Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

all of the alarming "40 planes destroyed" 'reports' were coming from the Ukrainians.
Moon of Alabama reports:
On Sunday morning a large scale operation by the Ukrainian secret service managed to attack multiple strategic airfields throughout Russia. Ukrainian sources claimed attacks on five airfields and the destruction of more than 40 strategic bombers.

Current damage assessment confirms attacks on two airfields and the destruction or damaging of up to 10 bombers.

The attack allegedly used 120 remotely controlled drones launched from civil trucks positioned near those airfields. Ukrainian sources claim that the operation took 18 month to prepare. It seems that the Russian mobile telephone network was used to remotely control the drones. It will be thereby relatively easy to prevent another attack of this kind by blocking the relevant traffic through these channels.

While the attack is of high propaganda value it will have no favorable impact on the Ukrainian position on the battle field. It will rather entice the Russian forces to hit harder, mostly likely by long range attacks against Ukrainian decision centers.
And the Russians did hit back hard:

Russian military strikes Ukrainian drone launch site

Moscow has successfully hit a Ukrainian long-range drone launch site in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkov Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday. It also published a video of the strike.

The strike destroyed all of the launch pads, along with more than 30 long-range kamikaze drones and eight military vehicles, it added.

A short video shows a powerful blast rocking an area near the airfield where some installations were located. According to the ministry, a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile system was used in the strike.

The news came amid reports of drone strikes across Russia. Several military airfields located in five Russian regions were targeted in attacks on Sunday, according to the Defense Ministry. Ukrainian media claimed that the strikes were part of a major operation called Spiderweb, which had been prepared for more than a year and a half.

According to the Russian military, three out of five attacks were successfully repelled and resulted in no damage, while two resulted in aircraft being set on fire – although the fires were promptly extinguished. No one was injured in the attacks.

Earlier in the day, the first drone attack was reported in Irkutsk Region in Siberia, where unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeted a military base. The strike resulted in no casualties or major material damage, according to the authorities.

This comes less than a day after two bridges collapsed in Russian regions bordering Ukraine in what the authorities described as deliberate acts of sabotage. One of the collapses derailed a passenger train, killing seven and injuring 71 others. The Investigative Committee said in a statement on Sunday that the bridges were blown up in both cases. Russian Senator Andrey Klishas blamed Kiev for both incidents.

The Ukrainian proposal also calls for the prisoner exchange process to continue according to an “all-for-all principle.” Kiev also insists on Russia returning displaced Ukrainian children, according to the leaked document. Moscow has repeatedly said that some Ukrainian children were evacuated from the combat zone for safety reasons, stressing that their parents or legal guardians have no obstacles whatsoever in contacting or retrieving them.

Kiev also reportedly suggests that “some sanctions may be lifted on Russia,” but only gradually and with snapback provisions if agreements are violated. It also insists that frozen Russian assets should remain unavailable or be used for the reconstruction of Ukraine until “reparations are paid.”

since 2014 while designating the current contact line as “the starting point for negotiations,” according to the leaked document.

Well, another round of negotiations has ended. Negotiations are supposed to be about peace, but it is obvious that they are talking about anything but peace.

Statement by the head of the Russian delegation on the results of negotiations with Ukraine.

The main thing from the words of Medinsky.

► We have resolved several practical issues, we are unilaterally transferring 6,000 frozen bodies of Ukrainian officers.

► I do not know if there are bodies of our officers on their side, we will accept them.

► All seriously wounded and seriously ill people will be exchanged according to the "all for all" formula, and young soldiers will also be exchanged according to this form, with a ceiling of at least a thousand.

► Exchanges will take place regularly, in a working order.

► We have specifically proposed a cease-fire in certain sectors of the front, everything will be worked out by the military.

► The cease-fire is being held so that commanders can pick up the corpses of soldiers.

According to the real specialization of the Kiev leader, ukrops was not without its show.
Medinsky: "Don't make a show for childless European old ladies"
02.06.2025-17: 24

The head of the Russian delegation Medinsky called" a show for European old ladies " Ukrainian appeal at the talks in Istanbul to return more than a hundred children taken to Russia, reports The Economist journalist Oliver Carroll, citing a source.

"Don't put on a show for compassionate European old ladies who don't have children of their own," Medinsky said.

