Agent Orange

The Living Force
I talked to someone recently who suffers from being exposed to Agent Orange during his time in Vietnam, and he indicated that he would be open to any advice regarding how to alleviate the symptoms and repair the damage. I'm planning on sharing what I know generally about diet and detoxification, but was wondering if anyone has any experience or more specific suggestions about information that I could give him. I found one site that has a protocol that seems to be pretty congruent with our take on diet and detox here (it seems to be down on smoking, but because of the chemical additives in cigarettes) which I will probably use as a guideline that I modify with other tips about things like gluten and dairy, but I am open to any other suggestions.

The first thing that comes to mind is his water source purified to highest standards. And can he or does he take saunas, or steam if he is able? But as i read on their seems to be a process that may require for the slow release of the poison over period of time, that may be stored in fat cells, (as to fast, and that it overwhelms the immune system and vital organs which may create complications). Sort of like how one detoxes from THC toxicity. It collects in stored fat cells and takes many months to a year to clear out of the system. Can he, or has he tried Colloidal Silver, or Bentonite? Will keep looking. These links below may be of help.

Sorry to hear your friend had to endure the exposure, and now the side effects. All best to him.

Agent Orange Terminology http://www.gmasw.com/ao_terms.htm
compiled: by Gary D. Moore e-mail: ao@gmasw.com

The following collection of terms are a combination of medical and scientific words used when reading about Agent Orange, herbicide, dioxin, and/or the diseases related to the effects of herbicide exposure. I have tried to present these terms at a level that a normal person can understand. Sometimes it is an impossible task. I have referenced texts that may help clarify a term. I encourage anyone who is interested in pursuing research, or trying to understand the ill effects of dioxin to purchase these references. The "references" have been very helpful in my research efforts. It is my sincere hope that this list of TERMS will clarify, educate, and, hopefully, assist your understanding about dioxin.

I would have thought looking at the sluggish liver thread (getting his liver working and protecting it from the toxins in his system), and making sure he is eating lots of healthy fats would also be extremely important. Have to replace those fat cells with something.
My understanding is the body/cells can't detox properly if its not built with the right fat.

My error i understand that the damage is already done, and now he is couping with the after effects of the dioxins of the defoliant Agent Orange. Upon reading some information their was more than one type defoliant agent used.

From www.globalreserach.ca
Among those defoliants, there is Agent blue, holding cyanide particularly efficient to poison the rice fields, Agent green, Agent white, Agent purple, Agent pink, according to species to be destroyed, then Agent orange, so called because of coloured strips on the barrels containing the poison. Agent orange represents by only one 62% of the sprayed defoliant's mass in Vietnam. ( http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=4490 )

What i was thinking is, has there been a complete elimination of the dioxin from the body. But having suffered the exposure in the late 60's that perhaps any traces left are on gentic, and reproductive scale.

So you are right Redfox as the question is what can be done to limiting any further damage to the immune system, and minimize the side effects, from the exposure with support of liver and cellar integrity.

As noted by Shijing the person in question understands that diet will be vital key in his defence. Other concerns would be issues that stress the immune system and have the ability to damage cell integrity in daily life now. Such as what are the condition to his personal house keeping. What is kept in the kitchen, under the sink that could be a concern? Is his house to air tight, and does it get enough ventilation. What kind of EMF trash is around.

Like many men that like to tinker in environments that would compromise his already delicate condition.

Does he work (when in the shop or garage) around, or in the vicinity, or handle heavy metals, pesticides, pool products, automotive fluids, antifreeze, paint, and paint thinner, (sometimes found in old food containers or soda bottles). Harsh chemicals could erode improper containers and leak fumes or liquids that can cause accidental poisoning, and respiratory problems.

Does he wear latex gloves when changing oil of a car, eliminating contact and passage to the blood stream of petrol chemicals?

Respiratory equipment in dusty environments for lung protection.

When he cuts his lawn does he use an electric, a push mower, as to a gasoline fired lawnmower, exposing himself to carbon monoxide?

If he exorcises does he do so in pollution free setting, as to a busy thoughfare where the presence automobile traffic is particular heavy?

Is alcoholic beverage consumed often, effecting diabetic and liver health?

Does he get plenty of R&R, meditate, quite time etc., for nerve and metal health support?

