It's been two days since we finally had rain on the French Riviera in France accompanied by thunderstorms days and nights ...
Temperatures are low in the morning but rise to 16 ° in the day ...
Closed windows, without heating, it is 18 ° in the apartment ...

Snow started at about 670.56 Meters (2200 Feet). With accumulations heavier in the mountains.

Still have yet to light the firebox. Making the best of cold adaption. :D

Cloudy skies prevail here in Split, for the last week or so, with some intermittent raining and little Boorah. But the weekend could be much more colder if according to Severe Weather Europe:

A new cold wave towards the Balkan peninsula this weekend

A new cold push from the Arctic is foreseen this coming weekend as the pattern changes again. A strengthening upper level ridge over the N Atlantic will advect warm airmass into western Europe while to the east of the ridge, a new rather deep cold wave will be moving across eastern Europe and bring colder airmass into central Europe first, then continue into Balkan peninsula and Mediterranean. A few days of colder than average weather is likely before ridge from the western Europe moves further east and strengthens into an omega blocking pattern next week.

P.S. There are some very good photos in photo contest section:

J'ai pu voir le mont VENCE tout enneigé ce matin... Il faisait 6° dehors, mais il n'a pas neigé à Cagnes sur Mer où j'habite...
Voici un lien Sott France pour vous montrer ce qui se passe sur la Côte d'Azur en France...

I could see Mount VENCE all snow this morning ... It was 6 ° outside, but it did not snow in Cagnes sur Mer where I live ...
Here is a link Sott France to show you what is happening on the French Riviera in France ...

Woke up to 44 degrees F with a wind chill of 38 degrees F in SE Florida this morning. We are not used to this kind of weather and boy does it seem cold! I know it is not as cold as a lot of other parts in the world but it is cold for SE Florida weather!

Here in Northern Italy for the last couple of weeks it's cold as hell, which is a little unusual for this period of the year, i remember crystal clear that for years the months of November and December weren't so cold as this year, on the 1st of December we even had the first snow which is pretty unusual since the last year we had only 2 DAYS of snow during the whole winter, and it seems that today and tomorrow will snow again according to local weather forecasts, so it seems this winter will be different than the previous ones, we'll see...

Getting an appropriate forecast has been troublesome. I live in Northern Spain (Aragon) and there were days when I went out and my car thermometer said it was minus 9 degrees C. Everybody's thermometer readings said that it was -9 C as well. Yet all forecasts and online readings said -1 C or 0 C. Is this on purpose?

Last night I thought I heard the strongest winds ever. I think it was like a hurricane category 1 with winds up to 150km/hour (95 mph). This site in Spanish confirms it:

_https://noticias.eltiempo.es/ciclogenesis-explosiva-operacion-retorno-rachas-120-km-h-fuertes-lluvias/

They are calling it "explosive cyclogenesis" AKA weather bomb, meteorological bomb, explosive development, or bombogenesis.

I knew it was going to be windy, but not that windy. The mainstream forecasts predicted winds up to 120-140 km/hour. Nearly a hurricane, but not quite.

I guess we must rely on our power of observation as a means of preparation to what we might encounter out there.

On the Côte d'Azur in France, it rains slowly since yesterday all day and all night and this morning, it starts again, there is a lot of wind but it is very soft ...
The road along the beach has been closed to traffic because the storm is also announced in the Mediterranean.

Today was a nice 25 degrees Celsius on the Mid-north coast of New South Wales Australia, with blue skies and forecast to be the same for the next few days.

In the Netherlands all traffic (roads, rails, air) virtually came to a complete halt due to heavy snowfall yesterday and today as well:

That sounds like they are describing a war! A war in 4D? :/

Yeah. We cannot rely too much on those weather predictions, we must be ready for everything. Be careful everybody.

In Northern Europe/Southern Scandinavia/Denmark the highest temperature of 2017 was 26.8 degrees Celsius which is 0.5 less than the previous low record set in 1962, thus making it the lowest max temperature since records began in 1874 _http://www.dmi.dk/nyheder/arkiv/nyheder-2017/december/2017-saetter-danmarks-kedeligste-vejrrekord/ The 26.8 was reached at the end of May, which is technically Spring. Overall the years has also not been cold and the yearly average will be around the average compared to the previous ten years.
Right now it is 9 degrees which will only drop slightly over the next 24 hours.

In Greenland, the present precipitation accumulation approaches the average increase of ice during the cold period:

These last few days in Sydney have been very hot in the high 30's C, today was unbearable with all the Christmas shoppers out and about. in the middle of the month in the Northern Rivers NSW, it was a lovely 24 -27 C, but they are now having the 30's heat.

Oh for some rain, especially on my garden.
