Mass Shootings

Long COVID. It's always Long COVID, even with fatal bullet wounds. I hope he was vaccinated, it could have been far worse.

Hey, I'm just following the playbook. Different page, same outcome. I just hope this doesn't become a daily occurrence, with each one getting overshadowed and forgotten by subsequent events...

'Sigh of Relief': Suspect in Maine Shootings Found Dead
The body of Robert R. Card, 40, was discovered in the woods near the neighboring town of Lisbon, where police found his abandoned vehicle shortly after the shooting spree on Wednesday night.

Skipping down

Several news media, citing unnamed law enforcement sources, said Card was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Card was found by a Lisbon recycling center where he used to work in the same clothes he had on during the shootings on Wednesday, according to U.S. Sen. Angus King, who initially told the Bangor Daily News that the suspect died after being told by Gov. Janet Mills.

Card’s body was found by police at 7:45 p.m., of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said at a Friday night news conference at Lewiston City Hall. Police didn’t immediately release information because they wanted to alert the families of victims. They also let Card’s family know after many helped them investigate.

Around 60 percent of mass shooters don’t make it out of the shooting alive, James Alan Fox previously told the Bangor Daily News. He is a sociology professor at Northeastern who helped compile a database of mass killings in the U.S. from 2006 to today. It usually takes less than 24 hours to catch shooters who escape the scene, Fox said previously.

The victims were 14 to 76 years old, playing cornhole and bowling when they were killed. They left behind children, spouses, siblings and friends.

“I am forever grateful to all the law enforcement officials that worked tirelessly to find the gunman,” Ralph Brewer, brother of Peyton Brewer-Ross, who was killed playing cornhole with friends at Schemengees. “Maine can breathe again [and] let the healing truly begin.”

Law enforcement officials say the body of Robert Card, the gunman who carried out a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, was found in an unlocked truck trailer, adjacent to an area police had previously searched. NBC News' Marissa Parra reports on the latest updates and what questions remain as vigils for the shooting victims are scheduled. Oct. 28, 2023

The fallout, as expected.

The preventable tragedy in Lewiston, Maine, is yet another reminder that horrific mass shootings are far too common — and a uniquely American problem. Once again, a weapon built for battle has stolen 18 people’s lives, injured 13 others, and traumatized an entire town. In mass shootings that dominate headlines, in the almost daily gun violence that haunts some of our most vulnerable communities, in the relentless toll of gun suicide, the United States suffers every day from gun violence. Other countries don’t live like this, and we don’t have to live like this either. Sensible gun laws can — and in some states do — prevent these mass shootings before they happen. But in order to get there, we cannot be led astray by scapegoating mental illness.

Support for Trump, among other politicians
As shown by the video, Card liked tweets from high-profile conservative figures such as Donald Trump Jnr., Tucker Carlson, Dinesh D'Souza. He also engaged with publications from former house speakers Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan, as per the video.

The most eye-catching tweet interaction of them all was one involving mass shooters published by Trump jr. "Given the incredible rise of trans/non-binary mass shooters in the last few years... by far the largest group committing as a percentage of population... maybe, rather than talking about guns we should be talking about lunatics pushing their gender affirming bullsh*t on our kids?" it read.

That wasn't the only time his expressed views against the trans community. "The trans movement, it turns out, is the mirror image of Christianity, and therefore its natural enemy. People who believe they're God can't stand to be reminded that they're not" read Tucker Carlson's tweet from March this year which he also liked.

The Morning Joe panel discusses the prevalence of mass shootings in the U.S., why lawmakers can vote for gun reform legislation in conservative areas and not lose their seats and how the new House Speaker, Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., said now was not the time to discuss new gun legislation.
•Information about the note left behind— paper note to a loved one saying passcode to phone, bank account. “Tone and tenor” was that of “someone who wasn’t expecting to be around” Not an explicit suicide note.

•It is believed that Robert Card likely walked the trail from the boat launch to the recycling facility. What happened before the shooting and Robert Card movements all under investigation.

