Algae that's FIFTY MILES long

Fresh on the heels of the algae a basking shark turns up in the same waters 2 months earlier than normal. If the seawater has warmed up considerably, which these records seem to indicate, I wonder what's causing it? Volcanic activity on the sea bed somewhere further out in the Atlantic Ocean, maybe?

Giant shark seen off coast of Cornwall

A giant summer visitor – a basking shark – has arrived off the coast of Cornwall two months early. The arrival of the world’s second- biggest fish was seen by scuba divers off Roskilly Beach at Newlyn. Normally basking sharks, which can grow more than 30ft long, appear in May.