And on a personal note would your firend be interested in joining the forum to work through some of the past of the war? I also have friend, whom served in the Vietnam (search and destroy missions ) and struggles too, with the aftermath, but does not talk much about it and has internalized much of the violence and the PTSD of the War. Sometimes talking can have great benefits.

But its always difficult for him to talk of the experience, as he is still on the front line, you know lose lips, sink ships. Maybe in time, he will unwind.

Proving Lung Cancer Due To Agent Orange – Vitamin C – Benefits To Aging Baby Boomers
Posted by rusiana on February 21st, 2011 http://rusi12.com

Vitamin C is pretty much the do-it-all supplement pertaining to baby boomers. I’d possibly call it the guard dog of vitamins for individuals. It can help watch over our bodies, works with different agents to prevent and/or safeguard from certain kinds of medical conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease and even can be useful for the formation of collagen.

Vitamin C and/or ascorbic acid, as it is referred to, is a water-soluble vitamin. It is not produced within the human body and must be obtained through the food we consume or perhaps from health supplements. It is probably the best protective type of vitamin that we as baby boomers might take.

One of the very first recognized values from the vitamin was when “limeys” or British mariners started making use of limes to help resupply their bodies with vitamin C. They learned to eat the fruit soon after coming down with a disease called scurvy. Without the vitamin, the sailors would come to be easily fatigued and start to have joint pain which was accompanied by inflammation. They also began to lose their teeth and had hair loss, even bruising and also bleeding. Consuming the vitamin rich fruit slowed and reversed the symptoms.

It is probably one the more potent antioxidant supplements and therefore proving its worth for us baby boomers. As an antioxidant, it protects from the harm connected with free radicals in countless ways. It also protects the different types of cells within the body of which a particular major concern is the DNA and RNA building blocks of the body.

The following review (Enstrom JE, Kanim LE, Klein MA. Vitamin C intake and mortality among a sample of the United States population. Epidemiology. 1992;3(3):194-202) discovered that danger of death because of cardiac disease ended up being 42% lower in men and 25% less for females who consumed at least fifty mg/day of dietary vitamin C and who frequently took vitamin C health supplements.

Besides vitamin C being a primary protector of the body’s cells, it is also important to the formation of the structural part of our bodies called collagen. Collagen is really a special protein and it is the body’s means of holding us together. It attaches and also supports body tissue, bones, muscles and the connective tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. The blood vessels are aided by the collagen also.

One more creation playing role associated with vitamin C is concerning the neurotransmitter, norepinephrine. It helps with the availability of serotonin and
norepinephrine which assists in the fight to suppress depression. Wikipedia states
“Differences in the norepinephrine system are implicated in depression. Serotonin-
norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors are antidepressants that treat depression by increasing the amount of serotonin and norepinephrine available to postsynaptic cells in the brain.”

There are numerous researches out that proves vitamin C can decrease the danger regarding several types of cancer. This is accomplished not just by its means to battle the affect of free radicals but by also helping to prevent the development of cancer causing carcinogens. These carcinogens, which often times originate from preserved an/or processed meats, are referred to as N-nitroso compounds.

Additional areas of interest where ascorbic acid is beneficial to baby boomers is concerning the absorption of iron, both from plant and also animal sources. One research study in 1998 demonstrated that when ingested as supplements, the vitamin lowered the chance of developing Alzheimer’s Disease. It has already been proven that whenever paired with beta-carotene, it helps to safeguard against Parkinson’s Disease.

Vitamin C, when included with other nutritional supplements such as vitamin E, Zinc and beta-carotene, it supplies a powerful mixture to bolster the immune system. When included with selenium and vitamin E, the amount of risk is much lower for getting macular degeneration. And lastly, when added with vitamin E, the two supply a healthy protection against the aging side effects of your skin. Vitamin C also reactivates the antioxidant ability of vitamin E after it has been used up during the process of neutralizing free radicals.

Food sources for the vitamin consist of nearly all the varieties of fruits and vegetables. Some are broccoli, cauliflower, mustard and turnip greens, brussel sprouts, spinach, cabbage, asparagus and celery. The fruits would include cantaloupe, limes, oranges and grapefruit as well as strawberries an other types of fruit.

