27-08-2009 ..... Two Moons?

I have just read an em@il, according to it 27th August 2009 at midnight from 0:00 to 0:30 there will be two Moons in the Sky, and the one big will be Mars. Anyone knows about it?.... To confirm or deny this information?

Thanks

It's an email hoax that has been in circulation for years. It's covered on Snopes. com here (not that Snopes is always accurate, but in this case, they are)

(oops, sorry Vulcan, you got to it first...)

Interesting hoax that has been around for a while indeed. I was recently on a farm in North Carolina, and I had a discussion with a girl there that swore she saw this event and that it was true. Even after explaining to her that I was aware of the hoax she was speaking of (and that it was in fact a hoax), and trying to explain that even at it's closest passage, Mars could no way appear that large - she still said "I know what I saw" and was convinced of it. She seemed like a reasonable human being in all other respects, in no apparent way delusional, but was still convinced that she saw Mars in the sky along side the moon and about the same size. I suggested that maybe she saw the sun and the moon as they often appear together in the sky at the same time, but no, still convinced it was Mars.

I'm not sure if i'm getting at anything significant here, it's well known that repeated exposure to a specific lie can produce false memories, but such an odd one!?

Perhaps it's conditioning for coming celestial events? I'll keep one eye turned to the sky for now.

Perhaps it falls into the realm of these things?

Thanks for the "truth" Vulcan & Anart.
I got this email a few days ago. But thankfully I did not forward it to anybody :)
