1978 -1986 Bloody trail from Vatican to London

A while ago during some social function I had opportunity to talk with very interesting character. He is an university professor now but long time ago, while I was still figuring out how to tie my shoe laces, he was a Jesuit priest serving in Vatican.
Totally disgusted with everything that was going on before his very eyes in 1978 he left the robe and today he belongs to some Indian sect I cant ever pronounce the name of - Bahaiulula or something like that.

Never before I heard anything about the events he spoke of during that dinner. At first it all sounded as yet another conspiracy theory but it slowly absorbed me and I started.

The information I am going to list here are just facts in chronological order - as they were published in various media...Collected from various websites and mostly Italian publications from the period...

It all begins in 1978. After very short rein Pope John Paul I died. Just before he died he announced he will transform the Roman Church drastically.
His death is shrouded with mystery and even most devoted Catholics raised their eyebrow when, for the first time in history of RC this pope was cremated only 48 h after his demise.

Beginning of Sept. 1978 - Pope John Paul I (in further text the pope) requests from his state secretary Cardinal Jean Vilot to start investigation about banking transactions of the Holly See. During the same month he is scheduled for the meeting with delegation of American congress regarding the latest planetary population trends and birth control.

28 Sept. 1978 - The pope announces the list of Vatican personnel to be transferred or fired. The daily press of the time speculates that all the names on that list are the members of Masonic Lodge group called P2.

29 Sept. 1978: The pope is found dead in his bed. Vilot gives very strange comment to the press- emphasizing that pope died of natural causes. He removes potential evidence material from pope's bedroom "by accident". He also orders pope's body to be embalmed without autopsy. After embalming pope's body is sent for cremation - something previously unheard of in tradition of RC.

October 1978: John Paul II becomes the pope. None of the plans and instructions given by previous John Paul has been followed up.

January 21, 1979: The Judge Emilio Alessandrini is killed. He was involved in the investigation of Banko Amrosiano, the bank whose managing director Roberto Calvi has close connections with Michael Sindona and Vatican.

March 20, 1979: Mino Pecorelli gets killed. He was a journalist involved in the article about activities and members of the group called P2 - a fraction of Masonic lodge apparently entangled in financial connections with Holly see and whose founder Lucio Gelli has close connections with Roberto Calvi.

July11, 1979: Giorgio Ambrosioli is killed shortly after he testified about financial transactions between Sindona and Calvi, activities of group P2 and its members in government and business circles. He also indicated close connection between Calvi and Sindona and Bishop Paul Marcinus from the Bank of Vatican.

July 13, 1979: Lt. Col. Antonio Varisca, chief of Rome Security service is killed. He was investigating group P2, its activities and members. He saw Giorgio Ambrosioli two days before his death.

July 21 1979: Boris Guilano a Commander in chief of Palermo Criminal Department is killed. He also spoke to Ambrosioli 2 days before his death regarding mafia money laundering by Sindoni through The Bank of Vatican in Switzerland.

October 1979: Bomb explodes in the apartment of Enrico Cucci, director of Mediobanca and a witness of Sindoni's threats to Ambrosioli.

February 1980: In the last minute Vatican butts out from the agreement through wich cardinals Caprio and Guerri had to testify in favor of Sindona. Sindona was tried in USA in relation with allegations for, conspiracy , embezzlement and misappropriation of the funds all of which led to collapse of Franklin's National Bank.

May 1980: Michele Sindona sentenced to 25 years..

8 July 1980: Roberto Calvi attempts suicide while waiting for the trial for embezzlement.
Shortly after he is acquitted of the charges and reinstalled as Chief executive of Banco
Ambrosiano.

1 Sept. 1981: The Bank of Vatican apparently at Calvi's request issues certificate of responsibility for the debt of over 1 billion of US dollars.

