52 year old mother look like she is in twenties

The article does not mention that she lives a paleo life style but she actually does!

'I'm a big coconut oil lover,' she explains. 'My mother used it on our hair and skin when we were younger and I've carried on.
'I use......Organic Coconut Oil for cooking, in coffee, for removing make-up, for hair treatments and on my body twice a day as a moisturiser.'
She avoids wheat products such as bread and pasta because of the bloating they cause and doesn't eat fruit because of the high sugar content but says everything else is allowed.
............................
Other tips include avoiding chemicals wherever possible and using pink Himalayan salt in the bath once a week to help banish toxins.
Regular body brushing - and lavish application of coconut oil - keeps her skin soft, as does an overnight mask once a week.

DIET
Pamela, who is of South Asian origin, eats a super-healthy diet based largely on vegetables and topped up with good proteins such as salmon.

Many of the dishes she makes are Asian and are spiced up with ginger, cumin and turmeric, among others, which she says act a bit like food supplements in terms of the health benefits.
Breakfast is usually an organic boiled egg served with gluten-free toast or organic oatcakes and coconut yoghurt with fresh berries and nuts.
To finish off the meal, she has a glass of coconut water with added liquid iron, which she says is key for stopping her iron levels plummeting as she ages.
Lunch comes in the shape of a salad prepared at home in the morning and usually contains a mixture of organic spinach, kale, rocket, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, red peppers, advocado, beansprouts and sauerkraut [pickled cabbage].
Fresh basil and coriander add flavour while pumpkin and sunflower seeds add crunch. 'For protein I’ll add some Arbroath salmon, eggs or chicken and dress the salad with organic olive oil and lemon juice,' she adds.
'I also add cayenne pepper and lots of black pepper.'
Dinner is equally healthy and usually consists of a portion of organic chicken, oily fish or a lamb steak served with a 'mountain of vegetables' - broccoli and courgettes are favourites.
She also eats a daily handful of almonds, snacks on celery and houmus and limits her coffee intake to one a day.
Most of what she eats is organic and she drinks water throughout the day, usually flavoured with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
EXERCISE
Pamela does a body conditioning class once a week and follows that with a fitness yoga session immediately afterwards.
While at the gym, she uses the sauna and steam room and does a whole body exfoliation. She also uses the time to use a hair mask - she likes Aveda's Damage Remedy.
'I’ll go in the sauna for 10 minutes then have a freezing cold shower until the water stops,' she adds.
'I love it – it makes me so feel invigorated and I’m convinced it has helped to tone my skin. Then I will have 10 minutes in the steam and repeat the cold shower.'

Hmm, sounds like an advertisement for coconut oil and a vegetable based diet? She made out well with those, but what if she moisturized with lard or tallow, and ate a meat based diet? :cool2:

Yeah, but she does eat meat too. The nuts and spices (and coffee and some of the veggies) could be a problem for some. Coconut oil and products too - some can't tolerate, but the oil IS a good moisturizer. Unless someone is really sensitive to it, where some absorption through the skin will still cause problems, it probably works just as good as tallow or lard. FWIW.

I like the expression: "Mountain of vegetables". ;D

Not terribly impressive. Her ethnic background is one where people tend to look younger anyway. Frankly, she looks like she is in her 30s to me.

Yes, imagine if she did eat a more keto-based diet. It did remind me of the benefits of coconut oil, especially due to caprilic and lauric acid. There was also this thread on Monolaurin and Lauricidin with their myriad benefits, for those who can't tolerate coconut oil.

My thoughts exactly. She really doesn't look in her twenties, that's just the Daily Mail doing their exaggerated reporting thing that they so enjoy.

I've seen women her age around me who looks like that and even better then she. Plus, those women are white Caucasian, not 'meant' to look younger, and eating 'normal' food.

Thank you for the link Arwenn, I know the benefits of caprilic acid to fight against candida, and monolaurin tablets as antiviral agent but I didn't noticed the thread you shared before.

Ditto. As much as I like the way I feel with the diet, I have no illusions of huge rejuvenation. I am in my thirties, and I look like I'm in my thirties (well, I guess that's something, I could look worse! :D). Genetics does play a big role in this, I think. My siblings and my mom also aged quite fast/normally, and they don't follow any healthy diet at all. My dad didn't, but he has a lot of health issues. I know other people who have horrible diets and, at my age or older, look much younger. So, yeah, I don't buy it. She just looks younger because it's in her genes, and because she doesn't eat too much bad stuff.

That said, prolonged changes in the diet COULD theoretically change our genes and all that. I don't think this woman is a good representation of that, though. AND, some people may look very young in the outside, but it doesn't always mean they are healthy inside, which is what counts the most IMO.

I think it's an exaggeration to say she looks like she is in her twenties. She looks young but her skin shows signs of her years. Nonetheless, for 50's she has aged well compared to most.

Just an observation, in pictures I look like a 63 year old man.

In person, people put me in my early 50's.

Being a high fat(animal) diet fan and shedding 150lbs of body weight since 2008 may help, but people keep commenting on how good I look for my age.
