What's the weather where you are?

Here in Middle Tennessee, it's warm. Too warm for early May. High of 83 today, 89 for Monday and Tuesday. A cool down to 70's for the remainder of the week. I refuse to put on the air-conditioning though. :) Someone said to me today: What happened to spring? If it's this hot now what will June and July be like?

Storms here in the UK again. Not as heavy as before, but storms.

Strange thing is that it's not really covered in the media. I don't have TV, so don't know if they report about it there, but there is nothing really online, no warnings, nothing.

M.T.

In the past week we have had sun, rain and strong winds here in Wales. I read about storms in England on SOTT, and northern parts of Wales if I remember, but quite in the south. Except for the winds.

But yes, strange not to see or read anything about storms in the news though, like you, I don't have a TV.

Buckets of rain here in S. Central Wisconsin, and more on the way. Rain gauge has over 3" of rain since about noon, and another soaker just started, with the main event (front that extends all the way down thru TX) to arrive within a couple of hours. Rivers and ponding in our backyard is unprecedented!; new sump pump is taking care of basement so far...

Where's my life jacket? :scared:

Belgrade, Serbia. Sheets of rain and strong wind. I came to the town yesterday and it was raining, it is still raining for more than 24 hours in continuation. I never saw that rain can fall for so long. Average temperature is much lower than the previous years.

Same here in Macedonia. Sheets of rain. Vegetation is like never before. I never seen the grass so green.
Today - snow on mountains, very cold everywhere and a lot of wind and rain. Weather is very unstable, It can change from clear sky to heavy storm in just a minutes. Also one part in Macedonia was under heavy hail yesterday. Road was full of ice, like in the middle of the winter.

From the beginning of the month in Belgrade fell 205 liters of rain per square meter, which is a record for May, for Tanjug said meteorologist Nedeljko Todorovic.

"Average for May is 70 liters per square meter. Previous record was 175 liters per square meter, which in Belgrade happened back in 1897," said Todorovic. He says that the next days will be more rainfall, so the figure of 205 liters will be much higher.

This bad weather could continue all through the weekend and here is a NASA photo of cloud system above Slavonia, Bosnia and Central Serbia:

This flood reminds me of the Millennium Flood in Poland: _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1997_Central_European_flood

Of course, journalist are exaggerating as usual. Also politician loves such situation in Serbia, because they can show that they are actually working something (not to mention some nice self promotion). Its not THAT bad. I'm not aware that even there is river dam in Obrenovac :) It is raining much less this evening, and it will probably stop in the morning for good. I can see it in how the clouds, sky and the light on the ground looked today. But, it is a LOT of water.

There is also one interesting news from Serbia on weather. Tornado destroys a village. Very unusual in this part of the world.

CRNA TRAVA -- A strong storm described as "tornado-like" on Wednesday hit the village of Mlačište near the municipality of Crna Trava in southern Serbia.

It heavily damaged some 20 homes and other facilities and ripped large beech trees from their roots, the locals reported.
Crna Trava Emergency Situations Sector chief Mile Mladenović told Beta that the storm affected a very small area, completely destroying one house, and blowing off roofs from 20 others - and "covering the structures in broken tree trunks."

According to reports, the area that the storm affected was 500 meters wide and 2 kilometers long.

"Nobody knows what happened during those several minutes. People were in a terrible panic. Some say darkness descended and they heard a dull rumbling sound, others said they saw a vortex that looked like a tornado. This is truly a mystery to all of us," Mladenović said.

Once this was over, a hailstorm hit the village, followed by snowfall.

"There is 20 centimeters of snow now in Mlačiste and Bainci (villages)," the news agency quoted Mladenović as saying.

Elsewhere in Serbia and the region, a massive cloud system has caused record rainfall and flooding that killed five people so far, cut off traffic to several towns, and forced the authorities to evacuate more than 600 people from their homes, while some 100,000 households were left without electricity.
To deal with the situation, the Serbian government will on Thursday declare a state of emergency in the entire territory of the country.

It's snowing here in Illinois (west suburbs).

How often does that happen where you are at this time of year?

15 years of living here, i do not recall snow in May. Usually it's pretty damn hot by now. The news say it has snowed after May 16 only 7 times since 1884, with latest snow on June 2nd.

Crazy weather: Snow in Illinois and very wet weather in Serbia and Macedonia. Take care!

The weather here in Southern Bavaria is quite normal for this season. There was rain and it was little bit cold during this week - just normal Ice Saints weather. Now it is time to bring the plants out, which are sensitive to low temperatures. The garden plants are growing and booming. They like the moist moist weather.