Ну вот и еще один раунд переговоров завершился. Переговоры вроде бы должны быть о мире, но очевидно, что там говорят о чем угодно, только не о мире.
По настоящей специализации киевского лидера, укропы не обошлись без представления.

It's a bit worse than an interesting curiosity. Ukraine has launched a major, multi-site drone attack that appears to have knocked out a big portion, and possibly the largest portion, of Russia's strategic bomber fleet.

Here's a thread with video footage, presumably sourced from Russian Telegram channels, and which was partly filmed and published by the operatives themselves, and partly by eyewitnesses:

Gotta say, the way they did it was ingenious. 21st century guerilla warfare!

Of course, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. This will show, for example, Iran-aligned militia in the M.E. how to cheaply and effectively knock out all US bombers parked there.
when i watched this video and others the first thing i noticed was the FAILSAFE logo on the videos - I immediately saw the the word
FALSE !
and theres SPIE in operation SPIDER WEB !

quite a good indicator imo !

Thank you. This is really something to be proud of, given that TASS is not just a media outlet, but the largest or one of the few largest news agencies in Russia, and the leadership of TASS is appointed by the Russian government. In particular, the order appointing to the position of head of the editorial office, whom deputy my daughter is, signed by Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Russian Government. I think it's clear who appoints the General director of TASS, you don't even need to point fingers.
To put it simply, my daughter was appointed to the position by the General director of TASS, who was appointed to his position by Putin. So everything is serious here, but even in these difficult conditions of Kremlin trolls, my clever and diligent girl managed to prove herself.

However, back to the topic.

Vutchich will not stop selling ammunition to Ukraine. He personally is involved in that. If you want to know what Vutchic mean, just assume totally opposite of what he says. So, he will continue to sell ammunition in even large quantities to Ukraine. BTW, this is the third or fourth time from 2021. that he promises that.

Although drones are the future for now, missiles with greater destructive and penetrative capacity are still needed to destroy certain targets. To be effective, these often require close proximity from bombers or fighters. These will continue to have their place until certain "heavy" attack drones with similar characteristics can replace them. Sixth-generation fighters are partly that, and of course, the problem of ground vulnerability and the need for bombers that can carry a large amount of material at once are not resolved unless strategies are changed. All of the above raises doubts about how Clause 12, Point C of the START nuclear non-proliferation treaty will be addressed from now on. Although Putin suspended it, it seems that both parties are still complying with it for security reasons, and they are keeping nuclear-capable bombers outdoors at the bases where they are located.

Please check your sources before posting. The screenshot that followed the above intro of yours comes from START-1 Treaty of 1997, not from the NEW START (START III in Russian) Treaty of 2010 which only limits the number of deployed carriers and warheads. There is nothing about anything having to be on display in it, including in other documents accompanying it.

Full NEW START treaty text PDF here, links to the treaty, protocol and annexes here. It's not that difficult to find it and verify.

There is enough of disinformation circulating, predominantly planted for nefarious reasons with ignorant crowd spreading it for a dopamine hit, do we really have to deal with it here, too?

ADDED: Even the 1997 Treaty has an explanation for used terms and for Article XII, point (c) it reads:

Subparagraph (c) of paragraph 1 addresses cooperative measures for heavy bombers. Upon appropriate request, each Party is required to display in the open all heavy bombers and former heavy bombers located within one air base specified by the requesting Party, except those heavy bombers and former heavy bombers that are not readily movable due to maintenance or operations. The heavy bombers and former heavy bombers will be displayed by removing the entire airplane from its fixed structure, if any, and locating the airplane within the air base. Those heavy bombers and former heavy bombers at the air base specified by the requesting Party that are not readily movable due to maintenance or operations will be specified by the requested Party in a notification provided in accordance with paragraph 2 of Section V of the Notification Protocol. Such a notification will be provided no later than 12 hours after the request for display has been made.

Today, for some reason, quite obvious news has come up.

To begin with, our wonderful Iron Dimon reassured us with a very obvious thing. Thank you to him, otherwise we were already right out of concern here, will it be or not?
RIA News. MEDVEDEV APPEALED TO "ALL THOSE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING AND WAITING FOR RETRIBUTION," AND ASSURED THAT " RETRIBUTION IS INEVITABLE."

