Actual "smartass" answers to public school test questions

Here's some answers given on tests by American students. Unfortunately, these hilarious "smartass" answers are just evidence of the students' dumbness (excepting perhaps #7, if that's actual Chinese text!).

Pretty funny.

Reminds me of a history test I took once. The question was about "urban spinoff." Well, heck, I drew a blank. That kind of history bored me. So I made up a fanciful tale about about Pope Urban who was, unbeknownst to anyone at the time, and historians since, was actually Russian and whose name was really Urbane Spinov, corrupted to Urban Spinoff.

I got an A.

As a school teacher I'd like to remark that children are not inherently "dumb", even american children. They, as we are, are products of their environment. Although we can look at a standard test or worksheet, ( or a web page  ) and see answers that we as adults find humorous and pathetic, judging a child's intellect based on a few answers is WEAK evidence. Very weak. So I like to see more talk about how to nurture the intellect of our youth instead of sitting there and insulting it. Let us all ask our selves what we have done recently to better the intellect of a child?-- without I like to add, making them "feel dumb". And the child who responded "Love" to " What the strongest force on Earth?". Is correct. So why don't we show some to our youth.

Yeah, I thought a number of the responses were pretty clever and a fun diversion from rote learning.

I agree with you. Any "dumbness" exhibited reflects more on the "educational" system than the innocent kids subjected to it.

I remember back when I was about 12 or 13 sitting in history class. The teacher asked the class to name a great comedy team. Without thinking much about it I blurted out "Nixon and Agnew" :D and the teacher laughed. For those who don't know they were pres and vice pres of the USA in about 1969 to 74.

 Yes, the answers are very funny and clever in their own way.

I agree that children aren't necessarily born dumb. The education system certainly does not encourage free thinking and develop intelligence (how dangerous would that be for the PTB). Things like flouride in water, the low fat/high carb diets recommended as healthy eating, over-sexualization of kids through socio-cultural conditioning etc. certainly doesn't help either.

Thanks for sharing. I thought they were funny, but intelligent too. It looks like they're thinking outside of the box.
