Alternate use of cabbages

So I dunno how many of you here know this,so I figured I'd share some of this with you. This idea came about because I bruised my knuckle on a punching bag and my mum said to me ''just put a leaf of cabbage on it''.
Suddenly I remembered being a little boy in a hospital getting shots for meningitis. The nurse that delivered the shots was a very miserable and grumpy person. So when she'd stick the needle into my Gluteus Maximus it'd leave bruised lumps in the muscle tissue.Eventually I had so many lumps that sitting became difficult if not impossible. So mum began putting cabbage leaves on the lumps, exchanging them every couple of hours, and in a couple of weeks all of the lumps were gone. It's something of a traditional medicine in my family that's been passed down from my great grandmother who lived through the difficulties of 20th century Russia.I've been using it to help me with bruises and lumps ever since and I'd encourage you guys to try it if you haven't and see what the results are.
Something else that I remember is using shredded raw potato for infections. You take a potato and mush it/shred it until it can comfortably sit on on the wound and cover it with a plastic wrap (same goes for cabbages btw). The potato juice seems to accelerate the process the infection needs to go through, which can be unpleasant, but it'll be over faster.Again, you'll want to change it over every couple of hours or when it dries out.For me this is a tried and tested method that I return to whenever needed and I'd encourage you guys to experiment and see for yourselves.Keep in mind however that I've never used the potato on a huge festering wound (that would require a hospital) but it did help me with an under the skin infection at the base of my spine, which was very painful and lasted several months.Once it got so bad that walking became a problem I put kept shredded potato on it 24/7 and within a few days a lot of pus broke to the surface and through the skin.Gross and painful as it may have been it sped up the healing process and I can attest to the vegetable's efficacy in this regard. :)
