PASADENA, Texas – Four people were injured in a blast at the SunEdison facility in Pasadena early Friday, authorities say.
Life Flight was called to the scene, but authorities say all four people are in stable condition.
The plant is located at 3000 N South, not far from the Buffalo Bayou and Beltway 8.
Nearby residents said they could hear the explosion for miles around. A chemical called silane was released into the air but does not cause any risk to the public, according to authorities. There is no shelter-in-place, and the fire has since been contained.
According to its website, SunEdison is the largest global renewable energy development company.

The site belongs to Albemarle Corporation. According to the company's website, the plant manufactures "a variety of chemical products" and "many of our raw materials are purchased via pipeline." It is located along the Houston Ship Channel.
