The core failure of Democracy as practised in the US is that the process does not embrace a feedback mechanism. Control systems work effectively by responding to feedback signals. The body politic in this country lives in the world of Subjectivity, where opinion counts for more than logical analysis and coherent thinking. This results in little accountability.
What real democracy has voting machines which have no accountability mechanism? (Diebold) What global democracy meekly ignores a failure of the election process? (US). When politicians are held to account thee will be change. Sadly it is at the grass roots level where we find Integrity. It is at the grass roots level where we find community and Trust. When we give people a sense of Higher Purpose and a guide to their Right Action so our society and future politicians will begin to change.
We may speak a good game, but at core US democracy is replete with obfuscation, arrogance and blind faith. We must open our eyes through logical and unfettred Awareness to the real challenges that are before us.
The Signs-of-the-times can Enlighten us but we must have the Courage and Clarity to know the Choices before us.
