A gift

The Living Force
Hi,

I've been trying to decide what book I should give as a gift to my English-lit teacher. She is originally from Cuba, so she grew up in a communist society. She recently got married, and is leaving to start a new life in England next month and I wanted to give her a book as a parting gift. But I can't decide whether I want to give her something lighter like Unholy hungers, Myth of Sanity, or The Sociopath Next Door. Or if I should just skip the pleasantries and give her the raw info like Political Ponerology.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I would suggest getting her something that you know she is interested in. If she has shown an interest in psychology then those books would be fine, but I wouldn't give her those unless you knew she likes the subject matter. What kind of stuff is she into?

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I thought about what you said, and I have to admit I don't know her too intimately. I've only gotten to know her through her teaching method. I know she is very open-minded and has chosen to give us some hard to digest material. Stuff about ethics, morals, racism and many different subjects. So, I've decided to inquire a little here and there, and try and find out if she has any interests in psychology first before giving her anything.

Just an update on this, I ended up giving her Unholy Hungers and Political Ponerology. She seemed to really like Unholy Hungers and she said she's going to copy some excerpts of it for her advanced ESL class. :o
