Alice in Wonderland (2010)

I also heard of it a while ago, so far some pretty impressive pictures and an interesting mixture of digital art and acting.
And what I find kind of inappropriate is that Alice looks rather old in the film. Maybe not to make a whole film for children (to have a beautiful woman and an beautiful actor (Johnny Depp))?

This movie was still showing in the theater I usually go to so I was able to watch it yesterday.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Visually striking. There may be some interesting bits there that could be related to "the work" but I think that they have one part of it backwards.
I wouldn't recommend kids to watch it because some of the visuals would most probably be disturbing for them.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

The movie ended with Alice returning to the "real world" to tie up loose ends from just before her adventure in wonderland started. She was able to become an adult and "face the known" after "facing the unknown". Which is backwards from what Castaneda (or was it Gurdjieff) said that "one is able to face the unknown without flinching after one is able to face the known without flinching" (I'm paraphrasing here).

But then again her previous "unremembered" visits could be thought of as "past lives" and then she finally gets it and accomplishes her objective in her last visit which becomes a marker, a milestone and matures into an adult in real life.
Or maybe I'm just trying too hard to find a link between the movie and the work.

Also, I probably need to re-read Alice in Wonderland and re-familiarize myself with the original content. I'm not sure how much the movie deviated from the original material.

Alice in Wonderland

Have you seen this movie from the director Tim Burton. Kinda rememberme how your lessons could be showed in maybe a dream.

How its adventure in wonderland was like the lessons she needed to learn in the (suposetely) real life. You have to see it.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I really liked this movie. It was the only one I ever saw in 3D. To me the movie represented learning how to become your true self while living in an environment of STS verses STO. Courage to be and do is what I got out of it. Plus it was entertaining. I had just bought a signs of the times shirt from The Rabbit Hole a couple days before I saw it.

Re: Alice in Wonderland

Really enjoyed this movie too! The character of Alice was a bit of a quirky, strong-willed person who wanted to be her own person and not give into fate or destiny, but write her own life's story. "This is my dream, and I'll decide what happens in it!"

I liked this movie so much, I saw it twice!

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I saw this movie a while ago and I remember not thinking much of it at all. Didn't hold my interest much.

I saw this version called Alice and like it much better. _http://www.blockbuster.com/browse/catalog/movieDetails/472350

Re: Alice in Wonderland

I enjoyed the movie but nothing more.
I found that the white queen (Ann Hathaway) was quite funny.

But what was that last scene where Alice discuss new trade routes to China ?
I thought it was weird and a sort of priming for young girls to become business women to support the capitalistic system but maybe i am seeing too much into it ;)

Edit : now that I think about it, it's ok, Alice got her dream world, she defeated the Dragon and such but now, let's go back to business, stop dreaming , grow up and let's make some money in here :)

Agree with Tigersoap, ending message of the movie was quite STS oriented, after whole movie concentrated on "fight against the dragon", Alice returned to the STS world as "emancipated girl" following the path of the business and money :(.

...or the path of travels and adventure, the path that she herself creates. At least that's how it appeared to me ;D

Overall, it was good entertainment while it lasted, good graphics work and i was most impressed with the costumes.

Yes, that's right, you are correct....I had forgot about the last part of the movie with the new trade routes to China. Selective memory for ya.

I thought the movie was very artistic and the special effects were great.

However, I must admit I was disappointed at the ending and the exact same thought came to me that this was clear cut Disney propaganda about corporations and making money being cool and great. And how being part of a corporation is so amazing because it will cause you to travel to unseen places (like China) and explore the real wonderland within our own world- all the while becoming rich because money is all that matters in the end.

That was my take on it anyway :P

It is so rare for me to have enough interest or inclination to watch TV or movies, but I surprised myself tonight. I had some things I wanted to do on the computer, but when I happened to catch a scene from that movie my wife was watching, I was all in!

Such wonderful madness! I really enjoy Johnny Depp's portrayal of the Mad Hatter. Everyone else's performance was good too and I felt a mischievous affinity with Cheshire Cat. :D

I've always enjoyed this story, ever since Lewis Carroll first popularized it. Tim Burton's wackiness made it enjoyable again!

I watched this movie today. I have a great fascination with the original movie , when I looked at this movie, this one looked like paled w.r.t original movie. Yes, costumes, music etc are great Disnyeish. The story sounded like narnia mixed with original 'Alice in wonderland'. The end scene of going to china for trade sounded more imperialistic ( or the script writer couldn't get better than that). probably I have too much expectation from the movie or expecting 6D. ;)

I thought it was ok. Visually gripping, especially the Cheshire cat, but it lacked the depth of the books themselves, the craziness, and the playing with logic and mathematics.

Whereas Carrol's nonsense was really a perspective on mathematics, it seems to me that Burton's nonsense is just nonsense.

The ending was a particular downer as well, as noted above with Alice going off into business to, as we know, plunder China.
