Tommy Edison is a blind man most known for being a blind film critic and using his Youtube channel to address questions people have about what blind life is like. I think he has a wonderful sense of humor, and the different perspective his Q&A videos have given me pause for thought sometimes regarding how we perceive our reality.

The lady anchor starts off with a sort of flub calling the "Other" Film Festival (an event there in Australia from what I gather) a "festival celebrating disability", before quickly correcting herself with a more polite phrasing. It may just be me, but it seems like through the whole thing they subtly talk down to him. I wouldn't really have taken note but at the end of the interview, when Tommy will need some help, she says "stay right where you are and we'll um.. get you out of the studio."

From what I've seen I get the impression the Tommy is quite capable of dealing with the occasional weird treatment he might receive regarding his disability, so I was more thinking that this might be a little example of an unusual situation messing with the media folks' "masks". It reminds me of how some "snooty" people can't keep from talking down to others even when they know they must be polite.

Rather minor in the grand scheme, maybe.