January 1981: The group of share holders from Banco Ambrosiano sends a letter to Pope John P. II - highlighting the connections between The Bank of Vatican , Robert Calvi, P2 group and Mafia. Pope never publicly acknowledged this letter.

April 1982: Attempted murder of Roberto Rosona, general manager of Banco Ambrosiano, shortly before he announced "the cleaning" of baking operations.

June 1982: Roberto Calvi found hanged under the bridge in London. Few days later 1.3 billion of US dollars found missing from Banco Ambrosiano in Milan.


October, 1982: Guiseppe Dellacha, executive from Banco Ambrosiano, dies instantly after "accidental" fall from the window of Banco Ambrosiano in Milan.

March , 1986: Michele Sindona found poisoned in Italian prison.

This is the end of bloody trail springing from the desire of one pope to clean up his act.

read the book "in gods name by David Yallop many years ago" very informative indeed. I remember it said in the book that the pope that followed the micky mouse loving one was chosen because he could not speak italian at the time of his pontification, It talks about how the vatican when asked to pay taxes would just topple the elected govt as it has much money invested in Italian industry, fiat for one, also it owned a contraceptive company called Lutine......

Good book,well worth a read. Yallop also has written a book on the yorkshire ripper which i always wanted to read but never did,

You might also want to look up the name Paul Marcinkus (Archbishop when he passed, just recently) - - there was even speculation on his role in John Paul I's death, since he was supposedly the last one to see him alive. ( search under 'Marcinkus God's Banker' will bring the info up)

Italians write that pontificate of John Paul I (Albino Luciani) lasted "just one breath". In fact, it lasted only 33 days (what a number!).
His error was that he tried to clean dirty Vatican money. At the same time a Rome newpaper (OP - a scandalous one) published a list of 121 cardinals and archivescoves belonging to Masonic lodges. At 5 AM on 29.09.78 - 33 days after his inauguration , sister Vincenza has found Pope John Paul I dead. Dr. Renato Buzzonetti - Vatican's Phisician has diagnosed Heart attack as a cause of death ( infarcto miocardiaco acuto) and declared time of death on 2300h previous day. The corpse has been embalmed in great haste.
Few days after it was burried (other sources say it was cremated)
Very soon, different rumours started.

Why would Vatican declare that dead pope was found by his secretary Magee who was actually second to come to the site. Allegedly he called upon the state secretary Villot then.
Why was sister Vincenza hushed up. She claimed that she found pope in sitting position with a stack of papers in his hands. These papers were never found.

The bottle of effortil, mild tonic Pope always use to carry with him because of his troubles with low blood pressure has also misteriously dissapeared. Usually it was always on his night stand.

Pope's perosnal doctor Antonio di Rosi was shocked. Just two weeks before he gave pope a thorough physical examination noting the excelent condition of pope's health. He only suffered from low blood pressure and this condition excludes anyu possibility of heart attack. This seasoned physician denied that his patient could ever die of heart attack. Based on his opinion popes relatives requested autopsy.

Being independent state Vatican doesnt fall under the jurisdiction of italian legal system. Therefore Holly See diplomats easily bypassed this request and the body was hastily embalmed which excluded any possibility for proper autopsy.

Just few weeks before his death John Paul I has declared his intention to reconsider the conclusions of II Vatican Council .
Liberal pope as they use to call him , who started off as a soon of comon builder met strong resistance of conservative parts of Vatican curia since the first day of his reign.

Pope has spoken in favour of contraception several times in public and from the inaugurational speach prepared for him by vatican editors he has crossed out all the reference to Humanae Vitae by Paul VI.

On 24 October he had sheduled meeting with J. Scehurji US Congressman and vice president of the UN population foundation, regarding the intiative to downsize population on earth.

Also the pope hinted normalisation of the relations with Moscow. These were disrupted when Russian Orthodox Church emisary at Vatican Father Nikodim was found dead in Vatikan at age 49. Cause of death- you are probably guessing - infarcto miaocardiaco acuto.