The recommended dietary allowances are broken up for women and men. The established
allowance for adult females is 75 milligrams/day and 90 milligrams/day for adult males. It’s also proposed that smoker’s normal daily allowance needs to be at least 35 mg’s higher as a result of the oxidative stress placed on their bodies. One scientist/educator, Linus Pauling, recommended extremely high daily amounts of vitamin C for all around maximum health.

Specific to the Baby Boomers

Antioxidant – The antioxidant value is unsurpassed, especially when added with other vitamins and minerals.

Cardiovascular Diseases – Cardiovascular diseases have been significantly
lowered in those who regularly take the vitamin.

Cellular – Cellular damage is significantly decreased because of its antioxidant abilities.

Collagen – Collagen, the protein type glue that holds us together, is dependent on its synthesis ability.

Neurotransmitters – The neurotransmitter, norepinephrine, is aided in its formation by vitamin C and helps fight depression.

Cancer – The risk of cancers such as stomach, colon, mouth and throat, lung,
breast cancer and more have been lowered by the use of vitamin C. (Much of the research centers on mega-doses of supplements and/or intravenous or ascorbate infusions.)

Iron Absorption Iron absorption is aided helping to have healthy red blood cells which in turn aids the body’s oxidation.

Neurological Diseases – Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease have been reduced when vitamin C is taken as a supplement and paired with other vitamins.

Immune System – The immune system is strengthened.

Macular Degeneration – Macular degeneration risk are decreased.

Aging – Aging effects of the skin have been shown to slow.

Reactivating Ability – It reactivates the antioxidant ability of Vitamin E.

Please note that when taking supplements you should always consult your physician or a trusted nutritionist.

I'm not sure if he would or not -- I don't know him or his history really well at this point, but I will probably direct him to the Diet & Health board here as part of the info that I pass on to him. After that, I'll let him browse and see what happens -- who knows, he may become interested in participating, but I'll have to do first things first, starting with getting him the health info and seeing how interested he is and willing to put it into practice.

My husband is also a victim of agent orange..he suffers from diabetes, neuropathy involving his legs and feet,PTSD and slightly elevated blood pressure. He suffers...his feet hurt all the time.
He is a good soul, but not the least bit interested in becoming more aware..and now I am beginning to see that trying to make him more aware is violating his free will..
But I am open as his wife to ways I can improve his conditions in the arena that he sees as mine...diet,etc.

Sherry Roger's book, Detoxify or Die, would be a good resource for him. If he's not too squeamish he could try the coffee enemas she recommends.

Here in "The Toxicity of Cadmium Air Pollution: A Reappraisal Sandra M. Pinkham, M.D." _ http://www.bodycenteredtherapies.com/pinkhammedical/documents/CADENVIR.pdf there is this part that may point out to the appropriate course of actions regarding the matter, besides what was already suggested above:

Free cadmium ions are causing problems in plasma membranes at 1.6nM (Verbost et al., 1987). The effects associated with low level pulsating magnetic fields mimic those of cadmium (Brodeur, 1989). Since both are ubiquitous it is necessary to consider them both rather than try to tease out the effects of either alone. Hormones enhance cadmium uptake in certain tissues in higher life forms.
Dioxins, which are also ubiquitous, may act as carriers for cadmium across certain membranes. Cadmium has a potential for complexing with many kinds of substances identified as dangerous.

In the same article, it is shown that cadmium is, maybe, the most toxic metal, especially if we consider it's action upon the whole human body and how even a minute (almost untraceable) amounts of it can wreck a havoc on a whole system. Therefore, chelation of cadmium might be in order. Apparently, it's not easy to evaluate contamination with cadmium, as it is not always shows during the hair analysis for heavy metals. It hides and accumulates in the body, while there is almost none of it in the hair. _http://drlwilson.com/Articles/cadmium.htm I did a quick search for cadmium detox, and it was suggested that the process must be conducted slowly with many precautions. __http://blog.detox-explained.com/dirty-dozen-cadmium.html From what I read, it became apparent that as a first step, even before detox procedure will be initiated, the levels of magnesium and zinc need be quite high.

Hope it helps.

Thank you so much..I will look into that! In 2010 he did a sort of detox therapy that I found involving green black walnut tincture along with wormwood and cloves. Also there a zapper that involved frequency within the body. He did improve but it was a LOT of capsules to take daily and he quit

You're welcome, Gloria54 :) Please proceed with caution. I would be especially careful about the Zapper. Maybe, others more knowledgeable in this area, can share some of their thoughts?
