ALC Acetyl L-Carnitine

Mr. Premise

The Living Force
I was wondering if anyone else has taken ALC Acetyl L-Carnitine. I read about it in Sherry Rogers's The Blood Pressure Hoax where she said that it improves brain function. I bought some and felt pretty much an immediate improvement in brain function.

I have never taken Acetyl L-Carnitine but interestingly I just got a new product today from my chiropractor with N-Acetyl Carnitine in it. It is called Neuro-PTX from Apex Energetics.

Neuro-PTX is formated to address brain degeneration which is something we all have to work at. Brain isn't just for memory. 90% of brain output is to what is called the vaso-vagal system or that system that controls blood pressure and blood flow and intimate control of the entire digestion process along with bladder control. Neuro-PTX works against damaging free radicals and helps support energy production through mitochondrial pathways. Recommended dosage is 1-3 capsules 3 times per day or as directed by your health care professional.

And from this website: http://www.strideintohealth.com/main/page_product_gallery_our_products_nacetyl_carnitine.html

N-AcetylCarnitine improves energy production, supports memory and concentration, protects neurological tissue, enhances fatty tissue utilization and improves male fertility .

N-Acetyl Carnitine is a more bioavailable form than L-Caritine. It plays an important role in lipid metabolism and energy production. It is important for mitochondrial function and the transportation of fatty acids into the mitochondria for beta-oxidation and energy production.

It also supports normal memory function and concentration, through increasing levels of Acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is an important neurotransmitter and is often reduced in the in the aged with memory related problems.

N-Acetyl Carnitine is also believed to lessen oxidative stress and damage in the brain and helps in the regeneration and repair of neurons and slows neuronal decline. It promotes healthy aging of the nervous system. Carnitine is often low in people with various types of neuropathy.

Low levels of carnitine has also been identified as a possible cause in male infertility. Carnitine added to a sperm sample (in vitro) increased the sperm motility. Preliminary research also suggests carnitine to may play a role in testosterone production.

I can't say much about how it affects me yet. I have only taken one dosage but I feel good now! :D

I put it everyday in my morning shake, among other things. The powder form stinks, but the flavor gets masked with the berries, xylitol, flaxseed oil and the banana. I always feel so good after the shake :)

I've been taking 500Mg of it every morning for at least five or six years, along with a lot of other things. I find it helps with mental stamina.

Another good thing for that is Phosphatidyl Serine which I normally take 100Mg of normally and increase to 200-300Mgs when I have to play shows, especially when on tour when I need to be really sharp. It has the effect of clearing my focus, in much the way that a good sleep might do.

I started taking it a couple of days ago. I am not sure whether I felt a difference straight away, except for this afternoon, when I took a second dose of about 500 mg. And now I am taking another one.
According to PBPM 500 to 2000 mg may yield beneficial results.
What I also like about it is its supposedly antiglycating properties. And I sure wish to improve my brain function. ;)

I'll start taking it to stop certain muscle spasms and release energy from fats as I read in the article by Mrs. Tigersoap:

http://fr.sott.net/article/8684-Le-regime-paleolithique-revisite (I don't found the English version, sorry. I read the article in Spanish). Because I've noticed that occasionally appear some spasms.

I will read more articles in the web because some want to associate carnitine with heart disease and others who say the opposite, that's it help to prevent seconds heart attacks!. From what I read in the forum so far, only good experiences with carnitine was reported. :)
