Situation in the Donbas seems to be heating up

* all activities/movements of all international organisations are stopped by official order of DPR - in LPR all movements and activities were already stopped.

* OSCE- several cars were burned of the OCES in Donetsk on early sunday morning, in front of the hotel where OSCE and ICRC live.

* only one checkpoint to cross the front line remains open, are all others are closed.

* increased shelling over the weekend.

fighting continues to increase

Last night cities and towns of DPR and LPR were under UAF artillery fire. The tense situation remains in Telmanovskiy district near the Donetsk airport and the village of Oktyabrsky.

During the day there is increased activity and movement of columns of armored vehicles, transport carrying personnel and supply trucks of UAF: from Slavyansk, Kramatorsk at Artiomovsk and Konstantinovka, through Pavlograd - at Krasnoarmeisk and Kurakhovo from Mariupol and Volnovakha - in the direction of Granitnoye (Telmanovo)
On the eve of the day as a result of the failed attack on the positions of DPR Army occupational forces have lost:

2 tanks
1 BMP
from 20 to 30 of personnel KIA and about 50 WIA
2 UAVs above the coal mines of Zasyadko and Zaperevalnaya.

In 00:00 Volnovakha was shelled. From the direction of Staroignatovka

UAF continued attempts to take control of the village of Novolaspa.

Around midnight Yasinovataya came under fire of "Grad" MLRS from the side of Novobakhmutovka.

Bugas and Nikolaevka were also bombarded by “Grads”
Since 00:30 Kiev district and the airport of Donetsk, as well as Oktyabrsky was shelled by cannon artillery.

From the direction of the village of Opytnoye the village of Spartak was shelled.

Dokuchaevsk was shelled with cannon artillery and mortars at 01:00 from the village of Berezovoye

In 01:15 Donetsk again was shelled by cannon artillery.

Since 01:30 UAF continued attempts to push the front line in the direction of Staroignatovka-Novolaspa: a battle with usage of artillery is going on. In Novolaspa some houses are on fire because of UAF artillery shelling.

Here is the vision of Ukraine according to Oleg Tsarev: http://fortruss.blogspot.dk/2015/08/oleg-tsarev-what-awaits-ukraine.html He makes a comparison with the way US money worked before:

[...]
After WWI, America injected into Germany about two trillion dollars at today's rate. The Germans were often forced to sell the businesses or major shares of it. Even Krupp was mostly bought up by businesses from the US. Within a short time-span, as a result of serious investment, the German economy bounced forward, unemployment was almost completely eliminated. Even until now control of many sectors remains in the American hands.

Even with Deutsche Bank, the largest shareholders are from the United States. The main German media is owned by international companies which are US-controlled. What can I say? The US made some serious money on those events.

Dividends from the profits of German companies were regularly paid all the time even during WWII. Payments were stopped only after the opening of the second front.

It's funny to watch the moaning Ukrainian politicians. They say that Ukraine is the hope of the free world but that money loaned to Ukraine is much less than loans Greece. And certainly much less than was injected into Germany in the thirties or in the Federal Republic of Germany and Japan after WWII.

Today the Ukrainian government does not understand that no one is going to give them money.

A few things that Ukraine can do very well. It is - to steal and to snitch. Poroshenko, Yatseniuk and others snitched on each other for so long and in details described what and how much each one of them stole that after these revelations only a madman will allocate money to them.

Money can come to Ukraine only after the default, after buying Ukrainian assets at bargain prices after the debt write-off and economic and political reboot. After that, money will be allocated to the American companies in Ukraine and managers appointed by the Americans in the executive branch of government. I predict drastic increase in the number of representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada and the United States in Ukrainian government. We have observed similar processes with the example of the Baltic countries.

