A FEW THINGS YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT MANIFESTATION

I want to focus here on what some people say about this art and skill
of manifestation. They say your thoughts must be pure. You must put
the needs of others above those of yourself. You must appeal to a
higher power.

Each one of these suggestions is, to a greater or lesser degree,
MISLEADING.

Why? Because they eventually work to override Self. They try to put
roadblocks in the way of manifesting. They actually REDUCE energy. In
some cases, they imply that you must undergo a long period of
"purification" before you start manifesting in earnest.

To put it another way, all the purity and altruism you need or want
will develop AS YOU ACTUALLY PRACTICE MANIFESTING.

A PROGRAM of purification or selflessness is a form of mind control.
It compartmentalizes Self. It tends to create an artificial attitude
that stands against the deep dreams of the Self.

In my forty years of work as a writer, painter, and researcher of
imagination, I have found that the free passion to create is the
primary factor. All the other "advices" about attitude and state of
mind are peripheral, and are usually offered by people who don't
engage in heavy creating day-in and day-out.

There is, in fact, a kind of puritanical tip-toeing approach that
shows up whenever the subject of manifesting is raised. This is based
on fear. It is irrelevant. It signifies a foolish supposition that, by
mistake, you might create a bad thing through the simple act of
entertaining a stray thought that is not tightly controlled. That is
balderdash. A stray thought is not going to cause any harm.

I don't care what you think about in your life. The point is, when
you start to IMAGINE, CREATE, INVENT, IMPROVISE, MANIFEST, a whole
new series of doors will open up to you.

You will, without having to force it, become more generous, more
happy, more alive. You'll gradually shed the belief that what you
want is scarce. You'll view reality in a whole new way.

And as you get what you want, as you manifest what you want, you'll
leave behind any feeling of the need to control others.

Over the years, I've looked into various "philosophies of
manifestation," and I've found that most of them are intent on
putting obstacles in the way. They aren't formulated by people who've
painted a thousand paintings or written a few million words of fiction
and poetry or invented scores of machines. They're formulated by
people who try to put together a "top-down system," who want to build
a metaphysical castle in the sky BEFORE they talk about the actual
work of manifesting.

In Earth culture, there is so much deferring to "other powers" it's
amazing.
It seems that some people want to attribute the power to
create to a rock or a turtle or a worm before they'll allow that a
human being can create all by himself. It's a joke.

I can tell you this. It certainly helps to immerse yourself in
material connected to what you want to manifest. For example, writers
will report they read a great deal as children, and they gained a
great deal of inspiration and insight by reading and reading.

But beyond that, it's all about DOING.
Cheers,

John
