This might be already proposed somewhere, so forgive me if this is so...
I've been thinking of our distant past and why so little has been actually found or left over (or, if it cannot directly be explained or fitted in our current dogmas, ignored or hidden).
I read somewhere that before our “civilization” (our world) there were many more (worlds) that went before ours, probably more advanced even (Example: the Great Pyramid is build with stone blocks that our current cranes still cannot lift).
If I understand correctly, according to Indian scriptures we go through 4 ages (Yugas) and currently we are in the last and lowest (Kali Yuga). This last age is the age where we are most distant from the Devine. I think this is expressed (among other things) in our dependence on material items and why most of us are so obsessed by them (and why we try to do spiritual things through mechanical means – a memory of what we were once capable of?). Keep in mind that these ages last a certain time. From what I've read, the highest age last almost 2 million years and the lowest about half a million years. Each age would end in cataclysms.
Taking the above as a basis, I would like to speculate that the further back we go into our past, (going back towards previous ages) the less people depended on the physical. So, previous existing civilizations would also be less dependent on the physical as well. For example, this would be expressed in different ways, like how they communicated with each other or the way they traveled, lived, etc.
Putting these things together, I would like theorize:
- Due to less dependence on the physical and going further and further back in time, we tend to find less and less evidence of previous civilizations;
- Cataclysms tend to wipe the slate clean;
- We try to compare our (mechanical) world view with previous ages where things were done very differently and therefore misunderstood (or even seen as “primitive”)
Does my thinking (theory) make sense or am I rambling?