“There’s a mental health component to this” but still under investigation. He was “not forcibly committed for treatment.”

•A long gun was found in Robert Card car.

•821 tips and leads were received. 197 tips via digital tip line. About dozen warrants executed and impounded.

Robert Card found Maine recycling corp. found in a trailer in the overflow parking lot. The recycling facility was cleared twice. LE went back a second time because officer spotted open door. Owner pointed out overflow lot which is a distance away that’s connected. That led to the discovery of Robert Card’s body.

Lawless Blue State Chaos California in the greater SF Bay Area.

A disturbance at one of San Francisco’s most famous churches Sunday evening led police on a chaotic chase that allegedly involved a man setting off a pipe bomb and tossing a molotov cocktail before being taken into custody in the East Bay, a city official told The Standard.

Officers responded to a report of an assault at 5:52 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Church in the North Beach neighborhood, according to the San Francisco Police Department and Supervisor Aaron Peskin, who represents the neighborhood and was briefed on the situation.

Police arrived on the scene and the suspect fled in a vehicle, leading to a pursuit, according to the department.

"Officers initiated pursuit, and the suspect threw an unknown object out of the car window at pursuing officers," officials said.

Peskin said police told him the suspect set off a pipe bomb on the 1500 block of Jones Street, a residential part of Nob Hill, and police continued to pursue the man south where he allegedly ignited a “molotov cocktail” on Eighth Street between Market and Mission.

Police advised members of the public to avoid the areas Sunday night.

The suspect fled onto the freeway and California Highway Patrol took over the chase, police said. The pursuit ended in Martinez where the man was taken into custody.

“Nobody got seriously hurt,” Peskin said, adding that he was initially told that a priest was assaulted but that does not appear to be the case.

People reported hearing loud explosions on social media Sunday evening and officers had taped off the block between Jones and Pacific Streets by the time a reporter for The Standard had arrived on scene around 7:15 p.m. An officer on the scene declined to comment. Police also taped off the area around Mission and Eighth streets.

Bobby Diaz, a guest at the BEI Hotel on Eighth Street south of Market, heard a blast as he was on the phone.

"I was looking out the window,” he said. “I heard what sounded like a boom. It kind of sounded like someone crashed into the hotel.”

Diaz said police responded almost immediately, with approximately 10 squad cars responding. "It was an impactful boom,” he said. "It was very loud.”

Peskin said the police department’s Night Investigations Unit would be updating him throughout the evening.

Police asked anyone with information to contact the department by calling (415) 575-4444 or texting a tip to TIP411 and beginning the message with "SFPD."

Additionally, members of the public who come across any suspicious devices are advised to immediately call 911 and to avoid approaching or moving the object.

And the sanitized version.

Ca. beat met to it. More info on the Colorado would-be shooter here:

He must have somehow snapped out of his trance state. Too bad he couldn't turn himself in first, but then he'd probably just have been "disappeared." At least it ended with him this time. I wonder if his manifesto will be found, or if it's being written as I type?

So sick of this crap. But I refuse to live my life in fear because of this world-wide "Operation Gladio."

This is a good article by Joachim Hagopian about the Maine shooter. I find it interesting that even he is into astrology these days...

Nashville authorities are "aware" of the purported leak of portions of Covenant School shooter Audrey Elizabeth Hale's highly anticipated "manifesto" found in the car where the killer gunned down three 9-year-olds and three adults in March.

In what appear to be crime scene photographs of the killer's handwritten notes, the unverified documents would explain why police were quick to label the massacre "calculated and planned."

"We are aware of that assertion," a city police spokeswoman told Fox News Digital Monday. However, she said it was too early to confirm the documents' authenticity and that authorities were investigating.

Nashville police have said they recovered documents in the 28-year-old Hale's car after police killed the suspect on the school's second floor. However, they have been fighting in court not to release the manifesto, and so has a group of parents from the school.