But in any case, even if the money is allocated, it is obvious that the living standards of Ukrainians will not be improved by it.
[...]
the basis of tasks given to the Ukrainian government by its foreign curators - is that long-term plans do not matter. The main thing that the airplane called “Ukraine” must reach the target, not to fall apart in the air and not to fall in the nosedive on the approach.
[...]
The target in terms of countries is Russia. There can be no doubt that Ukraine is kept afloat by the US/EU/NATO/IMF othewise it would have gone down a long time ago. Oleg Tsarev's forecast is based on the assumption, it seems, that the US will maintain enough power, control and chaos to continue operating as it has. In my opinion that is not guaranteed.

I just found this video clip on Strelkovs blog. It is apparently from New York and shows birds or bees doing a strange formation in which a face appears. Many think the face is that of Putin. Whether it is genuine is another question. Interesting if there are other independent observations of this.

The video can be seen here: _https://vk.com/strelkov_info?z=video-57424472_171495733%2Fbd4f06fee29633f640

Donetsk under Massive Bombardment by UAF; dead and wounded
August 12th, 2015

Rusvesna - Translated by J. Arnoldski
Ukrainian occupational forces shelling Donetsk.

Around 18:00 from the direction of Pesok, UAF are massively bombarding October (Oktyabrskiy) suburb with artillery cannons. Fires are raging.

Direction: airport, Metro - firefight supported by UAF artillery. In Oktyabrskiy fires are observed.

The head of the Kubyshev district of Donetsk, Ivan Prikhodko reported to “Russian Spring” about hits on apartment houses and civilian deaths:

“Starting from 18:00 and ongoing: Timura street 19 - direct hit, Vasilchenko street 34, 35, 37 - several homes are on fire, Luzina street, house 6, apartment 15 - direct hit on the fifth floor, Timura street - hit on the outdoor kitchen followed by fire, Kremlevskiy prospect 9 - one woman injured, one killed (Galina Sklyarova), Krasnoznamennaya street 41 - man injured.” He confirmed that such information was from 19:00.

The Kiev junta stepped up artillery attacks and moved forces forward today. http://thesaker.is/news-flash-donetsk-hit-by-over-800-artillery-strikes/

The Saker is unconvinced that a UAF attack is actually imminent, and it does seem rather unlikely. When the UAF does attack, it only loses men killed or wounded and equipment, lost or destroyed.

Someone else (luke wilson) said the same recently. I provided the solution in this post. Have a look and get educated. ;)

Thanks Palinurus, I was actually referring to the tools on the Forum, when posting. If one wants to edit a post after the initial posting, then the tools are gone and one has to remember the specific way of coding the text so it appears as one wishes.

I was browsing for information on the Doomsday Clock and thought this quote from an international meeting of the atomic scientists was interesting:

“You have been brainwashed,” our Russian hosts lamented during dinner at their Moscow apartment in late April [2014]. We had asked them how they reconcile biased Russian news reports with evidence of Russian Special Operations Forces in the Crimea and eastern Ukraine. “What does Washington think it is doing by sending the CIA chief to Kiev to support those fascists?” they asked in response.

We were surprised that without exception every one of our Russian colleagues, nuclear scientists who in some cases we have known for 25 years, defended Moscow’s actions and criticized Washington and the West over Ukraine. Over after-dinner vodka, we agreed that we cannot reconcile our views of what is happening in Ukraine, so we returned to problems that require our continued attention, namely how to prevent nuclear proliferation and guard against nuclear terrorism.

Yes, the attacks on Donbass have gone way up. The UK defense minister is visiting Ukraine, so as usual, they're trying to show that they need all sorts of support to continue fighting against the "Russian agression" BS.

fort russ with an interesting article and indication how many mudded waters, full of psychopatic sharks, Putin has to navigate.

Poroshenko's Close Ties with Russian Elites - http://fortruss.blogspot.ru/2015/08/poroshenkos-close-ties-with-russian.html

An interesting phrase that come up is '
The whole war is a big imitation

From a military point of view this seems to be the case - this war is not fought as a real war, eg comparing for instance how the chechens fought the Russians, and the russians the Chechens. to say the least, in the donbas ' the gloves are not off (yet). From a strategic and political point of view this approach by Putin makes sense though.