Some Americans say quite obvious things. Who else at the moment doubts that from the line of contact to the Russian rear, all ukrops intelligence and communications are provided by American capabilities? I personally am more interested in when and how this hypocrisy will end, when Trump wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and America is fighting in full force with weapons, specialists, and exclusive technical capabilities that none of their allies have, and, by the way, not only in Ukraine.
The United States recognized the assistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the attack on Russian strategic bombers
On the night of June 1, 2025, five Russian military airfields where strategic bombers are based were subjected to a massive attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The incident, codenamed "The Web," caused a wide response, with American political commentators Steve Bannon and Jack Posobiec, known for their closeness to Donald Trump, saying that an operation of this magnitude would not have been possible without the direct involvement of the United States. They spoke about this on the air of the popular War Room podcast, emphasizing the role of American intelligence and technology in coordinating strikes.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack affected the airfields "Belaya" in the Irkutsk region, "Diaghilev" in the Ryazan region, "Olenya" in the Murmansk region," Ivanovo " in the Ivanovo region and the object in the Amur region. Russian authorities reported that several aircraft, including Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, were damaged as a result of fires.
Bannon, a former White House chief strategist under the Trump administration, and Posobiec, a prominent conservative activist, emphasized in their discussion that such an operation required complex coordination, including satellite intelligence and high-tech guidance systems that, in their opinion, are exclusively at the disposal of the United States. Posobets stressed that the Ukrainian forces do not have sufficient technical capabilities to independently conduct an attack of this scale, and the American intelligence services, according to him, are "deeply integrated" into the structures of the SBU. Bannon added that the Trump administration's lack of prior notification of the attack, if it took place, is a "geopolitical insult" and requires immediate condemnation from Washington.

According to Reuters, Operation Web was prepared for more than a year and a half under the personal control of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk. The drones were secretly delivered to the territory of Russia and launched from trucks located near airfields. According to The Guardian, 117 FPV drones operated by operators located in three time zones of Russia were used for the attack. Interestingly, according to Zelensky, the" office " for coordinating the operation was located next to the regional directorate of the FSB of Russia.

The British are less and less shy than other Europeans, and it has long been obvious that they want to fight. More precisely, they want Russia to fight and will weaken.
Great Britain officially announced preparations for war
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the country's transition to "war readiness" mode, which will become a priority for the armed forces. In a speech broadcast by Sky News on June 2, 2025, he stressed that in the face of threats from states with advanced armies, the only way to deter is to demonstrate force to preserve peace. The new military doctrine, according to Starmer, includes three key areas: constant combat readiness of the army, strengthening cooperation with NATO and accelerated modernization of weapons through the construction of factories, the development of long-range weapons and the expansion of the nuclear program. The statement came amid global tensions, including the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and drew a broad response from the international community.

Starmer indicated that the first priority will be the transfer of the armed forces to a state of full combat readiness, which implies reforming the structure of the army and increasing its efficiency. According to The Guardian, the UK plans to increase military spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2030, which meets the requirements of NATO. The second direction will be to strengthen collective defense within the alliance, excluding unilateral actions. According to Reuters, London has already sent additional forces to Eastern Europe, where NATO is increasing its presence amid Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. The third direction — technological modernization-provides for the construction of six new military factories, the production of long-range missiles, such as Storm Shadow, and the development of a nuclear arsenal. According to the BBC, the nuclear forces modernization program includes upgrading Vanguard-class submarines equipped with Trident missiles.

Quite an obvious assignment in the spirit of Von der Leyen, Callas, Merz, Macron, etc. I just wonder if anyone really cares so much about who will preside over the UN General Assembly. If they'd taken a broom out of the pantry or something, it would probably have been more useful.
Annalena Burbok elected head of the UN General Assembly
Former German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock was elected President of the UN General Assembly for the 2025-2026 session on June 2, 2025. According to the German newspaper Bild, her candidacy was supported by 167 out of 193 member countries of the organization, which ensured her a landslide victory. Burbok, who was the only candidate, will become the fifth woman in history to head this body, and the first representative of Germany in this post. Her election, seen as a formality after her nomination in March, underscores Berlin's ambition to strengthen its influence in international politics, despite criticism and controversy surrounding her appointment.