NASHVILLE KILLER AUDREY HALE SLEPT WITH JOURNALS ON SCHOOL SHOOTINGS UNDER BED, COURT DOCS REVEAL

More information is expected to come out if he’s successful in court.

"What was requested would include more than just these three pages," he told Fox News Digital.

The lawsuit has been slowed for months. Currently, an appeals court is expected to rule on whether Hale’s parents and the school have a right to intervene. There is no clear timeline for a decision on releasing the full manifesto.

"It could go on," Pierce said. "This could be years before we get it all resolved."

Hale, who identified as a male named AIden, but who police describe as a transgender woman, kept more than 20 journals, court documents revealed earlier this year, and the three purportedly leaked pages would only represent a snippet of the killer's writings.

In addition to the manifesto, Hale made hand-drawn maps and diagrams of the school, with possible entry points and illustrations showing a shooter wearing the same outfit worn during the murders, police said.

Police previously released surveillance video showing the heroics of responding officers as they stormed the building and neutralized Hale in front of a second-story window, where the killer was actively shooting from.

According to its website, the Covenant School opened in 2001 as part of the Covenant Presbyterian Church and served children from Pre-K through sixth grade.

The child victims included the pastor's daughter, Hallie Scruggs, as well as Evelyn Dieckhaus and William Kinney. Police identified the adults as 60-year-old Head of School Katherine Koonce, Cynthia Peak, 61, and Mike Hill, 61.

AUDREY HALE POLICE BODYCAMS RELEASED

Court records suggested Hale had no criminal history in Metro Nashville or Davidson County.

Investigators served a search warrant at Hale's home about three miles away from the church and school.

The killer slept with journals on other school shootings under her bed in her parents' house. Police seized the journals and a trove of documents and electronic devices, court filings reveal. Hale also left behind a suicide note on a desk under one of several laptops police recovered near a list of passwords in the bedroom.

Hale was an artist who attended the Nossi College of Art and Design.

The killer was also seeing a doctor due to an emotional disorder and had legally purchased the seven guns from five stores leading up to the attack, police said.

Hale's parents were unaware that the school shooter owned any guns after purportedly selling the single one they knew about, Chief John Drake said in March.

"They were under the impression that when she sold the weapon, she did not own anymore," he said. "As it turned out she was hiding several weapons inside the house."

However, Hale arrived around 10:15 a.m. on Monday with three guns, blasted out a side door and went on a rampage inside.

When Hale burst in, the first victim, Hill, sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the process. According to city officials, Koonce heard the first shots while on a Zoom call, hung up and confronted the attacker. Police found her dead in the hallway outside her office.

Drake said investigators had not immediately determined a motive but that they believed Hale, a former student, had targeted the school and its affiliated church.

Before 10:30 a.m., responding officers had fatally shot the killer on the second floor.

Update (1450ET): The Nashville mayor's office says they're working with Metro legal to get to the bottom of how the transgender school shooter's manifesto was leaked to conservative commentator Stephen Crowder (scroll down to watch).
The Nashville mayor's office has confirmed they are working with Metro legal to determine how those images were released to anyone.
We are working to update this story. https://t.co/wRm7JjgWcs
— NewsChannel 5 (@NC5) November 6, 2023
As the Epoch Times notes:
Metro Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said in a statement on Nov. 6 that he had directed the city’s legal director to initiate an investigation into the leak, but he didn't address the veracity of the documents. Other agencies were unable to verify the authenticity of the documents when asked to do so by The Epoch Times on Nov. 6.

I have directed Wally Dietz, Metro’s law director, to initiate an investigation into how these images could have been released,"

Mr. O'Connell said in the statement. "That investigation may involve local, state, and federal authorities. I am deeply concerned with the safety, security, and well-being of the Covenant families and all Nashvillians who are grieving."

A spokeswoman for MNPD said there was “no information” they could provide at this time when reached via phone on Nov. 6. So far, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that they can offer no confirmation of the documents, according to a spokesman of the agency.

Earlier Monday Alex Jones claimed that the Biden DOJ suppressed the document.

