A murder in my work complex

Hello group

I wanted to share a disturbing event that occurred in the parking lot of my work, two nights ago.

The details of the event are outlined in this news article.

Thankfully, I wasn’t working that night- but I was working earlier that day (9-5) and the thought of being near a shooting incident is unsettling.
What is also unsettling (at least for me) is that while going to work today to pick something up- I noticed that Superstore grocery- which is in the same complex- was having a huge BBQ. They were tearing the police yellow tape to set up for the BBQ- RIGHT on the spot of the murder. I thought it was very insensitive to have a BBQ on the death spot of someone who had been killed only 2 nights ago. I spoke about it to a girl at Starbucks, and she felt that it didn’t matter, because the person who was killed was also a killer.

I find the entire situation disturbing, and it has given me some things to think about- like how my current city is not as crime-free as I imagined it to be and how these kinds of things can really affect your environment and psyche.

I realize that this man was involved in criminal activity, and this was a ‘targeted hit’ – but when I put myself in the shoes of his family, I think/feel that it’s very insensitive to have a BBQ on the spot of his death only 2 days later. Neema said it’s really sad, but you can’t expect more from corporations like Superstore-and while I agree that you can’t expect more, it’s still really sickening.

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear about this!

To me it doesn't matter if it was a targeted hit of another criminal - or what not, but to have a BBQ in the same spot where someone was killed... two days later?? That is wildly insensitive! Were they from the same gang that killed Milad Saffari?

Thank goodness you were not there at the time!

I'm sorry to hear that to Deedlet!
I'm with Dwan here, a BBQ and 2 days later? :O What were day thinking of? It doesn't matter whether he was a killer or not, osit, the whole situation is disturbing enough to almost not wish set foot on that spot, not to mention having a BBQ!

I know a murder is definitely not a nice situation to have at your doorstep. A couple of months ago, 2 people were murdered within the space of a week, 30 seconds from my house. I thought I lived in a less violent area...thank god I'm moving out soon.

:/ sorry to hear that, a murder is always disturbing (for normal people). Sometimes you may feel like the place has been infected or something.
When you don't feel well remember to breath and it should be okay.

Wow Deedlet. Glad you weren't working that night! It's amazing how a murder can fade into the background so quickly.

Hi Deedlet,

I'm sorry to hear about that. Yes the corporations only care about the money, and its sad. I live in one of the most dangerous cities in America and this always effects me, I know how you feel. I'm glad that you weren't working that night.

Hey guys

Thanks so much for your supportive comments.

Yes, this event was a big shock for me. Especially because only a day before the incident, I was speaking to my store manager about the location of our store, and how I was glad that we're in a "safe" neighborhood. And she was agreeing with me, and than BAM- this happens the next day.

So, it is as if the universe is telling me to always keep vigilant and know that there is really no "safe" place as long as psychopathy exists. Because ultimately, psychopathy is the reason people choose lifestyles that lead to entropy such as gangs, etc...