The vote, which took place at the UN headquarters in New York, ended on the same day that Russia and Ukraine held talks in Istanbul, agreeing to exchange prisoners and bodies of the dead. Burbok, speaking after her election, promised to be an "honest broker" and "unifier" for all 193 member states. She stressed that her priorities include modernizing the UN, combating the climate crisis, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting gender equality.

The candidacy of Berbok, put forward by the German government in March 2025, has caused a mixed reaction. Initially, an experienced diplomat Helga Schmid, a former OSCE Secretary General, was considered for the post, which caused discontent in the German Foreign Ministry.

After the terrorist attack of three explosions on the Moscow Railway facilities, especially the Russian passenger train with more than 100 civilians and the new attempted attack on the Crimean bridge, it is clear that Ukraine and its partners" do not want peace, even though Trump wanted to end the war in 24 hours and the whole event was staged for that purpose, it only seems to have made things worse. Moscow did not renounce the objectives of its special military operation, on the contrary, it has further reaffirmed the danger coming from Ukraine and the efficient build-up of its military arsenal.
‘It is clear that the terrorists, acting on orders from the Kiev regime, planned everything with the utmost precision so that hundreds of civilians would fall victim to their attacks,’ the public security agency reports.

The first comment by a Moscow official after the nuclear bomber attacks, Medvedev:
"To everyone who is worried and waiting for retribution.
It's right to worry, that's what normal people do. Retribution is inevitable.
But keep in mind, our Army is pushing forward and will continue to advance.
Everything that needs to be blown up will be blown up, and those who must be eliminated will be.
The Istanbul talks are not for striking a compromise peace on someone else's delusional terms but for ensuring our swift victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi regime.
That's what the Russian Memorandum published yesterday is about.

@Megatron_ron

Ukraine claims another attack on the Kerch bridge. The SBU said that the bridge was mined with 1100kg of explosives, but some sources are claiming underwater explosions were more likely caused by drones. The explosion in the video isn't big enough.

It appears at least one surface drone was also intercepted.

The bridge reopened a few hours later. Pretty poor result compared to the airfield attacks.

As far as I know, that's the first statement from Moscow regarding this weekend's attacks on Russia. I think it's interesting (worrying?) that they took so long, and then this is rather vague. Knowing Putin, he'll probably want to keep his cool: Carry on with the military operation untils its objectives are reacherd and don't escalate things too much. But I hear that the mood in Russia is different: they want Putin to be harder on their enemies. So are they taking this long because of an internal debate? Will the harder line manage to put pressure on Putin to react in a more dramatic way?

I'm also a bit concerned about Trump's silence. As far as I know, he hasn't said a word about the incident. I think someone asked his spokeswoman and she said "his position is that he wants peace" or something. But Trump himself hasn't said a thing. And I don't think I've missed it because it would be splashed all over the headlines. Axios reported that Ukraine had briefed the US on the operation. Later it retracted the info. Is it because the White House asked Axios to do so? If Russia knows that Trump knew, then that's a problem. Is Trump quiet because they are trying to figure this out?

Anyway, the silence is kind of creepy.

Might be due to this Waiting for the Oreshniks, while the Istanbul kabuki proceeds “not negatively”, who gave the go-ahead? if it wasn't Trump, who is in charge? ...if If Trump authorized it, that's a huge F problem, while the investigation continues, silence and speculation will prevail.

Putin will continue to focus on the stated goals of SMO. The leadership in Kiev will be disposed. Putin doesn't allow emotions to control him. He will continue in his usual strategic method. It's Ukraine that's unhinged. It's more a matter of what the West will do in the face of humiliating defeat. That is the X factor. OSIT

Ukrainian attacks trigger power outages in Russia

"The strikes came just hours after Moscow and Kiev concluded the second round of direct peace talks in Istanbul"

"The Ukrainian military launched drone strikes on multiple Russian regions late Monday evening, causing a complete blackout in Zaporozhye Region and leaving parts of Kherson without electricity, according to local governors."

“Healthcare facilities have been switched to backup power sources,” Balitsky noted. Some 600,000 households across 457 settlements in the Zaporozhye Region were still without electricity as of 7 am Tuesday,"