Freakouts continue. Now it's 'misleading.'
Multiple sources have told me that the selective leak of three pages of the #CovenantSchool shooting “manifesto” is EXTREMELY misleading. People who have read the whole thing say “there’s something in there for everybody.” Another, “She hated everybody.”

The manifesto, which one official described as "astronomically dangerous," was originally to set for release in May, until the Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reversed course, and said it would be released 'soon.'

One week after the stonewalling began, the National Police Association (NPA) joined the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in suing for all records related to the March 27 shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.

“We have asked for any manifestos, emails, and any communications related to the case,” Betsy Brantner Smith, spokesperson for the National Police Association, told The Epoch Times.
Tennessee resident Clata Renee Brewer working with the NPA, filed the lawsuit on May 5. Theirs is at least the second lawsuit filed over the shooting.

Prayers 🙏 for Dublin, Ireland

A major security incident left several people, including at least three children, with injuries in Dublin’s north inner city. A person of interest has been identified and a large knife has been seized at the scene on Parnell Square East. Gardaí have sealed off the scene.

The Irish Times understands at least three children have suffered suspected stab wounds, though some sources said that number may rise as more information is confirmed. The chief suspect for the knife attack has been detained and had sustained wounds believed to be self-inflicted.

Early indications suggest a man tried to attack a number of young people, including children, and that passers-by intervened. However, children, in addition to a passer-by and a man restrained at the scene have been hospitalised with injuries, including stab injuries.
  • The motive for the attack, which occurred close to a school on the street, has not been established, though gardaí said they are following a definite line of inquiry. The area has been sealed off as a crime scene and gardaí and paramedics quickly flooded in the street when the alarm was raised.
  • Garda Headquarters said the “serious public order incident” occurred just after 1.30pm and that five injured people had been taken to hospitals in the Dublin region. “The casualties include an adult male, an adult female and three young children,” it said. “One child, a girl, has sustained serious injuries, the other two children are being treated for less serious injuries.
  • Gardaí have been in contact with the parents of all three injured children. “The adult female is being treated for serious injuries and the adult male for less serious injuries,” the statement said.
  • “An Garda Síochána is in contact with parents of all three injured children. The adult female is being treated for serious injuries and the adult male for less serious injuries.”
  • The incident took place outside Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire on Parnell Square East as children were coming out of the school, which caters to primary-age children.
  • One witness reported that a man was seen attacking a group of young people with a knife. The eyewitness to the incident reported that several individuals intervened and disarmed the man. Several eyewitnesses saw a large knife being taken from the suspected assailant and thrown into grass under trees on the opposite side of the road outside the Rotunda Hospital.
  • Garda sources said the incident was being treated as a major security event, involving serious injury. A wide area on Parnell Square East has been declared a crime scene.

And here’s the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar:

“We are all shocked by the incident which has taken place in Parnell Square. A number of people have been injured, some of them children. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to them and their families.

“I have been in contact with the Minister for Justice who is keeping me updated. The facts in this matter are still emerging. The emergency services responded very quickly and were on site within minutes. I thank them for that. Gardaí have detained a suspect and are following a definite line of inquiry.”

15:32
Local politicians have begun to respond to the news of the incident, including Paschal Donohoe, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.

“I am aware of an extremely serious incident that has taken place at Parnell Square in my constituency of Dublin Central,” he said.

“My thought and prayers are with the victims of this very serious incident, and their families. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Store Street police station.”

15:24
The Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, has issued a statement on the incident:

“I am deeply shocked by the appalling attack on three innocent children and a woman in Dublin today.

“All our thoughts are with those injured, especially with the children, their parents and families, during this extremely difficult period.

“I have been briefed by the Garda Commissioner and will remain in close contact with him and senior Gardaí.

“It is my understanding that Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry and are not looking for any other person at this time.

“This attack has shocked us all, and I have no doubt that the person responsible will be brought to justice.

“However, my thoughts now are with the innocent children and the woman who have been attacked, their families, and those who are caring for them at this time.”
