left to fend for themselves over Christmas. PM David Cameron's (eurgh) arrival a few days later - with press, the council, oh and rescue crews - was met with fierce criticism by those who felt Christmas was a time when mother nature took time off in her stockings for a winter break with Santa.

We're relatively blessed on this fair isle (which is probably why it was deemed such?) when it comes to weather phenomena, but it appears this is changing rapidly; mini-tornado's, odd foaming sea's, rivers breaking their banks and flooding more frequent.

I was surprised to read that 2013 is has been the quietest year on record regarding weather phenomena. It may be that the occurrences are just more bizarre in location and timing;' Snow in Egypt, flooding in Saudi Arabia, snow in summer in Australia etc... OR the weather systems are just bigger, like the 3 tornado's converging to 1 in OK this year (of course it may be the presstitutes are distorting facts).
