A warning dream

:) I just awoke from a most interesting dream. I wanted to get it down before it weekend in meaning.
***I was sitting in my kitchen. (It and everything through this dream looked exactly like it really looks.) I heard a commotion outside of our back porch. Its wooden and built up about 50 feet for the creekbed that diverts flood water. It was dry like it usually is. I went out to look because there were men shouting as if this big dog was going after a cat. Well as I'm looking over the edge of the far side of the railing I see this what I suppose is a regular black cat, but WAY to muscular, built like a dog. It is running for its life from what I can tell, straight for under the porch. Behind it is this absolutely HUGE black cat with these amazing large cat teeth and large yellow eyes. It looks up at me and I immediately realize he was coming for me. As he leaped up onto the porch three things were accuring. 1. I knew it wasn't really a cat (deep inside I could appreciate the effort involved in trying to reproduce such a beautiful animal). 2 I Could actually FEEL it reach inside me. It felt like it was attempting to flick on a light switch. I could feel the "Pull" in my form. It was attempting to control my fear emotion I think, because I would feel and sence the emotion itself just barely perceptible. It would not turn on though. At this his/it's form became even more menacing. But....because I wasn't terrified, (REALLY CONCERNED!) I was able to stay lucid in this dream. This is the first time that's ever happened. It was talking with thought. I don't remember the specifics, but in general it was something like: " I'm going to eat you up and spit you out. You better knock it off. Your nothing, you mean nothing."
On and on. 3. I began slowly making my way to the door, never turning my back on it. Watching it's whole face. Never settling on its eyes.
So those three things were happening all at the same time. As I make my way into the house, that "fear emotion" button is being flicked like crazy. For what ever reason ( I think from the material I have been reading) I was aware enough at some level to control it.
Anyway I made it to my door and closed it.The back door is made of heavy wood frame and a clear heavy panel window. It is still glaring at me. Just as its face would have touched the window it disappeared. I could feel the animals and people in the house coming to see what happened but it was all over.
I woke up thinking "WOW!!! " what was that!
I think it was just a dream from processing? Any thoughts?
Thanks, Tarri

To me looks like you're definitely trying to tell / remind yourself of something. Your present interpretation (the big cat being your 'predator mind') seems a reasonable one.

That is what I thought also. I took it that I needed to stay especially aware of thoughts that trigger responses. I live with a housemate that frequently challenges me. Pushing my mental and emotional response buttons. It is curious how I feel a "switch on" sensation inside my chest. Similar to the dream. It is also interesting how I catch myself more quickly when I am around her. I find it takes longer to notice and catch the running thoughts that are in the background. They are not triggered and so I guess they get missed easier as we are concentrating on other things. Long time habits are the tricky ones to break.
