I went to the premier screening of ‘After this Life’ last night. It is produced locally and is the story of a local man, Ron O’Donnell, who channels a guide called Laska.
Along with brief synopses of each topic that the DVD covers, excerpts of the film can be watched here _www.afterthislifedvd.com .
From the website:
While some of what is said seems to align with the material of the C’s, and also the research that Laura and team have put into that material, there also seems to be some twists that are a little alarming. So I write with the above considering what I’ve learned here about disinformation, and that the best lies have elements of truth. Here I’ll admit that I’m still reading much of the material on the Cass site, and I feel that that which I have read could do with at least a second reading.
My impressions:
-In person and while giving an introduction to the DVD, the guide Lanka invaded Ron’s body to talk. While Ron’s material does on the one hand promote free will, I was alarmed that he did not seem to be under control of when the guide entered his body to speak through him. It seems to be that the possession is via interruption rather than invitation. Either that or what I saw was an elaborate attempt to use drama to pull off a hoax.
-When Ron talks about his childhood, he described instances and events that may be the surface memories of alien abductions. Later on he goes on to describe what I believe to be greys. His impression of them is that they are friendly and helpful and that is the view that he is promoting.
-He made the statement that religions are good and if I remember correctly his wording was that they have helped people find the courage to do good things. While I agree that there are instances of that, I don’t believe that it is the objective or the whole truth. In another segment in talking about suicide, he seems to conflict this when he refers to the suicide activities of Islams in war/terrorism situations. Ron makes the prediction that a new spiritual leader will appear in the next 50 – 100 years, again promoting monotheism. He also admits that religions will change from within and that they will operate differently in the future.
-He seems to interfere with the Free Will of the souls of children in that when they are ill, he binds there soul to their body with a ‘golden rope’. He admits that he does not attempt to treat adults without their invitation or permission, but his guide ‘allows’ him to treat children without their permission or invitation.
-His ‘enlightenment’ seemed to be spontaneous in that it occurred without any work on himself or without any trying circumstances. It happened while he was on holiday and the ‘effects lasted for three weeks’. While I believe that I’ve read that this is possible, it is also rare and when I consider that with what I’ve already noticed, I feel some doubt: I wonder if Ron is more likely to be possessed than he is enlightened?
-He states that clairvoyance and schizophrenia are the same thing. I don’t know enough about either to take this statement as fact, but will admit that I felt a little disturbed by it. His statement about the above included the phrase ‘hearing voices’, so perhaps he should have said clairaudience rather than clairvoyance in this example. I maybe just nitpicking here as in the examples of the work that he does with people, he also seems to use clairvoyance.
-Ron makes the statement that the medical profession should open up to consider alternative treatments. All of the visuals on the DVD in regards to treatment of people are examples of allopathic treatments and prescription drugs.
The last leads this ‘critique’ for want of a better word to my local knowledge of the people involved in the production.
- The DVD is produced by Marymark Media (_www.marymarkmedia.com) owned and operated by Mark and Mary Piepers. Mark is an ex cameraman, journalist and anchorman for news programs here in Aus. His wife Mary is an allopathic doctor.
-Appearing in the production is Dorothy Stowers. I don’t know much about her, but I do know a bit about her husband, Tony Stowers, who was also in attendance last night. He is a known assosciate of Ron Owen. Ron Owen belongs to the extreme right, was a local councilor and had a candidacy for the position of Mayor at the last local elections. He hit the national news headlines here a number of times leading up to and during his time with local council . He is the owner of Lock Stock and Barrel magazine ( ABC journalist interviews him here: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/mediarpt/mstories/mr230501.htm )
In the article here: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=636209 local lesbians took him to court for vilification. In the article it states that the offending bumper sticker was not on a car that was registered in his name. The local story, and one that I can’t verify, is that the car was registered in his company name. In his defense against the vilification charges, he relied heavily on passages from the Bible.
After this Life has attracted some international interest. Mark Piepers and Ron O’Donnell have appeared in ‘Beyond Belief’ television program, and according to a local newspaper article (which I have read, but can’t find in my search on the site of that local newspaper) it will be shown at a film expo in Hamburg, Germany.
