This is a beautiful story about a little guy and marmots. The pictures are something! I love marmots, they are so like Prairie Dogs, physically. And I love rodents, they are "special". Enjoy the pictures!

They certainly like to visit when there's food around, I'll give you that.

The local Coyotes and Fishers (and Martens) come around for the same reason. They like eating bunnies and people's cats.

Do you consider them "special" too?

If not, why wouldn't you?

;D

Azur, there is no reason to be snarky. If you can't post in a positive and helpful manner then it's best to not post at all.

Dang. Ok. But really, where does one draw the line between reality and "fantasy" living?

If one is to be "one" with the World and it's denizens, you need to get out of your head and actually see it as it is. Yes?

Edit: typo

You should start with yourself first. You were banned from posting on this forum for quite some time for exactly this behavior - you are allowed to return and post, after requesting to do so, and here we go again. You should not be advising anyone else on their thinking, Azur, until you understand the most basic premises of your own - which you obviously don't or you'd not behave this way. In short, clean your own house up first before presuming to be able to advise anyone else or point out anything to anyone else.

See above.

You're quite correct. I didn't need to impinge on anybody else's personal experience with Nature.

Azur, have you read the Redirect and Adaptive Unconscious threads? I ask because there might be some unconscious mechanisms underlying the snarky and off-putting comments, and those threads in particular provide some useful exercises to bring such things to light.

I like rodents. In fact I love them. I know Prairie dogs personally and when I say they are specials it is because they are special. They are very different than a dog, for example. Just looking at their hands... and their eyes... When you live with a Prairie dog you discover how amazing they are. They are intelligent, again their intelligence is very different from a dog's. But not everyone like rodents I have to say. It is ok. :D

All animals are beautiful, in their way. And for me everyone, when you can reach to their soul, are "special". Animals or humans.

I've hiked many miles over the years in the mountains of Colorado. The marmots are there living in the talus above the timberline. A part of the alpine experience and joy.

Thanks, Loreta for the pictures.

Crazy what we can do with photoshop eh?

;)

Just kdding. This is quite cute indeed. Who said that marmots and human beings cannot coexist peacefully?

:)

Aren't rats rodents?
I am learning to view them differently. I have always been so afraid them. But now that we have several in our garden and seeing how different my kids react to them (with understanding) I am trying to take an interest in them, instead of running away screaming.

Added:
BTW, the boy in the pictures has some special quality and the animals, too, of course.
