Iran had signed the The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of NuclearWeapons.
Declaring itself a nuclear power might have serious repercussions such as with the United Nations and the relations with other countries who were not aware of the state of affairs.
John Helmer disagrees with the idea that Russia will not support Iran, and more specifically, disagrees that there is no agreement for military support between the two.

Interesting article (longer one) on chronological history of Iran's position on nuclearweapons through religious Fatwas as a mask and 'strategy'.

Its not about rules, laws, who is right or who is wrong, or even who have nuclearweapons, its about who is more bloodthirsty and psychopathic. And that's Israel. They will never be calmed by diplomacy and will never give up and...
...Iran would? 🤷 Iran aren't ISIS or jihadis.. they are Persians.
Also, something else they haven't explained... why can't Iran have nuclearweapons? What's the actual reason?
Why can't Iran have them but Pakistan can?

He would not post it if US is waiting quietly for two weeks. Israel purpose, and it would not be able to do it without the consent/resources/weapons of the US and, getting directly involved is just a formality, wouldn't it?

Sooooo.... Trump, believing he's been chosen by God, goes over to Israel, whacks Bibi, finds a patsy to blame it on, ends the killing and installs himself as the new messiah taking direct control over Israel. Never saw that coming.
Re-reading my original post, the quote from Joe wasn't the subject of my comment! The analysis/reporting in question was Hersh's. But then, in war, the first casualty is always truth!

Basically, Trump genuinely dislikes all the killing and death, but he has this firm belief that "Iran cannot have nuclearweapons". This body language expert thinks that Trump may be giving Israel rope to hang itself, as in Sun Tsu's "don't stop an enemy that is harming...

(Maybe we should send the link to Hersh's substack to the Iranian military command, you know, give them a heads up! ;-) )
Seymour Hersh's latest substack. Basically, it's already been decided. He makes an interesting point that the CIA has a secret base in Azerbaijan, which fits with last year's helicopter downing that killed the Iranian pres. as a preparatory step to what we are seeing today.
I think one of the largest geopolitical indicators may have been the three Chinese cargo planes flying into Iran the day after the Israeli attack. These flights (commonly used to transport military equipment) seem to be pretty much confirmed:
...and the attack by Israel. The plant was already inoperable and no radiation leak possible. Israel took it out to prevent its reactivation and ability to produce nuclearweapons material.

Not sure why it was reported previously as operating unless there's misinformation going on here.
Simplicius has published an article in which this is his conclusion: Iran remains calm despite everything, and perhaps that's why it insists on maintaining nuclear silence; it doesn't feel cornered yet:

I'd say it's probably because if Iran had revealed it had developed nuclearweapons, many other countries might had felt compelled to put pressure on them to cancel the program and impose sanctions etc. that Iran may not have been able to withstand. So they decided that, on balance, they had to...
