"Birke Baehr, an 11-year-old kid from Asheville, N.C., recently gave a five-minute speech at the "TEDx: Next Generation Asheville" event....
Baehr may look like a kid and sound like a kid, but his well-articulated message is something that even most intelligent adults fail to grasp."

I came across this article after reading the congressional food fascism legislation article, then went to the farmtoconsumer.org site http://www.farmtoconsumer.org/news/news-30september2010.htm#10after getting my feathers all ruffled.
Watching this video made me laugh and cry within the 5 minute duration and helped me unruffle my feathers.

Sure. It was scripted, you could tell. He didn't just get up there and start talking but the point was still very good.

I believe this was a contest, so of course, he would have been prepared (ie. scripted). Heck, I probably would of froze with stage fright, regardless of how well I knew my script.

Very cool speech for a 11y old boy. I really enjoyed the passion he presented his facts, that were all relevant, even if it might have been scripted. Great kid! Will forward the link.

Amazing speech! However, I was struck quite unpleasantly with the reaction of the audience. For example in the fish-tomato part, the kid sighed in the middle of a sentence, showing maybe that there is nothing to laugh about? IMHO he looked serious about it for the whole presentation .
