The Living Force
Adriano Celentano
Celentano was born in Milan at 14 Via Gluck, about which he later wrote the famous song "Il ragazzo della via Gluck" ("The boy from Gluck Street"). His parents were from Foggia, in Apulia, and had moved north for work.

According to urban legend, before beginning his singing career, Celentano was a student of Ghigo Agosti (European rock pioneer) during Agosti's 1955-1956 Northern Italian tour, which was also guitarist Giorgio Gaber's debut.[clarification needed]

Heavily influenced by his idol Elvis Presley and the 1950s rock revolution, he is also known as the most famous dancer of the Hula hoop fad. For the last 40 years he has retained his popularity in Italy, selling millions of records and appearing in numerous TV shows and movies. In the latter respect, he has also been a creator of a comic genre, with his characteristic walking and his facial expressions. For the most part, his films were commercially successful; indeed in the 1970s and part of the 1980s, he was the king of the Italian box office in low budget movies. As an actor, critics point to Serafino (1968), directed by Pietro Germi, as his best performance.

As a director he frequently casts Ornella Muti, Eleonora Giorgi and his wife Claudia Mori. He and Claudia have three children; Rosita, Giacomo and Rosalinda Celentano, most notable to worldwide audiences for playing Satan in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. He also often works as a host on several Italian television shows.

He has released forty albums: comprising twenty nine studio albums, three live albums and eight compilations. His most famous songs are "La coppia piu' bella del mondo", which sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc;"Azzurro" (1968), with lyrics by Paolo Conte; and "Prisencolinensinainciusol" (1972).

Celentano was referenced in the 1979 Ian Dury and the Blockheads song and single, "Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3", as one of the aforementioned "reasons to be cheerful".

Adriano Celentano has been a vegetarian since 2005 and defends animal rights.

Scene ormai irrecuperabili

Io non sono più il tuo pensiero
Non sono più il tuo amore vero
Sono il dolce con fondo amaro
Che non mangi più

(strumentale)

(ma perchè non l’hai detto prima
Chi non ama non sarà amato mai)
Upon confessing my love
I am not the only one, the only
You have hidden in your heart
An indispensable history

I'm no longer your thoughts
Am no longer your true love
They are sweet with bitter aftertaste
That you don't eat any more

But because you are another woman
But because you're no longer you
But why didn't you say so before
Who does not love will never be loved

What have you done with our own good?
It became a cold shiver
The laughter, our dinners
Are now a sunken scene

I'm no longer your thoughts
Am no longer your true love
They are sweet with bitter aftertaste
That you don't eat any more

But because you are another woman
But because you're no longer you
But why didn't you say so before
Who does not love will never be loved

When comes the evening
And the memory slowly disappears
The sadness in the heart
Opens a gap larger than the sea
Than the largest sea

But why didn't you say so before
Who does not love will never be loved

What have you done with our own good?
It became a cold shiver
The laughter, our dinners
Are now a sunken scene

I'm no longer your thoughts
Am no longer your true love
They are sweet with bitter aftertaste
That you don't eat any more

(Instrumental)

But why didn't you say so before
Who does not love will never be loved

Prisencolinensinainciusol
"Prisencolinensinainciusol" [prizɛnkɔlɪnɛnsɪnɛnʧʲuzəl] is a song composed by Adriano Celentano, and performed by Celentano and his wife, singer/actress-turned-record producer Claudia Mori. A very popular performance of the song, broadcasted by RAI, shows Celentano with showgirl Raffaella Carrà, who is dancing and lyp-synching to Mori's vocals. It was first released as a single on November 3, 1972, and later on his album Nostalrock. The lyrics are pure gibberish, often described as sounding like American English as heard by a non–English-speaker[citation needed].

In an interview, Celentano explains that the song is about "incommunicability" because in modern times people are not able to communicate to each other anymore. He added the only word we need is prisencolinensinainciusol, which is supposed to stand for "universal love".

Celentano's rationale for the song was that, after releasing albums about ecology and social issues, "having just recorded an album of songs that meant something, I wanted to do something that meant nothing".

The song was recorded at least twice for television broadcast. The song has been included on the 2008 dance compilation album Poplife Presents: Poplife Sucks.

The song has recently enjoyed a revival as a nascent Internet meme[citation needed], having been posted on Boing Boing in December 2009 and subsequenly picked up by the Italian press.

a volte nascosto a volte intuitivo

poi passa poi torna non so come dire
If I laugh, if I cry, there'll always be a motive
If I think, if I sing I feel more alive
If I win, if I lose I return to the game
But deep down it's enough if you think about me a little bit

If I look, if I hear, it's because I believe
If I talk, if I listen, it's because I see
Now, if you think I'm satisfied
You've made a mistake, I'm not finished yet

If I scream louder, it's to make them listen to me
And then, you know me, I don't like to lie
If I'm still looking for a shorter way
I work at night, I test them

And I walk when the sun is close
And I squeeze my teeth when you don't hear me
And I try to be a bit calmer
If you want me to turn around the life
And I walk, I'm going to meet tomorrow
I feel stronger if I hold your hand
And I seek or I invent, I distort the life
It's because you don't say this is over

If I think, if I say there is always a motive
If at times I go, it's because I don't approve
And I look for words that have more sense
Wait a minute, now I think
Here it is, there is always a motive
At times hidden, at times intuitive
It depends from case to case, maybe it's already written
And now for example I don't know if I wait for you.. and

If I think, or feel more nervous
It's just a tedious moment
Then it goes, then it comes back, I don't know how to say it
There is always a motive.. to come back to understand
